  1. 50 runs

for Essex's Snaterpublished at 17:54 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Yorkshire 134 & 252, Essex 225 & 142-7

If Essex do complete this victory, they will owe plenty to Shane Snater.

He took 3-39 in Yorkshire's first innings, hit 46 in Essex's reply and has now registered an excellent half-century to guide his side within 20 runs of their victory target.

The Dutchman's 50 came off 38 balls and has included seven fours and a six.

  2. WORCESTERSHIRE DECLARE AT HOVEpublished at 17:53 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Sussex 220, Worcestershire 438-5

Worcestershire have declared on 438-5, leaving Sussex with a 218-run deficit - and 10 overs to face tonight.

    Awks!

  3. Bad light stops play at Edgbastonpublished at 17:50 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Somerset 219 & 263-4, Warwickshire 196

    They're coming off at Edgbaston,

The light has faded very fast in Birmingham, umpires Neil Mallender and James Middlebrook consulted their light meters - and that was that.

Somerset now lead by 286 - and that looks like that for the night.

After a 98-over day, it looks six will be lost. Official confiimation of the close of play will no doubt follow.

  4. ouch!

Postpublished at 17:49 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Yorkshire 134 & 252, Essex 225 & 136-7

Ben Allison is stuck very sharply on the hand by a delivery from George Hill.

He takes a minute to shake it off before tucking away a single a couple of deliveries later.

  5. Postpublished at 17:45 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Yorkshire 134 & 252, Essex 225 & 135-7

Another big over from Shane Snater for Essex - and this could be the game.

After a pair of twos, he twice cuts Jordan Thompson away to third man for four. Altogether 13 runs came from that over.

Essex closing in on victory, needing just 27 to win.

  6. 'No ball' blow for Yorkshirepublished at 17:40 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Yorkshire 134 & 252, Essex 225 & 122-7

Huge moment at Headingley as George Hill uproots Ben Allison's stumps and wheels away - but the umpire signals a no ball.

Hill can't believe it. With Essex needing only 40 to win, how big could that be?

  7. Somerset 250 up at Edgbastonpublished at 17:35 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Somerset 219 & 260-4, Warwickshire 196

Somerset's lead has now moved on to 283 as the visitors' 250 comes up in Birmingham.

George Bartlett has moved on to 79, while Lewis Goldworthy is on 40.

Only two wickets have fallen today, Warwickshire have been batted out of it - and it has done nothing to boost the reigning champions' hopes of avoiding relegation.

If they can at least bat out the day tomorrow and avoid defeat, then much would depend on their trip to Bristol next week when they play bottom club Gloucestershire.

But, if they lose this, with a final game to come at home to title-chasing Hampshire, then they really would be up against it.

  8. Big over from Snaterpublished at 17:32 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Yorkshire 134 & 252, Essex 225 & 116-7

Shane Snater dispatches George Hill to the boundary twice and also adds a two - 10 from an expensive over from a Yorkshire perspective.

Essex need 46 more, are they back favourites again? Who knows.

  9. wicket

WICKET - Procter lbw b Atkinson 55published at 17:27 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Northants 339 & 161-5, Surrey 421

    Big wicket for Surrey.

Luke Procter tries to shift his feet to dispatch a Gus Atkinson yorker down leg side but he can't manage it and it strikes his foot or low on the pads.

Once he hasn't hit it, it looked a candidate for leg before and the umpire decides that indeed it is. Bit unlucky to see a very impressive half-century end like that but it was good bowling.

Surrey trail by 80 runs but with half the job done in regards to dismissing the Northants' batsmen.

  10. 100 runs

up for Essexpublished at 17:25 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Yorkshire 134 & 252, Essex 225 & 102-7

Tail-ender Ben Allison is displaying the sort of patience needed by some of his colleagues higher up the order.

He's 2no off 20 balls, hogging the strike a bit from the bigger-hitting Shane Snater. But time is Essex's friend, needing 60 to win today and tomorrow - it's wickets they are lacking, just three left.

  11. 200 runs

Double century for Jake Libbypublished at 17:19 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Sussex 220, Worcestershire 434-4

The first double century of Jake Libby's career as Worcestershire pile on the runs at Hove.

After the late 4.00 start, the Pears have already added 145 today to build their lead over the hosts. They now have a 200-run cushion to play with as skipper Brett D'Oliveira, out in the middle on 36 from 33 balls, weighs up when might be best to declare.

Libby, who is now finally out for 215, had never previously gone beyond 184, which he got for the Pears against Glamorgan in the Bob Willis Trophy at New Road in August 2020.

