  1. 'Bizarre decision at Northants'published at 18:21 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Northants 235 & 25-1 v Lancashire 132

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

After it was decided that yesterday was too hot and too sunny to play a full day, leaving the remaining three days to make up for the lost time, it's now been decided it's too dark to play.

The players came off for bad light with Northamptonshire in a strong position.

It's been an excellent start with the ball by Lancashire, a testing opening spell from Tom Bailey, Will Williams and Luke Wood.

We're told the floodlights are unavailable for the reminder of the match, making the decision to shorten play yesterday, extending the playing hours of the remaining three days even more bizarre.

    Northants 235 & 25-1 v Lancashire 132

Still no indication of a resumption at Wantage Road where the players have been off the field due to bad light for almost an hour now.

  3. 50 runs

for Kohler-Cadmorepublished at 18:14 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Somerset 424 v Yorkshire 138-4

Tom Kohler-Cadmore has been dealing in fours and sixes, and a fourth boundary gives him his half-century.

    He's also smacked four maximums.

But Yorkshire are still in a bit of bother. Another wicket tonight would put Somerset firmly on top and there are still 12 overs to go at Taunton.

  4. wicket

WICKET Cook c Foakes b Worrall 4published at 18:12 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Surrey 319 v Essex 271 & 12-1

More despair for Essex, further jubilation for Surrey.

Alastair Cook prods forward at a full delivery from Dan Worrall and feathers it through to the keeper.

    That's Essex's rock gone.

  5. wicket

    WICKET Barker c T Price b Higgins 50published at 18:11 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Gloucestershire v Hampshire 445-8

And Keith Barker follows his captain back to the pavilion four balls later!

He tries another big hit but top edges it and knows he's gone as soon as it loops up in the air. Tom Price takes the catch.

  6. wicket

    WICKET Vince b T Price 95published at 18:09 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Gloucestershire v Hampshire 445-7

    Five runs short!

Heartbreak for James Vince as he's completely deceived by a Tom Price delivery that blows the bails off.

Price has been smashed around a bit, like a few of the Glos bowlers, so a nice reward for his persistence.

  7. 50 runs

for Hampshire's Barkerpublished at 18:07 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Gloucestershire v Hampshire 440-6

Keith Barker is making batting look easy, his 50 coming off just 37 balls.

He's hit seven fours and two huge sixes.

  8. Postpublished at 18:05 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Surrey 319 v Essex 271 & 0-0

A shellshocked Essex start their second innings with a deficit of 48 at The Oval.

It was absolute destruction from Will Jacks in those last few overs as he swung away six maximums off the spinners.

    Six overs remain tonight.

  9. Division Two updatepublished at 18:03 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

It's a day for the batters in Division Two.

Brooke Guest and Wayne Madsen have put on 81 to guide Derbyshire to 135-2 in reply to Nottinghamshire's big declaration of 618-8.

Middlesex openers Mark Stoneman and Sam Robson are unbeaten on 37 and 25 respectively as Middlesex have compiled 65-0 in response to Sussex's 523.

And Harry Swindells has hit a half-century for Leicestershire to support Wiaan Mulder (141no) as they stand on 381-5 and counting against Glamorgan.

  10. wicket

WICKET Revis lbw b Brooks 0published at 18:03 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Somerset 424 v Yorkshire 129-4

Two wickets in two balls for Jack Brooks!

Matthew Revis is pinned lbw first ball as he tries to clip the Somerset seamer away.

Matthew Waite survives the hat-trick ball but Somerset are now firmly in the driving seat.

  11. wicket

WICKET Brook c Aldridge b Brooks 41published at 18:00 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Somerset 424 v Yorkshire 129-3

    But now Harry Brook goes!

The England batter chips Somerset seamer Jack Brooks to mid-wicket where Kasey Aldridge clings on.

Massive wicket for the hosts at Taunton.

  12. Postpublished at 18:00 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Somerset 424 v Yorkshire 129-2

While Will Jacks has been smashing it all around The Oval, I haven't had time to say Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Harry Brook are doing the same for Yorkshire at Somerset.

Kohler-Cadmore has just hit Jack Leach for his fourth maximum to move to 48. Brook has 41 off 53 balls.

  13. Postpublished at 17:58 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Gloucestershire v Hampshire 433-6

Yep, Keith Barker has been annoyed by all this stop-start malarkey.

And poor Tom Price is the man to pay the, er, price.

Two balls after sending him away for a four, the Hampshire batter launches a huge six. He's on 44 from 33 balls, Barker.

  14. wicket

WICKET Worrall c Rossington b Cook 1published at 17:58 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Surrey 319 v Essex 271

    Goodness me, Essex needed that.

Last man Dan Worrall gloves one from Sam Cook through to the keeper and departs for a single.

A single he made in a partnership of 67 with Will Jacks who finishes unbeaten on 150.

Jim Dale: This has been a master class from Will Jacks on how to bat with the lower order. Been superbly patient all day and finishing off with a flourish to flog a tired bowling attack. Great support from the likes of Roach and Lawes.

  16. Postpublished at 17:54 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Gloucestershire v Hampshire 422-6

It's like the hokey cokey at Cheltenham. In, out, in, out.

After a short break, the players are back on the field. We've lost count of the number of bad light interruptions now.

  17. Postpublished at 17:53 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Surrey 319-9 v Essex 271

It's taken Will Jacks 16 deliveries to go from 100 to 150. Brutal.

  18. 150 runs

for Jackspublished at 17:52 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Surrey 319-9 v Essex 271

This is incredible batting from Will Jacks.

The Surrey batter takes 26 off Matt Critchley's over, including three sixes, to move from 124 to 150.

I need to go back and see how many balls it's taken him to get from 100 to 150, but I'm guessing it's not many...

    Surrey 303-9 v Essex 271

    SIX MORE!

Will Jacks biffs Matt Critchley over the deep mid-wicket rope for his sixth maximum and follows it with another boundary, carved into the off-side to take Surrey past 300.
