    Sussex 588-9 & 19-0 v Leics 756-4 dec

If Sussex are weary, their openers aren't showing it.

With Tom Haines unable to bat because of the broken hand he suffered in the first innings, Tom Clark has been promoted up the order and he and Ali Orr have both found the boundary twice in the first three overs.

Chris Wright and spinner Callum Parkinson are sharing the new ball for Leicestershire.

A confident start to the afternoon by Joe Clarke, who finds the mid-wicket boundary twice in a row off James Harris - the second from a full toss. Clarke is 48 not out and Lyndon James has two.

That's wicket number four for Jack Morley and Lancashire!

Tom Lammonby - who had just survived a close call going for the paddle sweep against the left-armer - attempts the shot again next ball and this time it loops up to Keaton Jennings close in.

The umpires confer and eventually the finger is raised, sending Lammonby on his way for 33.

    Sussex 588-9 & 0-0 v Leics 756-4 dec

No more hunting for records as Colin Ackermann declares over lunch. Sussex start their second innings trailing by 164.

Just to fill you in on all the stats.....Ackermann made 277 not out off 375 balls, with one six and 41 fours; Wiann Mulder's unbeaten 235 came from 279 balls and featured two sixes and 32 fours.

They shared an unbroken stand of 477 for Leicestershire's fifth wicket.

The all-time fifth-wicket record remains 520 by Chesteshwar Pujara - who is playing for Sussex - and Ravi Jadeja in an Indian domestic match in 2008.

  7. More records to come at Hove?published at 13:33 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

    Sussex 588-9 dec v Leicestershire 756-4 - lunch

No team has scored 800 in a Championship innings since Somerset made 850-7 declared against Middlesex in April 2007 and conceded 801-8 declared against Derbyshire the following month.

If Colin Ackermann and Wiaan Mulder add another 23 runs, it will be the first 500 partnership in the Championship since Michael Carberry and Neil McKenzie shared 523 for Hampshire against Yorkshire in 2011.

You would think, however, that Leicestershire must soon be thinking of a declaration so their well-rested bowlers can find out just how mentally weary Sussex are.

    BBC Radio Somerset

Spin is proving to be the main threat to Somerset's hopes of saving this game, specifically the left arm of Jack Morley, who has picked up all three of the wickets to have fallen this morning, and is extracting sharp bounce and turn, particularly from the rough outside the left-handers' off stump.

Tom Lammonby is looking to neutralise this by coming down the pitch at every opportunity, and so far, that's worked. But the odds on a Lancashire win are shortening.

A session of records at Hove, with the visitors adding 227 in just 34 overs against some indifferent Sussex bowling

Leicestershire have overtaken their record first-class score of 701 in 1906 against Worcestershire, and Colin Ackermann (277*) and Wiaan Mulder (235*) have the club's highest first class partnership of 477.

This is also the most scored in an innings at Hove in 150 years, and the highest total ever against Sussex, beating t726 by Nottinghamshire in 1895

As regards this game Leicestershire lead by 168, and don’t forget they lost a wicket off the first ball of their innings!!

  12. Lunch at Canterburypublished at 13:09 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

    Kent 16-0 v Northants (target 365)

You wonder whether news of Warwickshire's defeat at the Ageas Bowl will influence the two remaining sessions here, with Kent set a target of 365 from 74 overs.

Zak Crawley and Ben Compton have reached 16 without loss in the pre-lunch session - but the reality is a draw will take Kent above the Bears in the table and lift Northamptonshire level with a game in hand.

  13. Notts battle for draw in Cardiffpublished at 13:07 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

    Glamorgan 318 & 421-5 dec v Notts 285 & 88-3 - lunch

    Dafydd Pritchard
BBC Sport Wales at Sophia Gardens

It has largely been a sedate first session in Cardiff - just as Nottinghamshire would have hoped - but Glamorgan have made a potentially significant breakthrough just before lunch.

Notts were set a notional 455 to beat their Division Two promotion rivals and, while victory seems highly improbable, the leaders have given themselves a fighting chance of securing a draw.

After losing Matt Montgomery lbw to James Harris in the second over this morning, Notts steadied themselves with watchful innings from Ben Slater (48) and Joe Clarke (35 not out).

But just five minutes before lunch, Slater was furious with himself after getting out caught and bowled to the leg spin of Colin Ingram. That wicket has really lifted Glamorgan spirits.

  14. Lunch at Southportpublished at 13:06 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

    Lancs 624-9 dec v Somerset 446 & 74-3

Left-arm spinner Jack Morley has given Lancashire hope of forcing victory at Southport, taking all three wickets to fall after Somerset began their second innings 178 behind.

Morley removed Matt Renshaw, Steve Davies and George Bartlett before Tom Lammonby and Lewis Goldsworthy rebuilt with a stand that has so far realised 30.

However, Somerset go to lunch still 104 short of making the home side bat again, so you feel they'll need to occupy the crease for pretty much all of this final day.

  15. Lunch at Scarboroughpublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

    Yorks 521 & 136-6 v Surrey 515

Three singles from the final over before lunch, bowled by Will Jacks, but that has been a productive morning for Surrey.

They have taken four wickets for 71 runs after Yorkshire began on 65-2 - and the home side are 142 ahead at the interval.

Jamie Overton has 3-27 so far, while Aaron Hardie has 1-19 from 11 tidy overs.

    Slater c and b Ingram 48 (Notts 87-3 - target 455)

A vital breakthrough for Glamorgan just before lunch as Ben Slater tamely lobs a catch back to Colin Ingram, having hit the previous delivery for four.

It's a wicket in his first over for the South African and Lyndon James comes out to join Joe Clarke, who has 35.

  17. Postpublished at 12:58 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

    Yorks 521 & 132-6 v Surrey 515

Yorkshire can't afford to lose any more wickets before lunch.

An Aaron Hardie over ends with Matthew Waite square cutting powerfully for four.

he is 11 not out, having now been joined by first-innings centurion Jonny Tattersall. The lead is 137.

  18. Durham chase unlikely targetpublished at 12:52 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

    Durham 296 & 50-0 v Derbyshire 283 & 398-8 dec

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Durham are chasing 386 to win in 84 overs in CLS. Derbyshire batted for 10 more overs this morning, adding a further 82 runs, before they declared in their second innings. Hilton Cartwright made 71 not out.

The highest run chase on this ground was by Yorkshire in 2013 as they chased 339, thanks to 182 from a young lad called Joe Root. I wonder what happened to him?

I covered that game and they had four sessions in which to do it. Durham could do it today but it's unlikely. They are chasing 4.6 runs an over and have just reached 50-0 after 13 overs.

  19. Postpublished at 12:49 British Summer Time 14 July 2022

    Lancs 624-9 dec v Somerset 446 & 54-3

It's very much survival mode for Somerset, epitomised by the fact Lewis Goldsworthy has taken 33 balls to get off the mark.

Goldsworthy eventually broke his duck by cutting Jack Morley off the back foot for four, but plenty of work remains to be done if he and Tom Lammonby are to repair the early damage done by those three Morley wickets.

A single for James Vince off Dan Mousley finishes the job for Hampshire who go to the top of the Division One table for a few hours with victory over the 2021 champions.

Vince finishes with 22 not out off 21 balls as the home side reach their target in 16.5 overs, having picked up the final Warwickshire wicket earlier in the morning.

That is Hampshire's sixth win of the season, while the Bears suffer their third defeat.
