  1. Notts roar back against Foxespublished at 16:58 British Summer Time 5 September 2022

    Notts 201 v Leicestershire 33-4

    Luke FletcherImage source, Rex Features

There is a wrecking ball at work at Trent Bridge and its name is Luke Fletcher.

The Notts paceman removes Colin Ackermann and Rishi Patel in the same over and now has 4-9 from six.

After a disappointing day with the bat, they are now determined to enjoy themselves under lights, which are on because of gloomy overhead conditions.

for Matt Critchleypublished at 16:56 British Summer Time 5 September 2022

    Kent v Essex 265-4

A third half century of the Essex innings for Matt Critchley.

It has arrived from 90 balls. Now can he succeed where Sir Alastair Cook and Tom Westley failed and go on to three figures?

    Hants 151-4 v Northants

Liam Dawson will be off to join England's T20 squad at the end of this match, so he'll want to sign off with a Hampshire victory.

Tom Taylor tests him with an attempted bouncer and is pulled away for four.

Undaunted, the paceman tries again with the same result, although Dawson didn't make quite such a clean contact this time.

  4. wicket

WICKET Came b Gibson 78published at 16:51 British Summer Time 5 September 2022

    Derbys 255-6 v Durham

    It's cruel to laugh, but....

Ollie Gibson bowls Harry Came with a rapid yorker....but that's not the funny bit.

The ball ricochets off the stump and hits Scott Borthwick a painful blow on the right foot....

He falls to the ground clutching the tender spot, before finally getting to his feet and hopping towards Gibson to offer his congratulations.

It's all gone smoothly so far today for Gloucestershire opener Marcus Harris - except for one moment, that is.....

  6. Postpublished at 16:44 British Summer Time 5 September 2022

    Somerset v Gloucs 271-2

It's been a tough county baptism for Sajid Khan, who is swept for four by Marcus Harris, who ends the over by cutting for another.

Khan has 0-64 from his 26 overs and Harris is now 138 not out, with Miles Hammond on six.

  7. wicket

WICKET Vince c Vasconcelos b Taylor 19published at 16:40 British Summer Time 5 September 2022

    Hants 139-4 v Northants

Hampshire will be hoping for a positive end to the day following the earlier rain and James Vince square cuts Ben Sanderson for an effortless four to move to 19 not out.

Tom Taylor bowls the next over and there is the shot that brought about Vince's downfall in Test cricket so often - an attempted drive and an edge through to the keeper.

  8. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 16:38 British Summer Time 5 September 2022

    Lancashire 232-2 v Yorkshire

There should have been a third wicket for Yorkshire.

With two catchers at short midwicket, Steven Croft clips it straight to one of them, Adam Lyth.

It goes through his hands, hits his face and the ball goes down.

Croft remains, but Lyth needs treatment and goes off holding his nose.

  9. wicket

WICKET Barnard lbw Patel 75published at 16:38 British Summer Time 5 September 2022

    Glamorgan v Worcs 241-5

No sooner have we said that Ed Barnard and Gareth Roderick are still going well for Worcestershire than Barnard tries to sweep a ball from Ajaz Patel and is gone.

It's the New Zealand spinner's first wicket for his new club.

  10. Division Two round-uppublished at 16:37 British Summer Time 5 September 2022

Leicestershire have lost their first wicket at Trent Bridge after dismissing Notts for 201, with Hassan Azad caught behind off Luke Fletcher for one. The visitors are 27-1 in the eighth over.

The Ed Barnard-Gareth Roderick stand continues for Worcestershire at Sophia Gardens. The visitors are 241-4, Barnard has 75 and Roderick 66, and they have so far added 127.

Derbyshire are now 251-5 against Durham, with a second batting point secured. Harry Came has 77 not out and Anuj Dal is on 26.

  11. wicket

WICKET Price c Rew b Lammonby 52published at 16:28 British Summer Time 5 September 2022

    Somerset v Gloucs 251-2

    A disappointing end.

