  1. wicket

WICKET - Khushi lbw b Coad 0published at 16:42 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Yorkshire 134 & 252, Essex 225 & 60-5

Plumb. Feroze Khushi got away with one lbw decision but not this one. He's trapped right in front, in the middle of the stumps by Ben Coad.

Quite the match for Coad who has passed 200 career first-class wickets and notched a career-high 69 with the bat earlier today.

Essex 102 runs away from victory at 60-5 but running out of batsmen. Alastair Cook is at the crease, joined by Adam Rossington, but are Yorkshire arguably favourites now?

They definitely would have been if Rossington's first shot had carried to Jordan Thompson at point but it just falls short. Dicing with danger.

  2. Postpublished at 16:37 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Yorkshire 134 & 252, Essex 225 & 51-4

Steven Patterson is convinced he should have a third wicket in the over, as are his Yorkshire team-mates.

Feroze Khushi gets nothing but pad on the final ball of the over and there's a big lbw shout but the umpire is unmoved.

Then the next ball, Alastair Cook balloons up an outside edge off Ben Coad but it evades the slip fielders. Essex are not coping well at all here.

  3. wicket

    WICKET - Critchley c&b Patterson 0published at 16:33 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Yorkshire 134 & 252, Essex 225 & 51-4

Essex fans, look away. Yorkshire fans, look here.

Matt Critchley goes for a third-ball duck, chipping one back towards Steven Patterson and the veteran Yorkshire bowler takes a very good diving catch. He's got 4-21. Potentially match-winning figures.

We're in for a very exciting final couple of hours' play at Headingley.

  4. Career-best 12-wicket match haul for Matty Pottspublished at 16:30 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Leicestershire 202 & 142-7, Durham 296

England paceman Matty Potts has taken 12 wickets in a match for the first time.

Bowling with some real pace, he has beaten his previous career-best haul of 11-101 v Glamorgan in May, just before his first Test call.

He is now on 48 wickets for the County Championship campaign, not to mention his 20 Test scalps for England - his best year with the ball.

Having taken 6-52 in the first innings, he has now taken 6-42.

Leicestershire are on the brink at 142-7, leading Durham by only 48.

With still 34 overs left in the day this could be all over tonight.

  5. wicket

    WICKET - Lawrence b Patterson 13published at 16:30 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Yorkshire 134 & 252, Essex 225 & 51-3

Dan Lawrence attempts to hurry Essex along to their target of 162 with a four and a three in successive balls.

However, a couple of balls later he sees his stumps rearranged by Steven Patterson as the new-found attacking approach proves costly.

Essex need 111 more with seven wickets to spare - still favourites, you'd say, but Yorkshire are making this very interesting.

  6. wicket

    WICKET - Keogh c Clark b Steel 23published at 16:25 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Northants 339 & 114-4, Surrey 421

    Big wicket for Surrey.

Rob Keogh had swept away a couple of fours to quickly move to 23 off 27 balls.

But he goes to the well once too often after Surrey switched their field and Jordan Clark runs around to take a very good catch on the move.

Six wickets remain and the lead is only 32 - Surrey very much on top.

  7. Glamorgan three down against Middlesex at Lord'spublished at 16:24 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Glamorgan 214 & 135-3, Middlesex 390

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Glamorgan finally won a session against promotion rivals Middlesex as they wiped out 127 of the 176 deficit for the loss of Glamorgan captain David Lloyd, who punched 13 fours in a typically attacking innings before steering Ethan Bamber to gully on 70.

Eddie Byrom was dropped first ball at slip off Toby Roland-Jones and was close to being given lbw on 33 when he padded up to Ryan Higgins, but reached tea on 47.

There has been inconsistent bounce to encourage Middlesex and two wickets in four balls for Roland-Jones have changed things, after removing Byrom without adding tio his tea score and Sam Northeast for a duck.

Shubman Gill, who edged his second ball through slip, is still there but Glamorgan still trail by 41.

  8. 100 runs

100 up for Northantspublished at 16:20 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Northants 339 & 103-3, Surrey 421

Rob Keogh takes Northants into triple figures in style with a tidy cover drive for four off Dan Worrall.

The hosts' lead is up to 21.

  9. Postpublished at 16:18 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Yorkshire 134 & 252, Essex 225 & 39-2

When you want a batsman with patience to ease you to a lowly target, there can be few players most county fans would choose over Sir Alastair Cook.

He's plodded on to 21no off 58 balls, with Essex needing a further 123 runs now to seal a sixth Division One win of the summer.

  10. What can Bears do with new ball?published at 16:16 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Somerset 219 & 183-4, Warwickshire 196

    Mike Taylor
    BBC WM

Warwickshire will be looking to the new ball to limit the size of their task after another session of grinding progress from Somerset.

On a pitch which seems to be causing less difficulty. Tom Abell certainly appeared to be playing with some comfort on it for most of the afternoon, in his well-paced 87.

