WARWICKSHIRE ALL OUT FOR 225published at 13:27 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Hain c Billings b Milnes 99 (Warwickshire 225 v Kent 165)

Oh, Sam Hain! What have you done?

We said the Warwickshire batsman had been stuck on 99 for a while. He decides to swing at one from Matt Milnes in an attempt to get into triple figures but just edges it to Sam Billings.

That's Billings' seventh catch of the innings, equalling his own best. But it's not a Kent record - Steve Marsh twice took eight in an innings.

  2. Postpublished at 13:25 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Warwickshire 225-9 v Kent 165

Sam Hain has been marooned on 99 not out for a little while at Edgbaston.

He's just had an escape as kent were convinced last man Oliver Hannon-Dolby was caught behind but the umpire did not give it.

  3. Lunch at Wantage Roadpublished at 13:18 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Northants 235 v Lancashire 54-2

A mixed morning for both sides in Northampton.

The hosts resumed on 218-7 and lost their final three wickets for the addition of just 17 runs as Lancashire debutant Washington Sundar completed a debut five-wicket haul.

Both Lancashire openers have fallen in reply, leaving things open for either team to really establish an advantage this afternoon.

  4. Lunch at Tauntonpublished at 13:13 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Somerset 324-6 v Yorkshire

It's been quite slow going for Somerset this morning, not helped by a short rain delay, but crucially they've only lost the wicket of skipper Tom Abell.

Lewis Gregory goes to lunch on 47.

  5. 'Leicestershire rattled along'published at 13:11 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Leicestershire 128-1 v Glamorgan

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

These two sides might be benefiting from starting a day later, avoiding the most extreme heat, but it was still a good toss to win at Grace Road as Leicestershire rattled along at four to five runs an over.

A green-tinged pitch offered nothing to the Glamorgan seam attack with Rishi Patel the only man to go, edging to slip for 15 in David Lloyd’s first over.

Louis Kimber reached his 50 off just 68 balls as he smashed Andrew Salter for six over long-on, while Lewis Hill went off like a rocket as he took full advantage of anything wide outside off-stump.

Salter bowled tidily with eight overs for 24, but was on alarmingly early in proceedings to try a holding role.

Leicestershire are giving a Championship debut to Wrexham-born seamer Roman Walker, who left Glamorgan in search of first-class cricket last August but is only now playing his first official four-day game despite claiming five wickets in a friendly against India.

  6. Postpublished at 13:10 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

With rain and heat, lunch breaks are all over the place today.

  7. 'Good session for Sussex'published at 13:09 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Middlesex v Sussex 412-6

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

A good session for Sussex who despite losing Oli Carter and Delray Rawlins, have consolidated their position with an unbroken partnership between Cheteshwar Pujara and Danial Ibrahim.

Ibrahim, who is just 17, has looked completely unfazed on his first Championship appearance at Lord's, and together with Pujara who is twice his age, have added 66 for the seventh wicket

Tom Helm has been the pick of the Middlesex bowlers taking four wickets in the innings, but this looks a good batting track which so far is offering little help to the bowlers.

  8. wicket

WICKET Jennings c Vasconcelos b Kerrigan 27published at 13:04 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Northants 235 v Lancashire 50-2

Big wicket for Northants right before lunch.

Keaton Jennings had hit Simon Kerrigan for four the delivery before but pays the price for a tentative prod that finds its way to Ricardo Vasconeclos at first slip.

  9. Lunch at The Ovalpublished at 13:02 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Surrey 93-4 v Essex 271

A magnificent session for Essex comes to a close.

Three wickets, including Ollie Pope for 26, means they are on top against the Division One leaders.

  10. Postpublished at 12:52 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Gloucestershire v Hampshire 235-2

    Kit Harris
    BBC Sport commentator at Cheltenham

The rain has stopped, conditions are brightening and the mopping up operation has begun.

We’re going to have an early lunch with a view to restarting play at 13:25 BST. Hampshire will want to score quickly on the resumption.

  11. Lunch at Cheltenhampublished at 12:47 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Gloucestershire v Hampshire 235-2

They've taken an early lunch at Cheltenham.

Only half an hour's play this morning as Hampshire moved along from their overnight 203-2 with Felix Organ notching a century before, first, bad light and, then, rain halted play.

There's hope of a 13:25 BST restart but, as always, that depends on the weather playing ball. Some of the covers are coming off, so that's hopefully a good sign.

  12. wicket

WICKET Hameed c Cartwright b Aitchison 196published at 12:46 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Derbyshire v Notts 513-7

Haseeb Hameed falls just short of a maiden double century as he drives at a wide one from Ben Aitchison and is caught at point.

But it's a timely reminder to the England selectors with the Test series against South Africa just around the corner.

  13. wicket

WICKET Pope c Westley b Snater 26published at 12:43 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Surrey 88-4 v Essex 271

That's the big one for Essex!

Ollie Pope hits a full ball from Shane Snater straight to Tom Westley at mid-off.

Pope looks down at the pitch but has to go.

  14. Batting point for Bearspublished at 12:42 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Warwickshire 204-9 v Kent 165

One box ticked for the Bears as they pass 200 to ensure a batting point against Kent.

Next box will be a century for Sam Hain, currently unbeaten on 85.

And the third box will be to build as big a lead as possible. It's 39 at the minute.

  15. Resumption at Tauntonpublished at 12:40 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Somerset 298-6 v Yorkshire

We are back under way at Taunton but 11 overs have been lost for the day.

  16. Division Two updatepublished at 12:38 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

It's a comparative collapse for Nottinghamshire in Derby.

Having started the day on 439-1, the Division Two leaders have slipped to 507-6. Not bad still eh? Haseeb Hameed (192no) is eight runs shy of a double century after Ben Duckett's earlier 241.

Cheteshwar Pujara is unbeaten on 135 with Sussex on 389-6 against Middlesex, while Leicestershire - whose game against Glamorgan only began today - are going along nicely at 109-1 with opener Louis Kimber hitting a six to bring up his half-century.

  17. wicket

WICKET Miles c Billings b Saini 5published at 12:27 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Warwickshire 197-9 v Kent 165

Bowled Navdeep Saini. Caught Sam Billings. Copy and paste.

The Kent pair combine for the fourth time this Warwickshire innings as Craig Miles gets a thick edge and Billings takes a tidy diving low catch to his right.

A five-wicket haul on debut for Saini, after Lancashire's Washington Sundar also achieved that feat earlier this morning.

Warwickshire three runs away from a batting point with one wicket remaining in this very low-scoring affair. Poor Sam Hain (82*) in danger of being stranded and missing out on a century.

  18. Restart timespublished at 12:26 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

Good news from the West country where the rain is relenting.

Somerset v Yorkshire is set to restart at 12:40 BST with Gloucestershire and Hampshire poised to resume hostilities at 13:25 BST.

  19. Postpublished at 12:24 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Northants 235 v Lancashire 10-1

This is one heck of an opening spell from Northants pair Jack White and Ben Sanderson with the new ball.

They've restricted Lancashire to 14/1 from the first 10 overs.

  20. Postpublished at 12:17 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Gloucestershire v Hampshire 235-2

The covers remain on in Cheltenham where title-chasing Hampshire might be beginning to get a tad frustrated with the elements.

Tuesday's action was understandably shortened due to the extreme heat, while rain has limited play to just half an hour today.