Tom Lammonby angles one across Ollie Price, who drives without moving his front foot far enough and edges to the keeper.

Price's stand with Marcus Harris - who has 122 - was worth 125.

  12. wicket

WICKET Jennings b Hill 119published at 16:28 British Summer Time 5 September 2022

    Lancashire 231-2 v Yorkshire

And just like that, Keaton Jennings is out!

Coming round the wicket, George Hill gets one past Jennings' outside edge and it hits the stumps. From the batter's reaction, it looks like there was a nice bit of shape to that delivery.

Still, a terrific knock from the Lancashire opener. 235 balls with 15 fours and a six and he has really set up the innings.

For Yorkshire, Hill has done an excellent job. He has 2-19 in his ninth over.

  13. Jennings puts his foot downpublished at 16:20 British Summer Time 5 September 2022

    Lancashire 219-1 v Yorkshire

    Keaton JenningsImage source, Getty Images

Having reached his hundred, Keaton Jennings has struck four boundaries, two in a row off George Hill and then the same off Dom Bess.

As well as runs, Lancashire will be conscious of time as they have until 110 overs to rack up bonus points.

They have one so far, with 37 overs left to try and get a maximum of four more.

  14. wicket

WICKET Westley run out 54published at 16:14 British Summer Time 5 September 2022

    Kent v Essex 221-4

    This is absolutely ridiculous!

Matt Critchley steers one down to third and they go through for two and then decide to go for a third run, but with no great urgency.

Suddenly, Tom Westley is in trouble from Joe Denly's throw and he is run out. Madness!

Westley out for 54 when he was going so nicely.

  15. 50 runs

for Ollie Pricepublished at 16:13 British Summer Time 5 September 2022

    Somerset v Gloucs 241-1

Thankfully they are back in the middle at Taunton and Ollie Price wastes no time in pulling Kasey Aldridge for a single to reach a 127-ball 50 - his third of the season.

Somerset need wickets in this final session but the pitch is not offering them much assistance.

  16. Century stand for Worcestershirepublished at 16:11 British Summer Time 5 September 2022

    Glamorgan 217-4 v Worcs

Ed Barnard strokes New Zealand's Ajaz Patel for a single as he and Gareth Roderick post an invaluable century partnership for Worcestershire at Sophia Gardens.

Barnard is 61 not out and Roderick is 57, having reached his half-century off 137 balls by punching Timm van der Gugten through mid-off for four.

  17. Tea at the Ageas Bowlpublished at 16:06 British Summer Time 5 September 2022

    Hampshire 129-3 v Northamptonshire

Luke Procter sends down a couple of no-balls but there are no runs off the bat in the final over before tea, which arrives with Felix Organ 58 not out and James Vince on 10.

A further 33 overs are scheduled following the lengthy rain hold-up earlier in the day.

  18. 100 runs

for Keaton Jenningspublished at 16:05 British Summer Time 5 September 2022

    Lancashire 198-1 v Yorkshire

There it is, a single to bring up Keaton Jennings' century.

And it is Roses history for the Lancashire opener as he scores a fourth first-class hundred in as many innings in this great fixture - the first Red Rose man to do so.

This latest effort follows on from previous scores of 238, 132 and 114. Well batted!

  19. How much for an ice cream?published at 15:59 British Summer Time 5 September 2022

    Lancashire 192-1 v Yorkshire

Play is back under way at Old Trafford.

Quick chance for a walk around the ground and a trip to the ice-cream van. Lovely jubbly!

In the recent Test match here as a spectator with a couple of friends, one of them bought ice creams for us as a refreshment in the hot afternoon.

    The cost - £6 each!

  20. rain stops play

Rain stops play at Tauntonpublished at 15:58 British Summer Time 5 September 2022

    Somerset v Gloucestershire 237-1

A single off Sajid Khan takes Ollie Price to 49 not out but rain then brings a halt to proceedings at the Cooper Associates County Ground.

Partner Marcus Harris has 113 and together these two have added 111 since the dismissal of Ben Charlesworth for 56.
