    Hants 125-3 v Northants

James Vince has his first boundary and no, it wasn't his trademark cover drive. Luke Procter strays onto the Hampshire skipper's pads and he is able to glance it away with considerable comfort down to fine leg.

  2. wicket

WICKET Gubbins b Procter 23published at 15:44 British Summer Time 5 September 2022

    Hants 107-3 v Northants

Time for Luke Procter to have a bowl and Nick Gubbins square cuts his first ball for four.

Gubbins tries to repeat the shot but the second darts back at him and he only succeeds in chopping it into his stumps.

He can hardly believe it and stares forlornly down the pitch for an age before walking off.

  3. Tea at Trent Bridgepublished at 15:44 British Summer Time 5 September 2022

    Notts 201 v Leicestershire

A great moment for first-class newcomer Michael Finan, who claims his maiden wicket as Dane Paterson slogs a catch to deep mid-wicket.

It's been a fine bowling performance by Leicestershire, who have cleaned up Division Two leaders Notts in 61.3 overs.

Chris Wright and Ed Barnes were the pick - with 3-26 and 3-32 respectively.

Now what can the Foxes doe with the bat after tea?

  4. Postpublished at 15:42 British Summer Time 5 September 2022

    Hants 103-2 v Northants

Because of the earlier rain, tea won't be taken until 16:00 at the Ageas Bowl.

Hampshire's total reaches three figures as Felix Organ flicks a misdirected delivery from Lizaad Williams away for four - he is 58 not out.

for Tom Westleypublished at 15:35 British Summer Time 5 September 2022

    Kent v Essex 205-3

Essex captain Tom Westley brings up his 50, shortly after his team grabs the first batting point.

Off 78 balls with ten fours, he has batted fluently. This is a good chance to better his season's best Championship score of 75.

    Derbyshire 201-5 v Durham

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

For the first time this season, Leus Du Plooy has failed to score a century in the County Championship against Durham.

Having scored 122* and 134 at Chester-le-Street in July he looked set for a third hundred today but edged spinner Liam Trevaskis behind on 82. That ended a partnership with Harry Came of 143 runs for the fifth wicket.

They had brought up the first batting point and the stand was much-needed because Derbyshire were 58-4 when they came together. Came has 56, his second half-century in FC cricket after scoring 70 against Notts earlier this season.

  10. 50 runs

for Felix Organpublished at 15:29 British Summer Time 5 September 2022

    Hants 88-2 v Northants

Good shot by Felix Organ, who drives Tom Taylor past mid-off for four.

He produces an even better one later in the over that just misses the stumps at the bowlers' end and carries him to an 88-ball half-century.

It's the eighth boundary of his innings and it's the fifth time he has passed 50 in the Championship this season.

  11. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 15:28 British Summer Time 5 September 2022

    Kent v Essex 194-3

    Almost another wicket for Kent!

Matt Critchley knocks it to Ben Compton at forward short leg off Jack Leaning, but Compton can't cling on.

  12. Tea at Old Traffordpublished at 15:26 British Summer Time 5 September 2022

    Lancashire 181-1 v Yorkshire

That wicket of Luke Wells is the only blemish of the day so far for Lancashire.

Keaton Jennings goes to tea on 90 not out, with 32 overs left in the final session.

Yorkshire have plugged away valiantly and can they chip away with wickets after tea?

  13. wicket

WICKET Du Plooy c Mackintosh b Trevaskis 82published at 15:21 British Summer Time 5 September 2022

    Derbys 201-5 v Durham

A little bit of drift for Liam Trevaskis and Leus du Plooy edges through to the keeper as he tries to force it away off the back foot.

Good catch by Thomas Mackintosh and it ends a 143-run partnership with Harry Came, who is 55 not out.

But Derbyshire have the consolation of their first batting point.

  14. wicket

WICKET Wells c Waite b Hill 84published at 15:18 British Summer Time 5 September 2022

    Lancashire 180-1 v Yorkshire

Yorkshire strike in the penultimate over before tea.

Luke Wells goes to pull George Hill over midwicket, but he does not get all of it and it is well taken in the deep by Matthew Waite.

The opener is frustrated as he walks off, having done so much of the hard work.

  15. wicket

    WICKET Lawrence b Bell-Drummond 9published at 15:18 British Summer Time 5 September 2022

    Kent v Essex 181-3

    Dan LawrenceImage source, Rex Features

The part-time bowling of Daniel Bell-Drummond does the trick for Kent.

His loopy full toss-yorker deceives Dan Lawrence, and flies into the stumps.

The home side creeping back into things.

  16. Tea at Tauntonpublished at 15:14 British Summer Time 5 September 2022

    Somerset v Gloucestershire 217-1

Somerset give Lewis Goldsworthy his first bowl of the day in the final over before tea at Taunton.

Gloucestershire content themselves with three singles as Marcus Harris and Ollie Price take their partnership to 91.

Harris is 108 not out, Price has 34 - two sessions are done and dusted and the visitors have won them both.

  17. Division Two round-uppublished at 15:11 British Summer Time 5 September 2022

Leicestershire have fully justified their decision to bowl first by reducing leaders Notts to 170-8 at Trent Bridge. Ed Barnes now has three wickets after having Steven Mullaney lbw for 21.

Ed Barnard has reached 50 off just 58 balls for Worcestershire against Glamorgan. The visitors are 188-4 after 60 overs.

Derbyshire are very close to their first batting point, on 199-4 against Durham. Leus du Plooy is 81 not out and Harry Came has 54.

  18. Postpublished at 15:05 British Summer Time 5 September 2022

    Hants 72-2 v Northants

A double change by Northants as Tom Taylor and Lizaad Williams relieve Jack White and Ben Sanderson.

Taylor's first over of the game yields five runs and Nick Gubbins square cuts Williams four as the South African gets his line and length long.

  19. 100 runs

for Marcus Harrispublished at 15:04 British Summer Time 5 September 2022

    Somerset v Gloucs 209-1

"He's done a fine job for his side," says BBC Radio Somerset's Anthony Gibson as Marcus Harris runs Sajid Khan down to third man for four to reach his third Championship hundred of the season.

This one took him 174 balls and included a six and 13 fours. The platform is there for Gloucestershire to build a very large total - do they have the tools to build on it?

  20. Fisher out in the fieldpublished at 15:04 British Summer Time 5 September 2022

    Lancashire 175-0 v Yorkshire

Matt Fisher is out in the field doing the substitute work for Yorkshire, having not played since April due to a back injury.

The White Rose are hopeful that the bowler will be fit enough for next Monday's Championship game against Essex.

It has been a very frustrating summer for Fisher, having made his England debut in the West Indies in March with Matthew Potts and then Ollie Robinson getting their chance in the Test team and getting wickets.
