Ben Foakes is unlikely to rely on brute strength to try and steer Surrey to victory - but he can play shots like that, an elegant cover drive off Dom Bess, which brings him a boundary.

It has been an impressive first-class debut by Tom Mackintosh and he pulls a short ball from Anuj Dal away for four to go to 15 not out. Still 23 overs to come, though.

Wicketkeeper Harry Swindells bowls his first-ever over in first-class cricket and a halt is called at Hove at the end of it.
It was a record-breaking day during the Leicestershire innings with Colin Ackermann and Wiaan Mulder scoring unbeaten double centuries in a partnership of 477.
Thereafter, it was Ali Orr's turn to enjoy himself with 106 not out off 122 balls on a pitch which proved to be every bowler's worst nightmare. Sussex take 14 points for the draw and Leicestershire 13.
