    Smith b Gabriel 4 (Surrey 147-6 - target 227)

    What a delivery!

Shannon Gabriel sends Jamie Smith's off stump flying into a horizontal position and this is looking like an inspired bowling change by Yorkshire skipper Steven Patterson.

Suddenly, the Tykes need only four wickets to win.

  2. Postpublished at 17:30 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

    Surrey 146-5 - target 227

Ben Foakes is unlikely to rely on brute strength to try and steer Surrey to victory - but he can play shots like that, an elegant cover drive off Dom Bess, which brings him a boundary.

A single follows to keep the strike - and the visitors need 81 more.

    Jacks lbw Gabriel 27 (Surrey140-5 - target 227)

In trying to push for victory, are Surrey about to suffer their first Championship loss of the season?

Yorkshire give West Indies paceman Shannon Gabriel his first bowl of the innings and a no-ball is put away for six by Will Jacks.

He gets it right later in the over, though, as Jacks falls leg-before to a delivery angled into his pads.

  4. Division Two updatepublished at 17:21 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

No further inroads by Derbyshire at the Riverside - Durham are 178-6, with Tom Mackintosh on 20 not out.

James Harris bowls a maiden at Sophia Gardens, but Glamorgan badly need wickets with Notts 247-4 and 16 overs to go.

  5. Postpublished at 17:19 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

    Surrey 129-4 - target 227

Dom Bess won't get away with that.

He pitches one half way down and Will Jacks hammers it over square leg for six, which is what it deserved.

Jacks is now 22 not out from 15 balls.

  6. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:18 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

    Van der Merwe c Jennings b Wood 12 (Lancs 624-9 dec v Somerset 446 & 206-7)

    Still hope for Lancashire?

Luke Wood picks up the seventh Somerset wicket, with Roelof van der Merwe prodding forward to give Keaton Jennings his third catch of the innings at short leg.

    The lead is 28.

  8. Postpublished at 17:13 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

    Lancs 624-9 dec v Somerset 446 & 200-6

Another landmark for Somerset as Roelof van der Merwe carves a boundary over the slips to bring up 200 for the visitors.

Lancashire are running out of time - there are a minimum of nine overs left and the deficit is now 22.

  9. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:11 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

    Overton lbw Thompson 28 (Surrey 121-4 - target 227)

Clever bowling by Jordan Thompson as a looping, slower delivery hits Jamie Overton in front. Yorkshire will be mighty glad to see the back of him.

They need six more wickets - Surrey require 106 runs. Who do you fancy?

  10. Postpublished at 17:10 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

    Durham 296 & 169-6 v Derbyshire 286 & 398-8 dec

  11. 6 runs

Postpublished at 17:09 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

    Surrey 120-3 - target 227

Agricultural, but effective - Jamie Overton hammers Dom Bess over mid-wicket for the second six of his innings.

In all, 13 come from it and Surrey need 107 from 21 - the rate is down to just above five an over.

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:08 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

    Stewart b Keogh 0 (Kent 144-8, target 365 v Northants)

    Kent are collapsing!

Rob Keogh has a fourth wicket now as he pierces the defences of Grant Stewart and sends one of the stumps flying.

Sam Billings, at the non-striker's end, must know Kent's hopes of survival rest on him. Matt Milnes is out there to join him, with 14 overs remaining.

  13. Postpublished at 17:03 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

    Surrey 103-3 - target 227

Will Jacks likes to 'put bat to ball' and he pulls away a Dom Bess long hop before cover driving the next to the rope.

Looking good now for Surrey, but a couple more wickets could change that.

  14. wicket

Northamptonshire need three more to finally register that first win of the season...

  15. Division Two updatepublished at 17:00 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

  18. SUSSEX DREW WITH LEICESTERSHIREpublished at 16:52 British Summer Time 14 July 2022
    Breaking

    Sussex 588-9 & 220-1 v Leicestershire 756-4 dec

Wicketkeeper Harry Swindells bowls his first-ever over in first-class cricket and a halt is called at Hove at the end of it.

It was a record-breaking day during the Leicestershire innings with Colin Ackermann and Wiaan Mulder scoring unbeaten double centuries in a partnership of 477.

Thereafter, it was Ali Orr's turn to enjoy himself with 106 not out off 122 balls on a pitch which proved to be every bowler's worst nightmare. Sussex take 14 points for the draw and Leicestershire 13.

    Surrey 89-2 - target 227

A good over by Dom Bess gives up only three singles for Surrey.

Hashim Amla has 28, Jamie Overton 12 and they need 138 from 25 overs. In T20 terms, that wouldn't be a huge stretch.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:50 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

    Gregory c Bohannon b Williams 25 (Lancs 624-9 dec v Somerset 446 & 189-6)

And there you go - Will Williams does just what Lancashire required!

Lewis Gregory drives the seamer's half-volley straight to Josh Bohannon at cover and Somerset are six down, leading by just 11.

There are a minimum 14 overs to be bowled.
