  5. Sussex need 63 runs off 12 overspublished at 17:34 British Summer Time 29 June 2022

Rizwan's injury and the Orr wicket have resulted in the required rate creeping up to 5.18 an over.

  6. wicket

    WICKET - Orr c Kerr b Reece 141published at 17:29 British Summer Time 29 June 2022

    Sussex 337 & 274-3 v Derbyshire 551-8 dec & 127-7 dec

    Another twist.

With Mohammad Rizwan clearly in discomfort, Sussex could have done with Ali Orr staying in but he's caught at deep cover by Hayden Kerr trying to launch Luis Reece for six.

A fantastic innings from the youngster, though, his highest-ever first-class score.

  7. 100 runs

    100 for Bell-Drummondpublished at 17:27 British Summer Time 29 June 2022

    Surrey 673-7 dec v Kent 331 & 337-4

Daniel Bell-Drummond has his second ton of the match at The Oval - he equals his first-innings total of 102 via a boundary.

Kent have passed their own first-innings score and trail by just five.

  8. Postpublished at 17:25 British Summer Time 29 June 2022

Rizwan then sprints for a single off the first ball of the next over. Not that wise. He's struggling.

  9. Postpublished at 17:24 British Summer Time 29 June 2022

Interesting twist, Rizwan has just picked up a niggle rushing for a quick single.

He's hurt here. Could be his hamstring. Does not look comfortable at all.

Only two runs off that over as a result.

    Sussex 337 & 269-2 v Derbyshire 551-8 dec & 127-7 dec

It helps in this situation when you have a batter the class of Mohammad Rizwan at your disposal.

He just opens up the face of the bat to guide a slightly loose Luis Reece delivery for four.

Those are the only runs of the 61st over, though - 73 runs required off 15 overs, eight wickets in hand.

  11. Postpublished at 17:17 British Summer Time 29 June 2022

    Surrey 673-7 dec v Kent 331 & 319-4

Proceedings are continuing at The Oval but that may just be a gentlemanly attempt to get Daniel Bell-Drummond his second century of the match - the Kent batter currently stands on 92no.

    Kent trail by 23.

  12. Sussex require 77 off 16 overspublished at 17:16 British Summer Time 29 June 2022

    Sussex 337 & 262-2 v Derbyshire 551-8 dec & 127-7 dec

Getting to the stage where Derbyshire are having a bit of a tete-a-tete to work out how best to restrict this Sussex run chase.

They aren't going to win this game now, but how can they avoid losing it?

  13. Sussex need 89 to win off 18 overspublished at 17:07 British Summer Time 29 June 2022

    Sussex 337 & 253-2 v Derbyshire 551-8 dec & 127-7 dec

Worth pointing out again that Sussex have not won a County Championship match since last April.

This is a great chance to end that winless streak. The required rate is now down to 4.9 an over with Ali Orr (131no) and Pakistan batter Mohammad Rizwan (39no) picking up the odd boundary.

  14. 300 runs

300 up for Kentpublished at 17:02 British Summer Time 29 June 2022

    Surrey 673-7 dec v Kent 331 & 300-4

Daniel Bell-Drummond moves on to 78 with a stylish boundary sweep.

    Kent are only 41 behind.

Let-off for OIlie Robinson as a Conor McKerr delivery bounces up and he gets his bat up, and it just falls millimetres shy of Ben Geddes at short leg.

  15. Postpublished at 16:55 British Summer Time 29 June 2022

    Sussex 337 & 236-2 v Derbyshire 551-8 dec & 127-7 dec (Sussex need 106 to win)

Derbyshire are in "prevent boundaries" mode. That means no slips.

But Mohammad Rizwan is using that to his advantage with some inventive shots, the latest of which sees him hoik an edge over the wicketkeeper and it races away for four.

  16. MATCH DRAWN AT TRENT BRIDGEpublished at 16:52 British Summer Time 29 June 2022

    Notts 551-8 dec, Middlesex 376 & 261-1

Nottinghamshire and Middlesex ends up, as seemed the most likely result this morning, as a draw.

Division Two leaders Notts take 15 points from the game, compared to 14 for second -placed Middlesex.

That nudges Notts an extra point clear at the top but it's a moral victory for the visitors.

Fuelled by centuries for openers Sam Robson and Mark Stoneman, they performed nobly to salvage a draw after being made to follow on.

  17. MATCH DRAWN AT WANTAGE ROADpublished at 16:51 British Summer Time 29 June 2022

    Northants 451 & 273-4, Warwickshire 405

Hands are duly shaken at Wantage Road as Northamptonshire draw with reigning county champions Warwickshire.

Northants take 15 points, while the Bears have to settle for 12.

  18. 6 runs

for Sussex's Rizwanpublished at 16:48 British Summer Time 29 June 2022

    Sussex 337 & 226-2 v Derbyshire 551-8 dec & 127-7 dec (Sussex need 116 to win)

Mohammad Rizwan smashes Alex Thomson over the ropes to cow corner.

That brings the rate down to exactly five - 23 overs remain. Then he sweeps a very thin shot to fine leg for a four to begin the next over.

This is going to be close.

  19. Postpublished at 16:39 British Summer Time 29 June 2022

    Sussex 337 & 210-2 v Derbyshire 551-8 dec & 127-7 dec (Sussex need 132 to win)

Sussex opener Ali Orr has his highest first-class score, beating his previous best of 119 - he's up to 123no.

It's only the 21-year-old's second County Championship century - so he will long remember it, but even more so if it helps propel his side to victory.

The required rate is hovering around five an over - Sussex are going to keep things fairly sensible it seems and then perhaps really unleash in the final few overs. There are 26 remaining.

    WICKET - Keogh c Miles b Burgess 7published at 16:34 British Summer Time 29 June 2022

    Northants 451 & 267-4, Warwickshire 405

A nice little moment for Michael Burgess to treasure as he claims his first wicket in first-class cricket.

The Warwickshire wicketkeper, having removed his pads to bowl, has Rob Keogh caught behind by the man who has replaced him with the gauntlets, fast bowler Craig Miles.

As one of the commentary team suggests, in years to come, cricket statisticians of the future will look back at the scorecard of this game - and assume that must be an inputting error by the scorers.
