    Yorkshire 134 & 244-9, Essex 225

A potentially game-changing innings from Ben Coad is ended by a wonderfully deceiving delivery from Matt Critchley.

Coad goes for a career best 69 as Critchley's spin evades his defences to topple the bails.

Yorkshire's lead is still only 153 with one wicket remaining but they have recovered well from 158-7 when things looked a bit hopeless.

  2. wicket

    Northants 339 & 15-1, Surrey 421

    Leicestershire 202 & 50-3, Durham 296

Two early afternoon wickets for Durham at Leicester as Matty Potts removes Hassan Azad before two balls later Ben Raine strikes to remove Rishi Patel.

The Foxes are on 50-3, still trailing Durham by 44.

In contrast, Glamorgan openers David Lloyd and Eddie Byrom have made a very positive start to their second innings against Middlesex at Lord's.

Having trailed by 176 on first innings, skipper Lloyd is on 23, having so far made five boundaries, with Byrom on 16.

    Yorkshire 134 & 238-8, Essex 225

The Revis-Coad partnership ends at 80.

A hugely important eighth-wicket stand that has got Yorkshire right back into this match.

Jamie Porter gets his third wicket of the match as he clean bowls Revis all ends up. Lovely delivery.

Yorkshire lead by 147 with two wickets in hand and Ben Coad unbeaten on 65. In the balance.

We had written Yorkshire off a bit earlier - prematurely it seems.

Ben Coad is leading the revival from 158-7 with his maiden half-century in 50 matches for the White Rose.

After passing 50, he marks the occasion with a big six a few balls later and is quickly up to 62 after a few more twos and singles. Off just 57 balls.

His partnership with Matt Revis - playing a watchful role, with 12no off 48 balls - is up to 75. Yorkshire lead by 142 and all of a sudden they have a chance here if they can nudge that figure toward, or even past, 200.

  9. wicket

SURREY ALL OUT FOR 421published at 13:41 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Northants 339, Surrey 421 (Worrall b Keogh 12)

The lead remains 82 as Dan Worrall's entertaining cameo ends on 12, bowled by Rob Keogh, who ends with useful figures of 4-51 for Northants.

Hashim Amla's patient 133 and Tom Curran's rapid 115 have ensured a decent first-innings advantage for title-chasing Surrey.

But Keogh's interventions have prevented them running away with this game and kept the hosts in with a chance. A big second innings for Northants coming up - and for leaders Hampshire, who will be hoping Surrey fail to win, of course.

for Surrey's Worrallpublished at 13:40 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Northants 339, Surrey 420-9

Tom Curran might be back in the pavilion but his approach remains, in the form of last man Dan Worrall, who has taken inspiration from his team-mate.

He pulls Lizaad Williams away for six to the shortest boundary at Wantage Road.

Surrey's lead is up to 82.

  11. wicket

    WICKET - Lammonby c Yates b Hannon-Dalby 40published at 13:34 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Somerset 219 & 86-3, Warwickshire 196

Early afternoon breakthrough for Warwickshire at Edgbaston as their leading wicket taker Oliver Hannon-Dalby strikes.

OHD gets one to lift, Tom Lammonby edges, Rob Yates hangs onto a sharp catch at slip- and the Bears hae their first wicket.

    It's OHD's 48th of the season.

George Bartlett comes in to join skipper Tom Abell.

  12. wicket

    WICKET - T Curran c Procter b Williams 115published at 13:25 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Northants 339, Surrey 400-9

Tom Curran's superb innings comes to an end.

After hitting Lizaad Williams' first three post-lunch deliveries all for four, Curran goes big on the fourth but doesn't connect fully and Luke Procter takes a brilliant diving catch, racing towards the boundary as the ball comes over his shoulder.

Excellent catch. Excellent innings. And Surrey now have the full five batting points.

  13. Postpublished at 13:24 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Yorkshire 134 & 184-7, Essex 225

Ben Coad picked up his 200th first-class wicket with the ball yesterday and now he is trying to give Yorkshire a glimmer of hope with the bat at Headingley.

He's unbeaten on 22 off 23 balls, making him their fourth highest scorer of this innings, thanks to a couple of early boundaries in the afternoon session.

  14. Play resumespublished at 13:21 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

We're just getting back under way across the country.

It's been an eventful and entertaining morning - what will the afternoon bring?

  15. Valuable morning's work from The Two Tomspublished at 13:02 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Somerset 219 & 78-2, Warwickshire 196

    Mike Taylor
    BBC Radio WM at Edgbaston

The value of the spadework put in this morning by Tom Lammonby and Tom Abell may only be fully realised this afternoon, but their efforts in the first two hours will have softened the ball and may have worn down the Warwickshire bowlers not only in body but in mind.

Both teams must surely be aware that this day could be of capital importance in whether they are relegated this season or not and, to that end, Lammonby and Abell set themselves to bat for as long as possible.

At one stage that required them to drop anchor entirely, as six overs passed without a run.

Lammonby examined Jayant Yadav’s off-breaks with the eye of a customs officer, trying to spot the smuggled arm-ball, and playing at as few deliveries as possible.

Oliver Hannon-Dalby gave the batters no room in a typically accurate spell, but, as lunch approached, Abell raised the siege, and lifted the lead past 100.

Warwickshire’s need for wickets is growing more urgent and, if Somerset are still batting at the end of today, the champions may find themselves in a difficult position not only in this match but the Division One table too.

  16. Lunch scorespublished at 12:58 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Division One

Wantage Road: Northamptonshire 339, Surrey 388-8 (98.3 overs)

    Edgbaston: Somerset 219 & 78-2, Warwickshire 196

    Leeds: Yorkshire 134 & 179-7, Essex 225

    Division Two

    Leicester: Leicestershire 202 & 29-1, Durham 296

    Lord's: Glamorgan 214, Middlesex 390

Hove: Sussex 220, Worcestershire 289-2 (80 overs - no play before lunch)

  17. Lunch at Leicesterpublished at 12:49 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Leicestershire 202 & 29-1, Durham 296

A delayed lunch is also taken at Leicester, where the hosts are on 29-1, now trailing promotion outsiders Durham by 65 runs with nine wickets remaining.

  18. Lunch at Headingleypublished at 12:49 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Yorkshire 134 & 179-7, Essex 225

It's been Essex's session without question at Headingley.

Having begun the day on 87-2, Yorkshire have lost five wickets for the addition of only 92 more runs.

Fin Bean has recorded his first half-century in only his second Championship appearance but that has been the only real positive for the White Rose.

They lead by 88 with just three wickets remaining and will need a big effort from the tail to prevent Essex having a very small target to chase for victory.

  19. MIDDLESEX ALL OUT AT LORD'Spublished at 12:47 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Glamorgan 214, Middlesex 390

Middlesex's innings comes to an end as they are finally bowled out for 390 by Glamorgan on the stroke of lunch at Lord's.

The hosts lead by 176 runs in this meeting of fourth against second in Division Two.

Glamorgan now have a real job on.

  20. Lunch at Wantage Roadpublished at 12:45 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Northants 339, Surrey 388-8

That dismissal of Gus Atkinson brings up the lunch break at Wantage Road.

Hashim Amla's 133 and Tom Curran's unbeaten 103 have ensured a healthy first-innings lead for Surrey.

But their hopes of only needing to bat once to win this match have been hit by Rob Keogh's double strike right before the interval.
