  1. Lunch at The Ovalpublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 26 July 2022

    Warwickshire 253, Surrey 79-3 (17 overs)

After taking the two wickets needed to bowl out Warwickshire, Surrey have raced to 79 inside 17 overs.

But they have lost three wickets in doing so - Ryan Patel (12 in five balls), Hasim Amla (9) and Rory Burns (27).

Ollie Pope looks in the mood on 26, at more than a run a ball, accompanied by another of Surrey's England men Ben Foakes.

  2. Lunch at Chelmsfordpublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 26 July 2022

    Essex 364-5 (126 overs) v Somerset

Nick Browne goes to lunch at Chelmsford on 168 - his highest score for Essex in five years.

Adam Rossington is on 11 following the morning loss of Paul Walter, bowled by one that kept low, and Matt Critchley, caught behind, both to Tom Lammonby.

  3. Lunch at Cheltenhampublished at 13:03 British Summer Time 26 July 2022

    Gloucestershire 317 v Northants 135-2

The removal of Will Young just before lunch has slightly changed the complexion of this match heading into the interval.

  4. Lunch at Trent Bridgepublished at 13:02 British Summer Time 26 July 2022

    Nottinghamshire 87-4 v Sussex

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

Three wickets for Ollie Robinson is the headline of the morning session.

It didn’t take long for the England man to mark his return for Sussex, taking a wicket in his second over when he bowled fellow Test player Haseeb Hammed.

He followed that with the wickets of Ben Duckett and Joe Clarke, bowling with his customary line and length - and perhaps most importantly with excellent rhythm.

Ben Slater batted through the session with the floodlights on under grey skies, He will be hoping that as the weather clears batting will become easier this afternoon.

  5. wicket

WICKET Young c Bracey b Gohar 61published at 12:58 British Summer Time 26 July 2022

    Gloucestershire 317 v Northants 134-2

    Gloucestershire really needed this.

A hint of turn and a feather of an edge but it all means Northants skipper Will Young is on his way back just before the lunchbreak.

  6. Lunch at Scarboroughpublished at 12:56 British Summer Time 26 July 2022

    Yorkshire 159, Hampshire 5-2

Good common sense decision in North Yorkshire.

Just 32 balls bowled. Four wickets. And two rain breaks.

    And now an early lunch.

Only 10 minutes early. But they've earned it!

And any lunch at Scarborough, in one of English cricket's prize fish and chip havens, is always a treat.

  7. Postpublished at 12:55 British Summer Time 26 July 2022

    Gloucestershire 317 v Northants 134-1

Compared to elsewhere around the country, things are a lot calmer at Cheltenham.

Will Young and Ryan Rickelton have now added 88 for the second wickets as Northants have scored more than 100 this morning.

  8. Division Two updatepublished at 12:52 British Summer Time 26 July 2022

Worcestershire were all out for 185, a lead of 55 at New Road. Derbyshire have already knocked 20 off that deficit without losing a wicket.

Ben Slater is holding things together for Nottinghamshire. He is 48 not out in a total of 82-4 against Sussex.

Durham are now 185-1, setting up a good platform at home to Middlesex.

  9. wicket

WICKET - Burns lbw b McAndrew 27published at 12:51 British Summer Time 26 July 2022

    Warwickshire 253, Surrey 72-3

Rory Burns is the third man out, leg before wicket to a ball from Aussie Nathan McAndrew that looks like it's hitting leg stump.

Burns looks disappointed - but then he always does when he's out.

  10. rain stops play

More rain again at Scarboroughpublished at 12:48 British Summer Time 26 July 2022

    Yorkshire 159, Hampshire 5-2

Once again. Off they go again straight after the fall of a wicket.

Any newcomer to the game turning up to watch for the first time must be totally baffled - and think it's the norm!

  11. wicket

WICKET Crawley c Wood b Williams 0published at 12:44 British Summer Time 26 July 2022

    Lancashire 145 v Kent 12-3

Zak Crawley is put out of his misery.

