    Essex 271 & 130-4, Surrey 319

Early afternoon wicket for Surrey at The Oval as they prise out Nick Browne just two short of a half-century.

The visitors lead by only 82 as Paul Walter joins Dan Lawrence in the middle.

  4. Taunton glee for TKCpublished at 13:40 British Summer Time 21 July 2022

    Somerset 424, Yorkshire 230-6

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

Rarely can a visiting player's century have been applauded so enthusiastically at Taunton as Tom Kohler-Cadmore's.

The Somerset faithful know a good batsman when they see one, and next season, he'll be one of their own.

The fact that, having shown what he could do, TKC was then pinned LBW almost immediately afterwards by the part-time off-spin of Matt Renshaw made it almost the perfect passage of play.

That apart, it has been a quiet morning, with Yorkshire adding just 61 in 34 overs for the loss of two wickets. And Somerset's hopes of a worthwhile first innings lead are still very much alive.

  5. 'Lancashire fighting hard'published at 13:36 British Summer Time 21 July 2022

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

Lancashire needed to bowl themselves back into the match and perhaps even the title race and that was an outstanding display of bowling this morning.

Hardly a moment where the pressure was lifted, Bailey, Williams and Wood rotated throughout the morning, and all bowled superbly.

However, the lead is pushing towards 200 and the pitch certainly isn't getting any easier to bat on.

The home dressing room might be the more content one with runs on the board, but Lancashire are fighting hard

  7. Bit more hopeful in Brumpublished at 13:32 British Summer Time 21 July 2022

    Kent 165 & 198-4, Warwickshire 225

After a lost morning in Birmingham, there is a bit more hope of some cricket this afternoon.

It has stopped raining at Edgbaston and, although it is still murky, you can now at least see the Birmingham city centre on the skyline.

And umpires Michael Gough and Ian Blackwell will make an inspection at 1.45.

But, although the covers remain place for now, the groundstaff are already mopping up what rain did fall on tfhe outfield this morning.

  8. wicket

WICKET Taylor b Bailey 7published at 13:30 British Summer Time 21 July 2022

    Northants 235 & 75-7 v Lancashire 132

Oh Tom Bailey, you little beauty!

Tom Taylor tries to come down the wicket, but Bailey slips in a slower ball which the batter misses and sees the stumps broken. One for experience there.

That is lunch at Wantage Road. Four wickets for Bailey, who has led the Lancashire fightback this morning where Northants lead by 178.

  9. wicket

WICKET Higgins b Fuller 11published at 13:27 British Summer Time 21 July 2022

    Gloucestershire 169-6 v Hampshire 457

    Bowled him!

Ryan Higgins goes for a big heave across the line and has his stumps splattered by James Fuller. A poor shot.

And that is lunch. Hampshire miles on top in this one.

  10. Lunch at Tauntonpublished at 13:14 British Summer Time 21 July 2022

    Somerset 424 v Yorkshire 230-6

Despite Tom Kohler-Cadmore's century, his dismissal probably means it's Somerset's morning at Taunton.

  11. wicket

WICKET McManus b Bailey 0published at 13:11 British Summer Time 21 July 2022

    Northants 235 & 67-6 v Lancashire 132

Two out of three stumps out of the ground ain't too shabby!!

Tom Bailey has absolutely dismantled Lewis McManus' defences there, removing both off and middle stump! BOOM!!

This match is getting very interesting.

  12. Lunchtime in Leicesterpublished at 13:11 British Summer Time 21 July 2022

    Leicestershire 499-7 v Glamorgan

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Leicestershire have continued to build a formidable total despite batting in overcast conditions under floodlights on day two, with some movement to help the Glamorgan bowlers.

Harry Swindells was caught behind off Michael Hogan without adding to his overnight 52, while Wiaan Mulder’s superb knock came to an end on 156 when he played down the wrong line to be bowled by Michael Neser.

But Ben Mike was quickly into his stride with three fours in an over off Hogan, and found a willing partner in Championship debutant Roman Walker, the 21-year-old seamer from Wrexham who moved to Leicestershire last August in search of more first team cricket.

Mike was missed on 43 when a top edge off James Harris fell harmlessly between two confused fielders, and moved ominously to 70 not out by lunch.

  13. wicket

    WICKET O Price c Gubbins b Organ 59published at 13:08 British Summer Time 21 July 2022

    Gloucestershire 132-5 v Hampshire 457

A superb piece of work from Nick Gubbins at short leg to remove Ollie Price.

Gubbins anticipates Price's decision to sweep Felix Organ and makes a terrific one-handed catch.

That really was outstanding stuff from Gubbins.

A career-best score for Price, but he will be disappointed not to have got more after battling hard.

  14. Lunch at Lord'spublished at 13:04 British Summer Time 21 July 2022

    Middlesex 182-4 v Sussex 523

Bradley Currie has been the star of the morning with all four Middlesex wickets to fall.

  15. Lunch at Leicesterpublished at 13:03 British Summer Time 21 July 2022

    Leicestershire 499-7 v Glamorgan

Time for a break for the battered Glamorgan attack, while Ben Mike can enjoy his lunch on 70 not out.

  16. 50 stand for Surreypublished at 13:02 British Summer Time 21 July 2022

    Essex 271 & 118-3, Surrey 319

Nick Browne (45) and Dan Lawrence (28) complete a 50 partnership on the stroke of lunch at The Oval.

Essex can refuel on the back of a 70-run lead.

  17. wicket

    WICKET - Kohler-Cadmore lbw b Renshaw 100published at 12:55 British Summer Time 21 July 2022

    Somerset 424, Yorkshire 228-6

Just two balls after his ton, TKC is gone.

    How often does that happen?

Tom Kohler-Cadmore gets to his century with a highly-disciplined four and a half hour effort - and then, as soon as he reaches three figures, with his concentration disturbed, he misses a straight one from Middlesbrough-born Aussie Matt Renshaw and is gone.

It's only a ninth first-class career wicket for little-used spinner Renshaw, who also picked up three against Lancashire at Southport last week.

  18. 100 runs

Century for Tom Kohler-Cadmorepublished at 12:51 British Summer Time 21 July 2022

    Somerset 424, Yorkshire 225-5

    TKC's 10th first-class ton. 199 balls.

Solid effort that from Somerset-bound Tom Kohler-Cadmore.

A first for the former Worcestershire man in the County Championship since September 2019 - and a very nice way to introduce yourself to the locals.

He gets a very warm reception.

  19. wicket

WICKET Gay lbw b Wood 17published at 12:50 British Summer Time 21 July 2022

    Northants 235 & 63-5 v Lancashire 132

Emilio Gay has lasted 82 balls in this innings, but he's undone by a very full ball from Luke Wood.

The batter is on his way and it is Lancashire's morning here. Northants have lost 4-38 so far, either side of that rain stoppage.

    They lead by 166.

  20. 100 runs

100 up for Essexpublished at 12:48 British Summer Time 21 July 2022

    Essex 271 & 105-3, Surrey 319

Essex go past the 100-mark in their second innings with a rare boundary for Nick Browne.

He is now on 39 - and Dan Lawrence on 21.
