  1. 50 runs

for Jackspublished at 15:38 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Surrey 178-8 v Essex 271

Will Jacks is fighting a bit of a lone cause for Surrey with the bat.

The all-rounder gets to his half-century off 105 balls.

How many can he and the last couple of wickets get Surrey up to? They still trail Essex by 93.

  2. Get Involved - #bbccricketpublished at 15:38 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Surrey 178-8 v Essex 271

Jim Dale: Is there anything more gratifying/annoying than decent 8th/9th/10th wicket partnerships when you well behind/ahead of the game?

Nokeeroe: The tail is wagging for Surrey and all the good work of the morning (by Essex) is being undone.

  3. wicket

WICKET Aldridge b Gabriel 41published at 15:36 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Somerset 424 v Yorkshire

Somerset are all out for 424 at Taunton.

Yorkshire and West Indies fast bowler Shannon Gabriel gets one through Kasey Aldridge and he's on his way for a gutsy 41.

    Over to Yorkshire's batters...

  4. 200 runs

for Pujarapublished at 15:34 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Middlesex v Sussex 489-8

A third double century in 10 Sussex innings from the India star.

Cheteshwar Pujara hit 201 not out against Derbyshire in April and 203 against Durham a fortnight later.

He's approaching 500 minutes at the crease as Sussex continue to build a big total at Lord's.

  5. Division Two updatepublished at 15:33 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

Derbyshire have lost an early wicket in reply to Nottinghamshire's monster declaration of 618-8. Luis Reece has gone for 24 and Derbyshire are 46-1.

Lewis Hill has departed for 81 for Leicestershire but Wiaan Mulder has reached his half-century, with the hosts purring along quite contentedly on 232-4 against Glamorgan.

And we're on the verge of another milestone for Sussex superman Cheteshwar Pujara...

  6. Bad light stops playpublished at 15:33 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Gloucestershire v Hampshire 353-5

More weather-related frustration at Cheltenham for Hampshire.

After a two-hour delay this morning, the players are again taken from the field due to bad light.

  7. 'Golden chance for Northants'published at 15:25 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Northants 235 v Lancashire 95-6

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

A first five wicket haul for Jack White - his fifth victim was Washington Sundar, who also picked up five wickets earlier in the day on his Lancashire debut.

A seven-over spell of 4-10 in the afternoon session has helped swing the game the way of the home side. Northants have a golden chance to secure a potentially match-winning lead on first innings.

  8. wicket

WICKET Lawes c sub b Critchley 19published at 15:24 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Surrey 167-8 v Essex 271

Essex finally break Surrey's eighth-wicket partnership but only after Tom Lawes and Will Jacks have added 55.

Lawes drives Matt Critchley, but it's in the air and he's caught in the covers by substitute fielder Aaron Beard.

Surrey still trail by 104 as Kemar Roach strides in at 10.

  9. wicket

WICKET Brown c&b Gohar 25published at 15:23 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Gloucestershire v Hampshire 337-5

Zafar Gohar launches the ball high up in the air in celebration after removing Hampshire's Ben Brown.

It's a nice caught and bowled take by the spinner, who had Brown all tied up there.

Hampshire still very much on top though.

  10. wicket

WICKET Brooks c Tattersall b Bess 1published at 15:20 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Somerset 404-9 v Yorkshire

    Nine down now.

Jack Brooks pokes at a ball outside off-stump from Dom Bess and snicks through to the keeper.

  11. wicket

WICKET Leach st Tattersall b Shutt 16published at 15:19 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Somerset 403-8 v Yorkshire

One too many big shots for Jack Leach.

The England man dances down the track to Jack Shutt but is beaten by some good turn and the wicketkeeper whips off the bails.

An entertaining cameo from the number nine batter though.

  12. 6 runs

Postpublished at 15:11 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Somerset 397-7 v Yorkshire

Oh my word, that's one of the most extraordinary shots I've ever seen from Jack Leach.

The left-hander reverse swats Yorkshire spinner Jack Shutt for six. It wasn't even a reverse sweep, more a slap.

    Madness!

  13. wicket

WICKET Crawley c Mousley b Rhodes 25published at 15:09 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Warwickshire 225 & Kent 165 & 43-2

    Big wicket for the Bears.

Warwickshire skipper Will Rhodes brings himself into the attack and he claims the prized scalp of England opener Zak Crawley.

Crawley will be disappointed with his shot selection, though, straight down the throat of Dan Mousley at short midwicket.

  14. 6 runs

Postpublished at 15:07 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Somerset 390-7 v Yorkshire

    What a shot!

Jack Leach times Dom Bess beautifully over long-off and it goes all the way for six.

  15. Postpublished at 15:04 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Surrey 148-7 v Essex 271

This is turning into a handy eighth-wicket partnership for Surrey between Will Jacks and Tom Lawes.

They've frustrated Essex for more than 45 minutes after that flurry of wickets post-lunch in a stand that's worth 36.

  16. wicket

WICKET Gregory c Lyth b Bess 77published at 15:01 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Somerset 376-7 v Yorkshire

Lewis Gregory tries to hit Dom Bess over the top once again but this time picks out Adam Lyth at long-on.

It ends an excellent innings of 77 from the Somerset all-rounder.

  17. wicket

WICKET Sundar lbw b White 2published at 15:00 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Northants 235 v Lancashire 77-6

What is happening to Lancashire? Well, Jack White is.

Washington Sundar had a dream debut with the ball for Lancashire, taking 5-76, but he lasts just 10 balls at the crease before becoming White's latest lbw scalp.

White has 5-14 now. Sensational figures. Hard to believe it's his first five-fer.

  18. wicket

WICKET Bohannon lbw b White 31published at 14:54 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Northants 235 v Lancashire 76-5

There is no stopping Jack White.

Josh Bohannon becomes the floppy-haired fast man's third lbw victim today - and fourth victim in all. White has taken 4-12 now.

Lancashire, third in the Division One table, are staring down the barrel of a hefty first-innings deficit here as bowlers continue to dominate at Wantage Road.

  19. 6 runs

Postpublished at 14:47 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Somerset 374-6 v Yorkshire

That'll help Somerset's pursuit of big runs.

Lewis Gregory skips down the wicket and pumps Dom Bess for a straight six to move to 75.

  20. wicket

    WICKET Compton c Mousley b Hannon-Dalby 5published at 14:46 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Warwickshire 225 v Kent 165 & 27-1

Breakthrough at Edgbaston and no surprise that Oliver Hannon-Dalby is the man at the heart of it.

The big man blitzed Kent's top order for 6-40 yesterday and he strikes again to remove Ben Compton.

The opener is not entirely convinced the ball carried to Dan Mousley, who took a low catch at slip - but the umpire is. And he's the man who matters.