After 26 balls with no runs, Crawley thinks he's in business when Will Williams drifts onto his pads.

But Crawley's luck is out as his flick is brilliantly caught by Luke Wood at mid-wicket.

  12. 50 runs

for Will Youngpublished at 12:40 British Summer Time 26 July 2022

    Gloucestershire 317 v Northants 125-1

A first 50 for Will Young as Northants captain and the New Zealand opener does it in style with a six off Zafar Gohar.

  13. Centurion Jones marks Scottish call-uppublished at 12:36 British Summer Time 26 July 2022

    Durham 174-1 v Middlesex

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Both Michael Jones' two first-class centuries have come this season.

The latest of them is a nice way to celebrate a call-up to the Scotland ODI squad.

He last played for them in 2019. Hopefully he will feature against New Zealand at the weekend.

It hasn't been a straightforward morning though. Timing has been tough, with the overnight rain aiding the bowlers following a delay of 15 minutes to the start of play.

Jones was in the 90s for 10 overs but eventually reached three figures with a pull through midwicket off Ethan Bamber.

One wicket has fallen, England opener Alex Lees, bowled by Toby Roland-Jones in the fifth over of the day for 46, having put on an opening stand with Jones of 141.

It's a grey and cool day in Chester-le-Steeet.

  14. Off the mark with a boundarypublished at 12:36 British Summer Time 26 July 2022

    Lancashire 145 v Kent 10-2

Things have not been easy for Kent pair Joe Denly and Zak Crawley.

The England opener is stuck on nought, but Denly got off that figure with a glorious extra cover drive off Will Williams.

Interestingly, Crawley has kept his penchant for a booming drive in cold storage so far.

  15. wicket

WICKET Organ lbw b Thompson 5published at 12:32 British Summer Time 26 July 2022

    Yorkshire 159, Hampshire 5-2

Back on at Scarborough after the rain break - and Yorkshire take just four balls to strike again.

Opener Felix Organ is trapped LBW by Jordan Thompson, looking to turn one on the leg side. Dubious decision?

Nick Gubbins is fhe new man in.

  16. wicket

    WICKET - Walter b Lammonby 86published at 12:32 British Summer Time 26 July 2022

    Essex 338-4 v Somerset

Paul Walter is bowled by Tom Lammonby just 14 shirt of his century - and that brings his 174-run stand with centurion Nick Browne to an end.

Matt Critchley comes in to join Browne, who has moved on to 157.

  17. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 12:31 British Summer Time 26 July 2022

    Warwickshire 253, Surrey 31-2

An early life for Ollie Pope is he appears to be missed behind the timbers by wicketkeeper Michael Burgess off Oliver Hannon-Dalby.

Burgess is standing up to OHD - and has lately had a lot of success doing that but the reaction of the fielders suggests that he has put a thin edge down there.

  18. 100 runs

for Michael Jonespublished at 12:28 British Summer Time 26 July 2022

    Durham 170-1 v Middlesex

On 99, Michael Jones gets a leg-stump half volley to send to the boundary to bring up his hundred.

That is a second first-class century for the Scotland batter and it has taken 198 balls and included 19 fours.

  19. wicket

    WICKET - Amla lbw Hannon-Dalby 9published at 12:23 British Summer Time 26 July 2022

    Warwickshire 253, Surrey 25-2

    Big scalp for Oliver Hannon-Dalby.

    Hashim Amla gone. Plumb.

No argument from the veteran South African.

Ollie Pope is the new man in to join fellow England man Rory Burns, who has so far made a watchful 4 off 25 balls.

And Pope quickly then becomes the first Surrey bat to get off the mark with a four.

  20. wicket

WICKET Bell-Drummond lbw b Williamspublished at 12:20 British Summer Time 26 July 2022

    Lancashire 145 v Kent 5-2

    Second Kent wicket.

Pinpoint accuracy from Will Williams and it catches Daniel Bell-Drummond on the crease and he has to go.

Make that eight wickets in this session. And don't bet against a couple more!