After careful reconnaissance, Abell gradually increased the scoring rate before lunch and then again afterwards, despite the loss of Tom Lammonby shortly after the break to a ball from Oliver Hannon-Dalby that climbed awkwardly.

He was playing the spinners with patient ease when Danny Briggs, at last finding a rhythm for the first time in the match, straightened a ball past his forward push to hit the off stump.

Jayant Yadav again bowled for more than half of the session but in 25 overs today he has not added to the wicket he took last night.

  11. Play finally underway at Hovepublished at 16:06 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Sussex 220, Worcestershire 298-2

We're finally underway at Hove - and Worcestershire opener Jake Libby is not hanging around.

He smacks two fours to go to his 150 - to move to within 34 of his career-best score.

  12. wicket

    WICKET - Westley c Revis b Patterson 9published at 16:05 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Yorkshire 134 & 252, Essex 225 & 35-2

    Hmm. Even less certain now.

We spoke of the caution from both batsmen but Tom Westley is punished for slicing one straight to Matt Revis at backward point. He goes for nine runs - a knock that took up 70 minutes and 57 balls.

Hope again for Yorkshire. It's been up and down, in and out for them all day.

It's 127 to win for Essex. Eight wickets to win for Yorkshire.

  13. Postpublished at 16:04 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Yorkshire 134 & 252, Essex 225 & 35-1

We thought Essex might complete a victory inside three days against Yorkshire - but at the slow rate they are going at, not so sure.

Just one run in the first few minutes after lunch - oh, hang on, scrap that, Alastair Cook pushes a loose one away for four.

Nonetheless, Cook and Westley are taking things very cautiously. This should end today but it's not certain.

  14. new ball

Bears take the new ballpublished at 16:00 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Somerset 219 & 176-4, Warwickshire 196

The new ball is available for Warwickshire straight after tea - and they take it.

    Oliver Hannon-Dalby has first go.

The relentlessly reliable OHD bowls another maiden - his ninth of the day - before Mohammed Siraj has a go with the new nut.

    Somerset already lead by 201.

  15. wicket

    WICKET - Cobb c Geddes b Steel 11published at 15:53 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Northants 339 & 72-3, Surrey 421

    Third ball after tea.

Not one Josh Cobb will want to see again as he chips Cameron Steel straight to midwicket where Ben Geddes takes a simple catch.

"That will give the visitors a big lift," says BBC Radio London commentator Mark Church. 100%.

Northants trail by 10 runs and have just seven wickets in hand. Major rebuild needed.

  16. Teatime scorespublished at 15:45 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Wantage Road: Northamptonshire 339 & 71-2, Surrey 421

    Edgbaston: Somerset 219 & 172-4, Warwickshire 196

    Leeds: Yorkshire 134 & 252, Essex 225 & 30-1

    Division Two

    Leicester: Leicestershire 202 & 129-5, Durham 296

    Lord's: Glamorgan 214 & 127-1, Middlesex 390

Hove: Sussex 220, Worcestershire 289-2 (80 overs - no play so far today)

  17. Tea at Headingleypublished at 15:39 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Yorkshire 134 & 252, Essex 225 & 30-1

With a possible four sessions remaining in the match, Essex need just 132 runs to beat Yorkshire with nine wickets still intact.

Ben Coad's admirable knock of 69 off 70 balls dragged Yorkshire back into it, having looked a lost cause at 158-7 before battling to reach 252 all out.

But the target still looks on the small side, even though opener Nick Browne fell early in the Essex reply. Alastair Cook (15no off 46 balls) and Tom Westley (8no off 44) are taking no chances whatsoever.

  18. Tea at Lord'spublished at 15:39 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Glamorgan 214 & 127-1, Middlesex 390

Great effort from Glamorgan openers David Lloyd and Eddie Byrom in the face of a daunting 176-run first-innings deficit.

They out on 123 for the first wicket until Lloyd holed out just before tea for 70.

India's Shubman Gill is the new man in.

  19. Tea at Leicesterpublished at 15:38 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Leicestershire 202 & 129-5, Durham 296

Exactly 100 runs and four wickets in the session at Leicester.

Leicestershire's Louis Kimber is on 47, but the end of his 64-run stand with Harry Swindells by Matty Potts just before tea could prove key.

Ten wickets in the match now for Durham's England paceman - the second time he has done that in this international breakthrough summer.

Kimber has now been joined by Tom Scriven.

  20. Tea at Wantage Roadpublished at 15:35 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Northants 339 & 71-2, Surrey 421

    Time for tea in Northamptonshire.

A session with something for both teams - Northants happy to have restricted Surrey to 421 (given they were 388-6 at one point) after Tom Curran's big-hitting innings ended just after lunch.

And the visitors pleased to remove both Northants openers as the hosts still trail by 11 runs with eight wickets remaining.
