Aaron Hardie hit the winning runs for Surrey

What a finish to four days of cricket - Surrey win in the final over at Scarborough and remain unbeaten at the top of Division One, despite Hampshire's victory over Warwickshire earlier in the day.

Notts are still leaders of Division Two after holding out for a draw against Glamorgan at Sophia Gardens.

But if you wanted records today, Hove was the place to be. Colin Ackermann and Wiaan Mulder hit double centuries and shared a stand of 477 for Leicestershire, whose 756-4 declared against Sussex was their highest ever score.

We will be back on Saturday for T20 Blast Finals Day. Thanks so much for your company.

    Breaking

    Yorkshire 521 & 220 v Surrey 515 & 228-6

Magnificent - Aaron Hardie pulls Steven Patterson for four and Surrey win at Scarborough with three balls to spare.

It looked like Yorkshire might pull off the win after reducing the visitors to 147-6 - but Shannon Gabriel had to leave the field after a two-wicket burst.

Foakes and Hardie kept their cool with an unbroken stand of 81 to see Surrey home to their fifth win of the season and a 15-point lead over second-paced Hampshire.

Jamie Overton hit 28 off 24 balls after taking a career-best 6-61 in Yorkshire's second innings.

Ben Foakes swings at that one, doesn't make a clean contact, but he picks up a single. Aaron Hardie on strike. Three needed off four.

  6. DURHAM DREW WITH DERBYSHIREpublished at 18:35 British Summer Time 14 July 2022
    Breaking

    Durham 296 & 221-7 v Derbys 283 & 398-8 dec

Liam Trevaskis and 18-year-old Stanley McAlindon played out the final 10 overs as Durham secured a draw with Derbyshire at the Riverside.

Trevaskis batted more than two and a half hours for his 19 not out after two quick wickets just prior to tea had left Durham in difficulties at 143-5.

Ben Foakes tries to drive. Dot ball. Four needed off five.

  8. Postpublished at 18:34 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

    Surrey 223-6 - target 227

    Ben Foakes keeps the strike.

Surrey require four runs from the final over.

    Tense enough for you?

    Steven Patterson will bowl.

Adam Lyth fields again. Five off seven needed.

Ben Foakes uses his feet and whips a Jordan Thompson full toss away for four.

Great batting - five needed off eight.

Ben Foakes drive. Again, he can't beat Adam Lyth. Nine needed off nine.

Adam Lyth fields at cover. No run. Nine needed off 10.

A free run for Surrey as Jordan Thompson sends down a wide....nine needed, still 11 balls to come.

  14. Postpublished at 18:30 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

A swish by Ben Foakes - but he doesn't make contact......11 balls left.

  15. Postpublished at 18:29 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

    Surrey 217-6 - target 227

Decent over by Steven Patterson, only four runs from it.

Surrey need 11 from 12 balls.

Ben Foakes will be on strike for the start of the next over. Both he and Aaron Hardie are 36 not out.

  16. Postpublished at 18:25 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

    Surrey 213-6 - target 227

Aaron Hardie hammers it down into the pitch and a leaping Adam Lyth cannot prevent the ball bouncing over his head at cover and rolling to the boundary.

A mis-field gifts Hardie a second run from the penultimate ball and he picks up a single to end the over.

Three more to come - Surrey need 14 more.

  17. new ball

New ballpublished at 18:23 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

    Durham 209-7 (target 386 v Derbys)

Strange though it might seem, Derbyshire have just taken the new ball.

They've handed that ball to Ben Aitchison, who will presumably get two overs to use it as there are four left in the match.

  18. Postpublished at 18:20 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

    Surrey 204-6 - target 227

Aaron Hardie can make nothing of Steven Patterson's first three deliveries but just clears sub Matthew Revis at mid-on from the next and it runs away for four.

A single from the final ball keeps the Aussie on strike and Surrey require 23 from 24 balls to win.

Looks like it's going to be Jordan Thompson to bowl the next one.
