    Hants 400-9d v Northants 79-1

Remarkably, they hauled their way to maximum batting points yesterday and now they seek to take another 19 wickets.

Northants made a very steady start yesterday, losing only Will Young, so they will be confident of trying to bat through today and get back in the match.

    Somerset 248 v Gloucs 343

The dismissal of last Somerset batter Jack Brooks gives Tom Price an innings haul of 5 for 75.

    BBC Radio Somerset's Anthony Gibson:

"So Somerset fell two runs short of a second batting point. Even so, the last two wickets added a potentially crucial 69. James Rew finished unbeaten on a battling 44, eked out from 168 balls. It wasn't pretty, but it was what the situation demanded."

    Lancs 276 v Yorks 159-6

Another Yorkshire wicket at Old Trafford and it's pretty similar to the previous one, except that Tom Bailey is the bowler and not Will Williams.

It's a good delivery which induces the edge and George Lavelle does the necessary.

Can Kent get a stand together to give them something to think about today?

Jack Leaning and Jordan Cox are trying to get their side going this morning.

424 is the follow-on mark so they will probably need to bat until tomorrow lunchtime to get past it.

Sam Evans carried his bat through Leicestershire's first innings - but he's the first to go in the second.

In truth, that's a pretty poor shot. It's a wide ball by Dane Paterson, he tries to drive it and keeper Tom Moores takes the catch.

Paterson now has 47 Championship wickets this season - will he be the second to 50 after Kyle Abbott reached the half-century yesterday?

  13. Postpublished at 11:01 British Summer Time 7 September 2022

    Somerset 227-9 v Gloucs 343

Payne gets the ball to bounce awkwardly and move away from the left-handed James Rew.

Two no balls in the over. 12 conceded in all.

  16. Division Two updatepublished at 10:57 British Summer Time 7 September 2022

Nottinghamshire are still striving for their first breakthrough of the morning at Trent Bridge, with Leicestershire now 29-0 after being set an unlikely victory target of 499 yesterday evening.

That's more like it by Tom Kohler-Cadmore as he eases the final ball of Tom Bailey's latest over through the covers for four.

There's a boundary to begin the next one too, with Jonny Tattersall working Will Williams away through mid-wicket.

  18. Derbyshire earn 83-run leadpublished at 10:52 British Summer Time 7 September 2022

    Derbys 306 v Durham 223

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

It took Derbyshire just 12 balls to see off the final Durham pair this morning, dismissing them for 223, a poor total when they had been 79-0 at one point.

The last man to go was Ollie Gibson who got a 12-ball duck, leaving Sam Conners with figures of 4-55 in 16 overs.

Meanwhile, Nic Maddinson's bat is being boxed up and sent to the ECB after failing a second size test last night. It is claimed he used the bat in a previous match against Sussex and on that occasion it did pass through the bat gauge.

Durham could be facing a points deduction of up to 16 points as a result of this saga.
