  1. 6 runs

Postpublished at 16:50 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Somerset 424 v Yorkshire 51-1

Dismissive from Tom Kohler-Cadmore as the Yorkshire batter smashes Jack Leach for a straight six.

He follows it with another boundary in the following over to bring up Yorkshire's 50.

  2. Bad light stops playpublished at 16:48 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Gloucestershire v Hampshire 385-6

Off for a third time at Cheltenham. Bad light is the reason but there's a bit of drizzle around too.

And the light is surely not going to improve a great deal as the evening draws in. Very stop-start.

  3. Postpublished at 16:48 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Surrey 225-8 v Essex 271

Surrey are climbing into the Essex bowlers now as the deficit goes below fifty.

Will Jacks and Kemar Roach have put on 58 precious runs for the ninth wicket.

There's certainly a lot of heart being shown by the Division One leaders after a horror spell either side of lunch.

  4. wicket

WICKET Donald c Bracey b Shaw 29published at 16:43 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Gloucestershire v Hampshire 379-6

Aneurin Donald's rapid-fire 29 off 27 balls for Hampshire comes to an end as he edges to wicketkeeper James Bracey off Josh Shaw.

The visitors have four batting points, now the 110-over threshold has been passed. How big a lead can they rack up? While James Vince (79no) remains at the crease, they will surely be looking for at least 450.

  5. Postpublished at 16:37 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Warwickshire 225 v Kent 165 & 99-3

Play has resumed post-tea at Edgbaston but Kent are yet to add to their score.

They must guard their wickets extremely carefully to have any chance of victory.

  6. Postpublished at 16:36 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Surrey 201-8 v Essex 271

200 up for Surrey and a first batting bonus point.

It's been a good fightback from the home side's lower order after they were 112-7 in the afternoon session.

  7. wicket

LANCASHIRE ALL OUT FOR 132published at 16:23 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Parkinson lbw b Keogh 10 (Northants 235 v Lancashire 132)

    A shambolic session for Lancashire.

England bowler Matt Parkinson becomes the fifth batter to be dismissed lbw, falling to Rob Keogh, as the Red Rose are skittled for just 132.

That's a first-innings lead of 103 for Northants, who add three bowling points to the solitary batting point gained by either side.

Jack White was the star of the show with the ball for the hosts, taking 5-14, while Josh Bohannon's 31 was the highest score put up by the visitors.

  8. Postpublished at 16:22 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Surrey 192-8 v Essex 271

They're back out for the final session on day two at The Oval.

Can Surrey get anywhere near Essex's first-innings total?

Will Jacks will be crucial - he's unbeaten on 60. The deficit is 79.

  9. wicket

WICKET Pujara c Stoneman b Helm 231published at 16:19 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Middlesex v Sussex 523

Cheteshwar Pujara's brilliant innings finally ends at Lord's, as does the Sussex first innings.

The India batter is on his way for 231, his third double century in a Sussex shirt this season.

997 runs at an average of 124.62 this campaign. Not bad.

  10. wicket

WICKET Lyth c Abell b Brooks 13published at 16:18 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Somerset 424 v Yorkshire 23-1

    Adam Lyth goes!

The left-hander drives loosely at Jack Brooks and Tom Abell holds a good low catch at gully.

  11. Postpublished at 16:17 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Gloucestershire v Hampshire 353-5

Much like the lunch intervals, the tea breaks are going to be all over the shop.

We are once again under way at Cheltenham where the light has improved enough for the umpires to usher the players back on to the track.

Zak Chappell has the ball - but has not changed his shirt, which still has his name misspelled Chapell on the back.

  12. Tea at Edgbastonpublished at 16:14 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Warwickshire 225 v Kent 165 & 99-3

That's the end of a fairly balanced afternoon session in Birmingham.

Warwickshire will be the happier of the two sides, having taken three Kent wickets to build on their first-innings lead of 60, with Oliver Hannon-Dalby taking his haul for the match up to eight.

Kent have scored at a decent rate but their lead is just 39 and they will need a big innings from Joe Denly, who sits on 23 not out as tea is taken.

  13. Postpublished at 16:11 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Somerset 424 v Yorkshire 23-0

A nice positive start from Yorkshire with a couple of boundaries apiece to George Hill and Adam Lyth.

Hill has just hit Lewis Gregory for back-to-back fours, both lovely cover drives.

  14. wicket

WICKET Bailey c Taylor b Keogh 3published at 16:00 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Northants 235 v Lancs 116-9

Two balls after Luke Wood is out, Tom Bailey follows suit.

He flicks spinner Rob Keogh into the leg-side and is caught on the deep mid-wicket boundary.

    Lancashire have subsided.

  15. wicket

WICKET Wood c McManus b Sanderson 8published at 15:59 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Northants 235 v Lancs 116-8

Ben Sanderson bangs one in short, Luke Wood goes for the pull shot but gloves it through to the keeper.

    Lancashire are eight down.

    Actually they're nine down now...

  16. Postpublished at 15:56 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Somerset 424 v Yorkshire 0-0

Adam Lyth and George Hill get things going in Yorkshire's first innings.

  17. Tea at The Ovalpublished at 15:55 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Surrey 185-8 v Essex 271

Time for tea and it's Essex who still hold the upper hand in south London.

Will Jacks has been the stand out batter for Surrey. He's unbeaten on 54, while Shane Snater has taken 3-18.

  18. wicket

    WICKET Bell-Drummond lbw b Hannon-Dalby 27published at 15:50 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Warwickshire 225 v Kent 165 & 84-3

    OMG. DBD LBW OHD. FYI.

It's acronym city as Oliver Hannon-Dalby claims his eight wicket of the match at Edgbaston, trapping Daniel Bell-Drummond leg before.

The rangy bowler has 2-17 in this Kent innings and 8-57 in the match. Kent's lead is 24 in a game that is likely not going to need a fourth day on Friday.

  19. wicket

WICKET Vilas c McManus b Taylor 18published at 15:47 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Northants 235 v Lancashire 110-7

After losing five wickets for 27 runs, a partnership of 33 seemed a mammoth stand for Lancashire.

But it has not lasted any longer than that as Dane Vilas is adjudged to have edged behind to Lewis McManus off the bowling of Tom Taylor.

Red Rose skipper Vilas is not happy with the decision.

  20. Early tea at Cheltenhampublished at 15:42 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Gloucestershire v Hampshire 353-5

    Kit Harris
    BBC Sport commentator at Cheltenham

An early tea is being taken at Cheltenham.

We’ve had scorching heat, rain and now a leaden pall has shrouded the ground at Cheltenham Festival.

We’re off for bad light and there’s just a touch of drizzle too. The marquees are thrumming with activity, but the game has stalled again.
