  1. Some starts, some delayspublished at 11:06 British Summer Time 29 June 2022

Right, we are under way in Notts-Middlesex at Trent Bridge, Northants-Warwickshire, Gloucestershire-Lancashire and Worcestershire-Glamorgan.

There's a definite delay at The Oval for Surrey-Kent and proceedings don't appear to have started at Hove for Sussex-Derbyshire either.

  2. wicket

WICKET - Miles lbw b Kerrigan 17published at 11:05 British Summer Time 29 June 2022

    Northants 451, Warwickshire 397-9

First wicket of the day though is at Wantage Road, where spinner Simon Kerrigan traps Craig Miles leg before wicket with the fourth ball of the day.

  3. rain stops play

Slightly late start at Bristolpublished at 11:05 British Summer Time 29 June 2022

    Gloucestershire 337 & 108-3, Lancashire 402

Slightly late start at Nevil Road, following overnight rain.

But, when they get going four minutes late, James Bracey brings up the Gloucestershire 100 with a four off Will Williams' first ball of the day - and the hosts end up taking nine off the over.

A quick reminder that EVERY BALL of EVERY GAME can be heard here on the BBC Sport website and app.

The individual commentary links are all easy to spot at the top of the page.

Radio Five's Kevin Howells is again the front man for the on-air coverage from Trent Bridge in the Division Two top of the table clash between Nottinghamshire and Middlesex.

  5. All to play for in Division Twopublished at 10:58 British Summer Time 29 June 2022

We could get a result in all three Division Two matches - but it's almost certain to happen at New Road, barring long rain delays.

Just one point separated third-placed Glamorgan from fifth-placed Worcestershire at the start of their match on Sunday so we should not be surprised their meeting has been so tightly-fought.

Glamorgan go into day four on 232-5, needing 100 more runs to win but with only five wickets remaining.

Leaders Nottinghamshire are in the box seat against second-placed Middlesex, having enforced the follow-on but they still need to take 10 wickets and, most likely, bat again, given the visitors inched to 63-0 on Tuesday, just 112 runs behind.

Derbyshire opted not to enforce the follow-on at Hove and will be looking to add quick runs this morning to increase their 341-run lead before attempting to bowl winless Sussex out.

  6. Lancashire and Surrey chasing wins in Division Onepublished at 10:57 British Summer Time 29 June 2022

Lancashire know their chances of forcing victory against Gloucestershire at Bristol this morning look dependant on getting an early breakthrough from their pace attack.

They took three scalps last night - and so nearly added a fourth when paceman Tom Bailey switched to off spin for the penultimate over of the day and his extra bounce so nearly got rid of Jsmes Bracey.

But the hosts, on 99-3, led by 34 overnight - and the more runs Gloucestershire get, the tougher any potential victory chase will become.

Division One leaders Surrey have all day to bowl out Kent for a second time - but that potentially delayed start will not help their cause.

Having followed on yesterday still 342 runs behind, Kent openers Joe Denly and Ben Compton have so far made a good fist of it, on 121-0.

But Surrey spinners Tom Lawes and Will Jacks are waiting to pounce.

While Surrey, Lancashire and possibly even still Gloucestershire have a chance to win, the one place where a draw looks guaranteed is at Wantage Road, where Northamptonshire and Warwickshire might just as well shake hands now.

If the cricket there does not prove too exciting, at least the conversation in the BBC commentary box should be entertaining, judging by some of this week's output.

  7. Raining at The Ovalpublished at 10:55 British Summer Time 29 June 2022

It seems we could be in for a delayed start at The Oval - not good news for Division One leaders Surrey, who are hoping to push for victory on day four against Kent.

There's also been rain around at Hove where Sussex and Derbyshire are facing off in Division Two.

  8. Today's forecastpublished at 10:53 British Summer Time 29 June 2022

A fairly favourable forecast (try saying that quickly) today - there may be the odd shower here and there but with the majority of our games in the south, the east or the Midlands, things should, fingers crossed, mostly stay dry.

    Having said that...

Welcome back for the final day's play in this week's round of County Championship fixtures.

One game was completed yesterday when Simon Harmer narrowly saw off Hampshire by 12 runs in a thriller at Chelmsford.

But there are still three other Division One games going on, with a chance of a positive result in two of them, at Bristol and The Oval.

And there could be exciting outcomes too in the three Division Two games, at New Road, Trent Bridge and Hove.

Let battle recommence, for the next seven or so hours.
