  1. wicket

WICKET Harris c Brown b Barker 9published at 15:21 British Summer Time 21 July 2022

    Gloucestershire 201 & 9-1 v Hampshire 457

Marcus Harris had struck Mohammad Abbas for two nice fours in the second over, but that proves his undoing in the next over.

The Australian goes to drive Keith Barker and nicks it to Ben Brown. A first wicket of the game for Barker.

    Nine more needed for Hampshire.

  2. Glos bat againpublished at 15:18 British Summer Time 21 July 2022

    Gloucestershire 201 & 9-0 v Hampshire

Gloucestershire openers Marcus Harris and Chris Dent have as expected come out to bat.

England's Joe Denly completes his first century of the summer.

    183 balls. 14 fours and a six.

It's his 30th in first-class cricket - 27 of which have been for Kent.

  4. Postpublished at 15:17 British Summer Time 21 July 2022

    Northants 235 & 166-7 v Lancashire 132

Simon Kerrigan hits Will Williams for successive fours to underline how Northants have taken control of this one.

The eighth wicket stand is now worth 91 and has changed the complexion of the match since the lunch break.

  5. 50 runs

Late finish expected in Brumpublished at 15:10 British Summer Time 21 July 2022

    Kent 165 & 231-4, Warwickshire 225

Half an hour gone at Edgbaston after the delayed 2.25 start.

With 60 overs to bowl today, assuming there’s no further weather interruptions, they're likely to play through until seven o'clock.

So far it has been steady progress for Kent, with Joe Denly moving to within 10 of a first century in three years - and Jordan Cox reaching 50 for the seventh time this season.

Kent lead by 171. This game will certainly not now be over today - and the weather forecast for tomorrow is dubious.

For now, although the sun has rather got its hat on, it is at least dry in Birmingham.

  6. wicket

WICKET Shaw c Gubbins b Fuller 0published at 15:03 British Summer Time 21 July 2022

    Gloucestershire 201 all out v Hampshire 457

    Innings over at Cheltenham.

James Fuller roughs up last man Josh Shaw with a short ball and from the next ball, Shaw can only loop up to Nick Gubbins at short leg.

Awaiting the decision, but I would be astonished if Gloucestershire are not batting again as they trail by 256.

  7. 50 runs

for Ryan Rickeltonpublished at 15:02 British Summer Time 21 July 2022

    Northants 235 & 140-7 v Lancashire 132

This is an invaluable innings from the South Africa batter.

A second 50 to go with two hundreds in three Championship games for Northants. He is playing a great hand in the context of this match.

And on that form, he could make the Proteas' team for the first Test against England at Lord's on 17 August.

  8. First batting point for Glospublished at 15:00 British Summer Time 21 July 2022

    Gloucestershire 201-9 v Hampshire 457

Graeme van Buuren sends a Felix Organ delivery to the fence and that brings up the 200.

It is a first batting point to go with the solitary bowling point. Slim pickings, but bottom-of-the-table Gloucestershire need all the points they can get.

  9. wicket

    WICKET - Snater c Amla b Roach 3published at 14:53 British Summer Time 21 July 2022

    Essex 271 & 167-9, Surrey 319

Six wickets in the post-lunch session now for Surrey.

Another one for Kemar Roach, the West Indies paceman's sixth victim of the match as Shane Snater spoons one to Hashim Amla at mid on.

Last man Jamie Porter comes in to join Simon Harmer.

Even the prodigious Harmer might struggle to win this one from here.

  10. 50 partnership for Rickelton and Kerriganpublished at 14:52 British Summer Time 21 July 2022

    Northants 235 & 125-7 v Lancashire 132

Excellent fight from Ryan Rickelton and Simon Kerrigan since lunch for Northants.

They bring up their 50 partnership in good time as they take the lead towards the 250 mark and what would be the highest score of the game.

  11. wicket

WICKET Chappell lbw b Organ 1published at 14:50 British Summer Time 21 July 2022

    Gloucestershire 194-9 v Hampshire 457

Zak Chappell tries to work Felix Organ to leg, misses and is out LBW. May have been a tad high, but umpire Graham Lloyd was convinced.

Hampshire captain James Vince will soon have a follow-on decision to make.

  12. 100 runs

for Brooke Guestpublished at 14:47 British Summer Time 21 July 2022

    Derbyshire 280-7 v Nottinghamshire 618-8 dec

Brooke Guest drives Dane Paterson straight down the ground to bring up an excellent century.

He has had to work for it, coming off 249 balls, but he is doing a great job for Derbyshire, replying to that whopping score from Notts.

  13. 50 runs

for Graeme van Buurenpublished at 14:41 British Summer Time 21 July 2022

    Gloucestershire 193-8 v Hampshire 457

Graeme van Buuren cracks his tenth four of the innings and that brings up his 50.

It is probably not going to prevent a follow-on but he has shown good resistance against the Hampshire attack and he gets a generous round of applause from the Cheltenham crowd.

  14. wicket

WICKET - Lawrence lbw b Worrall 47published at 14:40 British Summer Time 21 July 2022

    Essex 271 & 162-8, Surrey 319

Dan Worrall strikes again as he traps Dan Lawrence LBW for the second time in the match.

That's a fourth wicket for Aussie one-day international Worrall - and his 10th in the match, his second 10-wicket match haul, having also done it for South Australia against Western Australia at Adelaide in November 2018, but his first in this country.

"He's bowled beautifully," says BBC Radio London summariser Rikki Clarke. "Swinging it both ways."

Shane Snater comes in to join Simon Harmer.

  15. wicket

    WICKET - Rossington c Overton b Worrall 3published at 14:36 British Summer Time 21 July 2022

    Essex 271 & 161-7, Surrey 319

First-innings centurion Adam Rossington is next to go at The Oval, as he attempts a rather loose drive at Dan Worrall, edges and Jamie Overton's safe hands pouch the catch successfully at slip.

Simon Harmer, who made 50 in the first innings, is the new man in.

  16. Postpublished at 14:34 British Summer Time 21 July 2022

    Northants 235 & 113-7 v Lancashire

Ryan Rickelton has hit two fours in Luke Wood's latest over as his partnership with Simon Kerrigan is now worth 38.

The advantage is 216 and rising. If they could eke it out another 30-odd runs, that would be a big effort for Lancashire to chase.

  17. Game on in Birminghampublished at 14:32 British Summer Time 21 July 2022

    Kent 165 & 203-4, Warwickshire 225

Play is finally underway in Birmingham - three hours and 25 minutes late.

And Kent immediately bring up their 200. They are looking for a minimum 250-run lead.

Right now, they are 143 on.

  18. wicket

Two more wickets for Surrey at The Ovalpublished at 14:25 British Summer Time 21 July 2022

    Essex 271 & 154-6, Surrey 319

Two strikes in successive overs for Kemar Roach as he bags first Paul Walter, then Matt Critchley.

Essex, 48 behind on first innings, lead by only 106, and Surrey are now strongly scenting a sixtrh win in 10 Championship games this summer.

  19. wicket

WICKET T Price lbw b Abbott 0published at 14:23 British Summer Time 21 July 2022

    Gloucestershire 181-8 v Hampshire 457

Very little resistance from Tom Price.

Full and straight from Kyle Abbott and Price is trapped in front second ball. A first wicket of the innings for the South African.

  20. Kerrigan holding up his old countypublished at 14:20 British Summer Time 21 July 2022

    Northants 235 & 94-7 v Lancashire 132

Simon Kerrigan has contributed a very useful 10 in supporting Ryan Rickelton as the Northants' lead moves ever closer to 200.

It is now 196 with three wickets left.