  12. 50 runs

50 for Northants' Procterpublished at 17:17 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Northants 339 & 152-4, Surrey 421

Meanwhile, at Wantage Road, Northants are rebuilding patiently and admirably against title-chasing Surrey, who are enduring a frustrating spell with the ball.

Luke Procter has brought up his half-century by swatting Gus Atkinson away for a single. The 50 has taken 129 balls and only included four boundaries, with the majority of his runs coming from singles.

Northants' lead is up to 70 but, just as importantly, they are using up vital minutes and hours in this game.

  13. Postpublished at 17:14 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Yorkshire 134 & 252, Essex 225 & 97-7

There are 19 overs left in the day at Headingley plus a possible extra half hour if required.

Plenty of time to get a result. No idea which way though. Only a fool would try to guess after all the twists and turns in this match.

  14. wicket

    WICKET - Rossington c Fraine b Hill 7published at 17:03 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Yorkshire 134 & 252, Essex 225 & 93-7

A brilliant catch at short mid-wicket by Will Fraine dismisses Adam Rossington and continues Yorkshire's victory charge.

Rossington had got off the mark the previous over after a watchful start, with a four and a three. But Yorkshire are rewarded for bringing George Hill into the attack to switch things up.

Three wickets needed for the White Rose. Essex's hopes lie with the big-hitting Shane Snater who has 14no off 10 balls. They need 69 more runs to win.

  15. Glamorgan collapsing at Lord'spublished at 17:00 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Glamorgan 214 & 144-6, Middlesex 390

From 123-0 just before tea, Glamorgan have lost six wickets for just 21 runs.

The loss of skipper David Lloyd for 70 was followed by Eddie Byrom for 47 and Sam Northeast for a third-ball duck straight after tea to Toby Roland-Jones. But three more wickets have now gone down for one run in two overs.

After Tim Murtagh's removal of Kiran Carlson for 9, Billy Root went for a six-ball duck, then there was a second wicket for Ethan Bamber before Murtagh struck again to get Shubman Gill for 11.

Second-placed Glamorgan still trail by 32 with only four wickets remaining as Chris Cooke and Middlesex old boy James Harris attempt to batten down the hatches.

Middlesex, who started this game in fourth, may well be on their way to second place themselves - possibly even tonight.

  16. 6 runs

for Essex's Snaterpublished at 16:57 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Yorkshire 134 & 252, Essex 225 & 86-6

All-out attack from Essex's Shane Snater. It's all happening at Headingley.

He hits Steven Patterson over long on for six, then finds the same area for four next ball.

A couple of deliveries later, Patterson goes for four leg byes.

Pendulum swinging all over the place. It has been all day. Essex need 76 more runs, Yorkshire need four wickets. This one is going to be decided tonight either way.

  17. dropped catch

Rossington dropped on noughtpublished at 16:53 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Yorkshire 134 & 252, Essex 225 & 68-6

Wonder if this could be a turning point.

Adam Rossington could be gone for a five-ball duck but Fin Bean is unable to take a diving catch off a top edge at gully. Tough chance, but makeable.

  18. 50 runs

George Bartlett's half-century at Edgbastonpublished at 16:48 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Somerset 219 & 212-4

George Bartlett completes his second half-century of the season.

It is a more painstaking effort than usual, but a very important knock for his side.

He has now put on 54 for the fifth wicket with Lewis Goldsworthy - Somerset's third half-century partnership of the day.

Somerset already lead Warwickshire by 235.

20 overs to go in the day - light permitting. What will that lead look like by the end of the day?

  19. wicket

    WICKET - Cook c Kohler-Cadmore b Patterson 35published at 16:46 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Yorkshire 134 & 252, Essex 225 & 64-6

    Well this is getting silly.

The ill-judged batting decisions are contagious.

Sir Alastair Cook decides attack is the best form of defence after the flurry of wickets. He hits a boundary one ball but then flashes to Tom Kohler-Cadmore at slip.

Essex were 35-1 about half an hour ago, they're now 64-6.

  20. Career-best for Jake Libbypublished at 16:45 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Sussex 220, Worcestershire 357-3

Worcestershire are making up for lost time at Hove - and Jake Libby has gone past his career-best score of 184.

He is now on 187 out of the Pears' 357-3.

The visitors have just lost Jack Haynes for 31, but skipper Brett D'Oliveira has come in - and they still have this season's top run scorer Ed Barnard to come.

After two lost sessions today, time and light are the only thing that can seemingly stop Worcestershire now.
