Another good day's county cricket done and dusted.

Less rain around today - and a late finish.

Join us again at 10:45 tomorrow morning for more of the same.

  3. Close of play at Worcesterpublished at 19:16 British Summer Time 26 July 2022

    Worcestershire 185 v Derbyshire 130 & 286-6

A brilliant last session for Derbyshire.

Anuj Dal finishes on 85 and Matt McKiernan has 58 and they have put on 120 for the seventh wicket.

  4. Close of play at Trent Bridgepublished at 19:12 British Summer Time 26 July 2022

    Nottinghamshire 240 v Sussex 94-5

Cheteshwar Pujara and Archie Lenham make it to stumps and will come back to face the music tomorrow.

  5. Close of play at Old Traffordpublished at 19:10 British Summer Time 26 July 2022

    Lancashire 145 & 2-0 v Kent 270

Keaton Jennings and Luke Wells survive the two overs, but it's Kent who are in control at Old Trafford.

  6. Close of play at Scarboroughpublished at 19:05 British Summer Time 26 July 2022

    Yorkshire 159 & 23-1 (13 overs), Hampshire 218

Yorkshire get through to the close with opener Adam Lyth on 10 and Tom Kohler-Cadmore on 13 - for the only loss of George Hill.

They now trail title-chasing Hampshire by only 36 runs with nine wickets remaining to set up an intriguing third day.

  7. Matt Henry with the ballpublished at 19:03 British Summer Time 26 July 2022

    Lancashire 145 & 0-0 v Kent 270

Matt Henry opened the day with a bang. He will now bowl one of the two overs that remain today.

And he's convinced he has Luke Wells strangled down leg off the first ball, but it's not given.

  8. wicket

KENT ALL OUT FOR 270published at 18:57 British Summer Time 26 July 2022

    Lancashire 145 v Kent 270 all out

Navdeep Saini looks like a rabbit and proves as he skies one to mid-off, leaving Grant Stewart unbeaten on 64 at the other end.

The lead is 125 runs, which looks more than useful.

Tom Bailey finishes with an impressive 6-64, his second best figures in an innings.

Lancashire will have to face a very tricky final two overs this evening.

  9. Three overs left at Scarboroughpublished at 18:52 British Summer Time 26 July 2022

    Yorkshire 17-1 (10 overs) v Hampshire

No further alarms so far for Adam Lyth and Tom Kohler-Cadmore after the disappointment of losing that early wicket of George Hill.

Although there is a slightly awkward squawk for Kohler-Cadmore as he pulls out at the last minute from an anticipated Kyle Abbott delivery when a low flying seagull flies across his path just as the bowler is about to bowl.

The ball from Abbott goes on to hit the stumps - but Hampshire accept that TKC was making no attempt to play a shot and it is rightly ruled a dead ball.

    No comment from the gull.

  10. wicket

WICKET Gilchrist b Williams 5published at 18:40 British Summer Time 26 July 2022

    Lancashire 145 v Kent 260-9

Will Williams is full and straight and it's too good for Nathan Gilchrist.

Lancashire could be batting again this evening.

  11. Close of play at The Ovalpublished at 18:38 British Summer Time 26 July 2022

    Warwickshire 253 & 1-0 (2 overs), Surrey 316

Warwickshire's gamble pays off - and Dom Sibley has survived.

Danny Briggs faced nine of the 12 balls sent down - and Sibley, the Surrey old boy who is due to return to The Oval at the end of the season, has a platform to impress tomorrow.

  12. Close of play at Cheltenhampublished at 18:36 British Summer Time 26 July 2022

    Gloucestershire 317 v Northants 353-7

Northants go to stumps with a lead of 36, but Zafar Gohar's four wickets have kept Gloucestershire in the game.

  13. Bears use nightwatchmanpublished at 18:35 British Summer Time 26 July 2022

    Warwickshire 253 & 1-0 (1.3 overs), Surrey 316

Two overs left for Warwickshire to face tonight - and Danny Briggs comes out to face the first of them as nightwatchman.

He survives the first of them from Kemar Roach, then, in the second over from Jordan Clark, in trying to get Dom Sibley off strike, the England opener is almost run out in a right mix-up by a direct hit from Jamie Overton which just misses.

    Shocking cricket!

  14. Division Two updatepublished at 18:34 British Summer Time 26 July 2022

Derbyshire are fighting hard at New Road. Anuj Dal is on 72 and Matt McKiernan 44 as they move to 259-6, a lead of 204 over Worcestershire.

Chesteshwar Pujara and Archie Lenham are trying to rebuild for Sussex at 77-5 against Nottinghamshire.

Middlesex have seen off nine overs and are 18-0, replying to Durham's 421-7 declared.

  15. Close of play at Chelmsfordpublished at 18:29 British Summer Time 26 July 2022

    Essex 505-9 dec, Somerset 99-1

    Another prompt finish at Chelmsford.

Not quite as bang on time as last night but still pretty impressive.

Somerset need just one more run to reach their 100 in the morning as they reply to Essex's slow but weighty 505-9 declared.

Matt Renshaw is on 36 and Tom Abell on 27 - but they still trail by 406 - and the more immediate target is a further 257 to make sure they do not get asked to follow on.

  16. Five-wicket haul for Tom Baileypublished at 18:24 British Summer Time 26 July 2022

    Lancashire 145 v Kent 253-8

Lancashire take the new ball and Tom Bailey requires two deliveries to get his fifth wicket.

That's 5-51 for the Red Rose stalwart, the 11th five-for of his career.

He has Matt Henry strangled down legside, but the New Zealander has contributed a useful 16.

  17. wicket

SURREY ALL OUT FOR 316published at 18:24 British Summer Time 26 July 2022

    Warwickshire 253, Surrey 316 (80.1 overs)

Two wickets in successive balls finish off the Surrey innings.

Conor McKerr is LBW to Danny Briggs for 37 with the last ball of the next and then Oliver Hannon-Dalby removes Jamie Overton for 38 with the first ball of the next.

Potentially awkward few overs for Dom Sibley and Alex Davies to face, if the light holds.

  18. wicket

WICKET McManus b Gohar 29published at 18:21 British Summer Time 26 July 2022

    Gloucestershire 317 v Northants 350-7

Lewis McManus tries to sweep Zafar Gohar and is bowled.

He had put on 53 with James Sales but Gloucestershire slow up Northants again.

  19. wicket

WICKET - Hill lbw b Abbas 0published at 18:18 British Summer Time 26 July 2022

    Yorkshire 159 & 0-1; Hampshire 218

George Hill is given out LBW - the second big shout against him in successive balls. And Mohammad Abbas makes a big breakthrough in only the second over.

He goes for a fifth-ball duck, to follow his first-baller in the first innings.

He at least avoided a King Pair- but it's still a pair. His first. Ouch!

Tom Kohler-Cadmore is the new man.

  20. Lead into three figurespublished at 18:16 British Summer Time 26 July 2022

    Lancashire 145 v Kent 246-7

Matt Henry is not one to stand on ceremony and he clubs one from Washington Sundar out for four.

That stretches the advantage to 101.

Lancashire won last week against Northants, giving up a first innings deficit of 103. This feels like a much harder match to turn around.
