  1. Lunch at Edgbastonpublished at 12:44 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Somerset 219 & 78-2, Warwickshire 196

A gripping morning session in Birmingham.

Only 65 runs in it. But no wickets, no extras and no ball change!

Tom Abell is on 40 and Tom Lammonby on 38. And Somerset lead by 101.

Even allowing for the delayed lunch, to make up for overs lost on the first two days, Warwickshire have sent down an above-average 36 overs.

  2. wicket

    WICKET - Atkinson b Keogh 0published at 12:42 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Northants 339, Surrey 388-8

    A second-ball duck.

Rob Keogh gets his second wicket in three balls as Gus Atkinson attempts to drive, nicks on to his own pad and the ball seems to rebound on to the stumps.

A bit unlucky but Northants will take it. A disappointing end to an otherwise excellent morning session for Surrey.

  3. Durham strike early in second inningspublished at 12:39 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Leicestershire 202 & 16-1, Durham 296

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Durham missed out on a third batting point by four runs as they were dismissed by Leicestershire for 296.

They lost five wickets for 57 runs with Nic Maddinson out on 56, his highest score for the county.

Michael Finan bowled well with the new ball, getting it to swing early. He got Tom Mackintosh LBW with a yorker when he was on 11, before Maddinson edged to second slip as the last four wickets went down for 24 runs,

England's Matty Potts then duly obliged with an early wicket - his seventh of the match - in his first over when he bowled debutant Sol Budinger, who made a first-innings half-century, for a sixth-ball duck.

  4. wicket

WICKET - Amla lbw v Keogh 133published at 12:38 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Northants 339, Surrey 388-7

The Curran-Amla partnership is broken at 144.

A wonderful innings from Hashim Amla ends as he's trapped in front after misjudging Rob Keogh's bit of turn.

  5. 100 runs

100 for Tom Curranpublished at 12:33 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Northants 339, Surrey 387-6

There's Tom Curran's first-ever first-class ton, accumulated in a single morning session, 100 minutes to be precise - and with still eight minutes to spare before lunch.

He hits Rob Keogh for six and then follows up with a four straight down the track a few balls later to reach the milestone in some style.

Curran brought that maiden century up in just 85 balls.

  6. wicket

    WICKET - Thompson c Lawrence b Critchley 2published at 12:31 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Yorkshire 134 & 158-7, Essex 225

Not the greatest shot from Jordan Thompson with Yorkshire very much up against it.

He tries to smash Matt Critchley to the ropes but just finds Dan Lawrence in the deep and Yorkshire are seven down with a lead of just 67.

  7. Postpublished at 12:28 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Northants 339, Surrey 372-6

You don't get many single-session centuries in the red-ball county game and Tom Curran seems on a mission to record one.

He's up to 13 boundaries and 92 runs in total. Around 10 minutes until lunch, a couple more fours will get Curran into triple figures.

  8. wicket

    WICKET - Fraine b Critchley 27published at 12:18 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Yorkshire 134 & 152-6, Essex 225

Could be victory inside three days for Essex the way it's going at Headingley.

Yorkshire needed a big innings from Will Fraine but he's gone for 27 as spinner Matt Critchley sneaks one through the gate to take out the off stump.

The Yorkshire lead is only 61 with just four wickets in hand. The tail simply has to wag for the White Rose.

  9. No play before lunch at Hovepublished at 12:14 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Sussex 220, Worcestershire 289-2

There will be no play in the morning session between Sussex and Worcestershire.

The rain continues to fall at Hove so an early lunch will be taken in the Division Two meeting.

  10. 100 runs

100 partnership for Surreypublished at 12:11 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Northants 339, Surrey 346-6

Tom Curran and Hashim Amla reach their century partnership with a lovely drive from the England man. Curran is on 71 and Amla 123. The century stand has come off just 120 balls.

Amazingly for a player of such quality, this is actually the highest score of Curran's career, surpassing a T20 knock of 62 in 2018.

Our BBC radio commentators are speculating he has a bit of added motivation for this match given Northants recently announced Tom's brother Ben would be among the players released by the club.

Surrey, meanwhile, have passed Northants' first-innings total and lead by seven. They will want a big total so they only have to bat once. It's possible given this pair have not once looked in trouble.

