    Glamorgan 318 & 421-5 dec v Notts 285 & 229-4

The new ball has been taken by Glamorgan - their last throw of the dice. Lyndon James is 57 not out and Steven Mullaney has 19.

  2. Postpublished at 16:48 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

    Lancs 624-9 dec v Somerset 446 & 181-5

Lancashire have reverted to seam now as they take the new ball - and arguably it represents their final throw of the dice.

Tom Bailey and Will Williams are entrusted with triggering a flood of Somerset wickets that might leave the home side with time to win.

The runs/overs equation is that Somerset lead by three, with 15 overs left in the game.

    Sussex 588 & 208-1 v Leicestershire 756-4 dec

Hassan Azad into the attack with something floaty and Ali Orr thumps away a full toss for four to post a 117-ball century.

It's his second Championship hundred of the season and both he and Tom Alsop have passed 600 runs in this innings.

    Sussex lead by 40.

  4. Postpublished at 16:44 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

    Surrey 86-2 - target 227

Jordan Thompson replaces Yorkshire skipper Steven Patterson and Jamie Overton gives himself a little room before hitting it through point for four.

A leg bye and three singles follow to bring down the target to 141.

  5. 50 runs

for Tom Alsoppublished at 16:41 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

    Sussex 588-9 & 197-1 v Leics 576-4 dec

We're in the final stages of this game now as Lewis Hill steps up to do some bowling for Leicestershire.

He finds the outside edge of Tom Alsop's bat but it flies away for four as the left-hander adds a 79-ball 50 to his 150 in the first innings.

  6. 6 runs

Postpublished at 16:39 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

    Surrey 78-2 - target 227

Two Somerset old boys in direct opposition and Jamie Overton is down the track to lift Dom Bess for six over mid-on - the first scoring stroke of his innings.

That's why Surrey sent him in at number four and they need 149 more from 27 overs.

  7. Postpublished at 16:37 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

    Lancs 624-9 dec v Somerset 446 & 179-5

A key moment at Southport as Lewis Gregory latches onto a short ball from Jack Morley and pummels it to the midwicket boundary.

That means Somerset are no longer in arrears - they lead by one run and therefore, if Lancashire are going to force victory in the 18 overs that remain, they'll have to bat again.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:33 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

    Raine c Guest b Conners 4 (Durham 296 & 150-6 v Derbyshire 283 & 398-8 dec)

Only four more wickets needed now by Derbyshire as Ben Raine tries to flick the ball off his hip but is caught down the leg-side by keeper Brooke Guest.

There is a little light rain in the air, according to BBC Newcastle's Martin Emmerson, which would be very frustrating for those of a Derbyshire persuasion (and we're not talking about the new Jane Austen film).

  9. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:31 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

    Cox b Kerrigan 31 (Kent 137-5, target 365 v Northants)

Kent are five down now - and Simon Kerrigan has four of them!

The spinner deceives Jordan Cox with a ball that turns away to hit his off stump.

Kent captain Sam Billings is the new man at the crease.

  10. 50 runs

for Lyndon Jamespublished at 16:28 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

    Notts 210-4 - target 455

Three runs off Colin Ingram take Lyndon James to 50 from 132 balls. It's been another solid innings from an improving young player. The Notts survival battle goes on.

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:26 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

    Patel c Bess b Patterson 27 (Surrey 64-2 - target 227)

    Where's that gone?

Having forced Steven Patterson away for four earlier in the over, Ryan Patel goes for a Lara-esque pull shot but only succeeds in skying it into the waiting hands of Dom Bess.

Surrey need 163 more and Jamie Overton is promoted to number four following his six wickets in Yorkshire's second innings.

  12. 6 runs

Postpublished at 16:24 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

    Surrey 59-1 - target 227

Dom Bess floats one up and Hashim Amla lifts it over mid-wicket for a maximum. The next ball is quicker and flatter, but Amla sweeps fine for four. Good over for Surrey.

  13. Postpublished at 16:22 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

    Kent 126-4 (target 365) v Northants

Jordan Cox has decided attack is the best form of defence since tea - he's moved on to 25 not out from just 29 balls, thumping Jack White for a couple of boundaries.

Cox is outscoring partner Jack Leaning, who's on 17 with Kent looking to bat out another 31 overs for the draw.

  14. Postpublished at 16:21 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

    Surrey 47-1 - target 227

Surrey had been tied down for a while, but Ryan Patel gets one away through backward point for four in the latest Steven Patterson over. He is 22 not out and Hashim Amla has five.

  15. Division Two updatepublished at 16:19 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

Ali Orr is now 84 not out for Sussex following a boundary off Ben Mike - they are 165-1 and only three runs behind, following Leicestershire's earlier declaration on 756-4.

Nottinghamshire are 199-4, with Lyndon James 42 not out, in Cardiff and he has now been joined by Steven Mullaney following the downfall of Joe Clarke for 95.

  16. Postpublished at 16:16 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

    Surrey 38-1 - target 227

    Gripping stuff now in Scarborough.

Yorkshire seem intent on strangling the scoring, with Dom Bess and Steven Patterson bowling in tandem.

Surrey need 189 more from 33 overs - that's more than 5.7 an over.

  17. Postpublished at 16:13 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

    Durham 144-5 - target 386

    The target is theoretical.

Durham have sent out for hatches and are now in the process of battening them down.

A maiden from Alex Thomson to Ben Raine in the latest over, and it's all about keeping wickets intact now for the home side.

  18. for Jack Morleypublished at 16:06 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

    Rew c Jennings b Morley 23 (Lancs 624-9 v Somerset 446 & 155-5)

Lancashire hopes are revived in the first over after tea as Jack Morley breaks the partnership - and registers his maiden five-wicket haul in first-class cricket at the same time!

The left-arm spinner gets the ball to pop out of the rough and James Rew can only fend it to short leg, where Keaton Jennings takes the catch.

It's an all-Lewis pairing now for Somerset, with Gregory joining Goldsworthy.

  19. Postpublished at 16:06 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

    Surrey 33-1 - target 227

A single to Hashim Amla as Dom Bess completes the over interrupted before tea after the wicket of Rory Burns.

Steven Patterson bowls from the other end and starts the final session with a maiden.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:06 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

    Clarke c Cooke b Carlson 95 (Notts 184-4 - target 455)

Would you believe it? First ball after tea, Joe Clarke pushes forward and edges to the keeper. That should pep up Glamorgan as they now look for the six wickets that would bring them victory.
