  8. Barker puts Hants on path to victorypublished at 10:51 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

    Hampshire 370-9 dec v Warwickshire 217 & 212-9 (play starts 11:00)

Hampshire look set for their sixth Championship win of the season after working their way through the Warwickshire batting line-up on day three at the Ageas Bowl.

Former Bear Keith Barker could complete the 22nd five-for of his career if he claims the final wicket - with the 2021 champions set to resume just 59 ahead.

"We just wanted to make sure we squeezed them as much as possible and make it really hard for them to go past our (first innings) score," he told BBC Radio Solent.

  9. Jennings delighted to emulate hero Husseypublished at 10:47 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

    Lancashire 624-9 v Somerset 446 (play starts 11:00)

It was quite a day yesterday for Keaton Jennings as he made the highest score by a Lancashire player in a home game.

His 318 bettered Jason Gallian's 312 against Derbyshire at Old Trafford in 1996, and he afterwards admitted: "Mike Hussey was someone I looked up to as a player. I know he got a couple of 300s but I didn't think I'd ever get there."

He added: "We're in a great position to hopefully push on and win the game. We've got a good chance to really put some pressure on Somerset."

Listen to the full Keaton Jennings interview below.

  10. Glamorgan seek double over Nottspublished at 10:43 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

    Glamorgan 318 & 421-5 dec v Notts 285 & 19-1 (play starts 12:00)

    Eddie ByromImage source, Getty Images

Division Two leaders Nottinghamshire face a survival battle today after centuries by Eddie Byrom and Sam Northeast saw Glamorgan build a 454-run lead before declaring.

Notts have already lost at home to the Welsh club this season and want to avoid a similar fate at Sophia Gardens.

"You could see how dejected they were by the end, physically and mentally that's going to play a big part," Byrom told BBC Wales.

"We didn't want to declare too early and give them any chance. We've done so well to be in the position we are, that we buried them today."

  11. Bess happy with heavy workloadpublished at 10:39 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

    Yorkshire 521 & 65-2 v Surrey 515 (play starts 11:00)

    Dom BessImage source, Rex Features

Yorkshire spinner Dom Bess admitted it had been "another learning curve" after taking 5-126 from 35 overs on a batter-dominated third day at Scarborough.

"I feel like it was a reward for a lot of hard work," Bess told BBC West Yorkshire Sport.

"That's why I moved up to Yorkshire, to play and bowl overs. There's times when I want to get on earlier with a harder ball and see what i could do but I have to trust the fact that Pats (skipper Steven Patterson) has been around a very long time now and knows what he wants."

A draw is the most likely result, but Yorkshire must guard against the loss of early wickets with only a 71-run lead.

  12. Weather outlookpublished at 10:36 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

"A greater chance of showers for some", says BBC Weather's Matt Taylor.

After three days of excellent cricket, let's hope we don't have any significant rain interference to the finale.

    Cindy PaquinImage source, BBC Sport

Many years ago BBC Sport published a story about a young French spin bowler under the headline Learning Le Googly.

Cindy - or La Cindre as she was nicknamed - had received tips from Richie Benaud prior to taking part in the European Indoor Championships.

We mention this purely because today is Bastille Day on the other side of the Channel - but our attention will be firmly focused on the outcome of seven County Championship games.

Welcome to our coverage. Play starts at 11. Wonder how many 'les googlies' we will see today?

By the way, did you know that leg before wicket translates as jambe devant guichet?