  11. wicket

DURHAM ALL OUT AT LEICESTERpublished at 12:08 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Leicestershire 202, Durham 296

Durham's innings comes to an end on 296 at Leicester.

That gives the Division Two promotion outsiders a 94-run lead.

Chris Wright and skipper Callum Parkinson claimed three scalps apiece for the Foxes.

  12. wicket

    WICKET - Tattersall c A Cook b Allison 10published at 12:03 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Yorkshire 134 & 150-5, Essex 225

A second catch at slip this morning for Sir Alastair Cook.

Ben Allison gets a delivery to bounce a bit higher off the pitch than Jonny Tattersall expected. Surprised, he top edges it to Cook for an easy grab.

Yorkshire's lead is only 59 with just five wickets remaining, with Essex firm favourites for victory at this stage.

  13. 50 runs

Somerset 50 uppublished at 11:59 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Somerset 219 & 50-2, Warwickshire 196

Somerset's 50 comes up, with Tom Lammonby on 30 and skipper Tom Abell on 20.

    Beautiful mathematical niceness. No extras!!!

And 18 overs bowled in the first hour too! What is happening to the game?

Somerset have added only 37 in 26 overs and OHD has sent down five maidens - but they now lead by 73. And every run counts in this one.

  14. Postpublished at 11:53 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

Worth pointing out this is Tom Curran's first Championship match in more than three years, having established himself as a white-ball specialist.

He's brought that kind of scoring rate to Surrey's innings but it's been a measured and chanceless knock at the same time.

  15. 50 runs

50 for Tom Curranpublished at 11:47 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Northants 339, Surrey 321-6

Surrey's batting line-up is so deep, it's one of the reasons they are favourites to lift the Division One title this season.

They were in a slight spot of bother at 244-6 earlier this morning but Tom Curran, in at number eight, has taken less than an hour to rack up a quickfire half-century off just 47 balls.

He drives Ben Sanderson away for four to bring up the 50 in style and take his partnership with Hashim Amla to 77.

Surrey are past the 300 mark, picking up a third batting point, maintaining their record of doing so in every Championship first innings this year. They are now just two points behind leaders Hampshire in the race for the title.

  16. Postpublished at 11:45 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Yorkshire 134 & 142-4, Essex 225

Jamie Porter has two wickets for Essex in this Yorkshire innings and he was very close to a third.

Jonny Tattersall gets an inside edge on a straight delivery and is relieved to see it squirm away for a single rather than on to his stumps.

  17. Middlesex lead moves into three figurespublished at 11:45 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Glamorgan 214, Middlesex 315-7

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Middlesex have pushed their lead over Glamorgan into three figures despite overnight pair John Simpson and Ryan Higgins failing to kick on this morning.

Simpson almost lofted James Harris to square leg on 75 but could not make the most of his fortunes when he was bowled one run later, trying to flick Michael Hogan through mid-wicket.

Higgins then fell for 40 in the next over attempting a similar shot off Harris and having his middle stump removed, giving the former Middlesex bowler his second four-wicket haul of the season against his former team-mates.

But Middlesex still have the upper hand against their promotion rivals, who face a long haul to save the match.

104 overs are scheduled today, light permitting, after long delays because of drizzle on day two. But no further rain is forecast.

  18. Somerset get scoreboard moving againpublished at 11:32 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Somerset 219 & 38-2, Warwickshire 196

After six straight maidens, Tom Abell turns OHD on the legside for a single - and that ends a sequence of 44 balls and 29 minutes without a run.

18 overs sent down in the first hour by Warwickshire at Edgbaston.

  19. Five maidens in a row in Birminghampublished at 11:26 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Somerset 219 & 38-2, Warwickshire 196

Warwickshire's bowlers now right on top here.

Five maidens in a row at Edgbaston.

Sounds like the title of a song.

Good stuff from OHD and Jayant Yadav.

  20. wicket

WICKET - Bean lbw b Porter 53published at 11:24 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Yorkshire 134 & 123-4, Essex 225

Fin Bean's maiden half-century innings ends on 53.

He's undone by a yorker right at his feet from Jamie Porter that the 20-year-old Yorkshireman just cannot dig out.

Routine lbw decision for the umpire.

Yorkshire's lead is 32 runs with six wickets remaining. They are going to need to add a few to that.
