  1. Tea at Edgbastonpublished at 15:34 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Somerset 219 & 172-4, Warwickshire 196

Somerset now lead Warwickshire by 195 as they go to tea in Birmingham.

George Bartlett is on 34 and Lewis Goldsworthy on 6.

"A strong position but not an impregnable one," says BBC Radio Somerset's Anthony Gibson.

  2. Postpublished at 15:31 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Yorkshire 134 & 252, Essex 225 & 30-1

Loud shout from Jordan Thompson and his team-mates for lbw against Tom Westley.

It was on target but sounded, from the mikes at least, that Westley got a nick on it on to the pad.

Essex need 132 more to win, with nine wickets in hand.

  3. Postpublished at 15:29 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Northants 339 & 71-2 v Surrey 421

Northants doing their best to frustrate title hopefuls Surrey at Wantage Road.

Luke Procter unbeaten on 22 off 66 balls, Josh Cobb 11no off 18, the duo attempting to rebuild after the departure of both openers.

Surrey adjusting their field mid-over as they look for the important third wicket before tea.

  4. Further inspection at Hovepublished at 15:19 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Sussex 220, Worcestershire 289-2 (80 overs)

They're now going to look again at 3.30 at Hove.

    Very frustrating for Worcestershire.

    WICKET - Abell b Briggs 87published at 15:12 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Somerset 219 & 158-4, Warwickshire 196

A second breakthrough of the day for Warwickshire as Danny Briggs gets one to turn and Somerset skipper Tom Abell is bowled - just 13 short of a ton.

  6. Postpublished at 15:12 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Yorkshire 134 & 252, Essex 225 & 22-1

Proper, old-school red-ball batting here from Alastair Cook and Tom Westley, who know they have all the time in the world to reach the winning target of 162.

After the early departure of Nick Browne for just three, Cook is unbeaten on 12 off 28 balls, Westley 4no off 25 deliveries, with just the one boundary between them.

No risks taken, and none needed. Essex need 139 more to win.

  7. Durham will have to bat againpublished at 15:08 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Leicestershire 202 & 109-4, Durham 296

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Leicestershire have made sure Durham will have to bat again but they have lost four wickets in the process of wiping out their deficit of 94 runs.

After Matty Potts' three wicket, Louis Kimber (37) and Harry Swindells (15) have stopped the rot with a partnership so far of 55.

There are 49 overs left today at Grace Road and at the moment we have a lovely warm and sunny afternoon. Good batting conditions.

  8. 100 runs

Century stand for Lloyd and Byrompublished at 15:03 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Glamorgan 214 & 100-0, Middlesex 390

Great response by Glamorgan at Lord's.

Openers David Lloyd and Eddie Byrom began this innings with their side 176 adrift of Middlesex.

But Glammy skipper Lloyd has made a timely return to form. He is on 61, having struck 11 fours, while Byrom is on 35.

  9. 50 runs

Helf-century stand for Abell and Bartlettpublished at 14:59 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Somerset 219 & 139-3, Warwickshire 196

Somerset's second helf-century stand of the day.

After the 79-run stand shared earlier by Tom Abell with Tom Lammonby, the Somerset skipper has now put on a further 59 with George Bartlett.

Somerset now lead the Bears by 168 - and still have seven wickets in hand.

Is this game starting to slip away from Warwickshire?

    WICKET - Gay 26 lbw b Clark 26published at 14:58 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Northants 339 & 47-2, Surrey 421

Emilio Gay survived a couple of close shaves but his luck runs out.

It's a bit of a 50-50 call from umpire Peter Hartley, one that would certainly have been reviewed if those means were available.

He tries to swipe away Jordan Clark down leg but misses and the ball strikes him on the pad. It was going close to leg stump and Hartley decides it would have hit.

  11. 50 runs

Half-century for David Lloydpublished at 14:52 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Glamorgan 214 & 87-0, Middlesex 390

Glamorgan skipper David Lloyd has ended a poor run of form by completing his fourth half-century of the season - his first since the Notts game in July.

Eddie Byrom also going well on 33.

  12. 6 runs

First six of the day at Edgbastonpublished at 14:46 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Somerset 219 & 130-3, Warwickshire 196

George Bartlett hits the first six of the day at Edgbaston as he comes down the wicket and lifts Jayant Yadav into the old Pressbox Stand.

The India Test spinner had only shipped 32 runs off 19 overs before that.

Retrieving the ball did not prove too easy though.

The box of replacement balls has come out - and indications are that they are now using one of them. Although, as there is no actual umpiring signal to that effect, it is not entirely clear.

The one thing that is for certain is that it was by far the most attacking shot disciplined Somerset have played today.

  13. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 14:42 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Northants 339 & 39-1 v Surrey 421

That should have been Emilio Gay walking back to the clubhouse.

He edges Kemar Roach to second slip but Ryan Patel fumbles it and cannot grab it at the second attempt either.

    Let-off for Northants.

    WICKET - Browne c Fraine b Thompson 3published at 14:37 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Yorkshire 134 & 252, Essex 225 & 3-1

Will Fraine catches Nick Browne.Image source, Rex Features

Well, that's not in the Essex script.

Nick Browne gets a thick edge off Jordan Thompson straight to Will Fraine at third slip.

That 162 target looks slightly larger than it did a few minutes ago as skipper Tom Westley joins Alastair Cook at the crease.

  15. Postpublished at 14:35 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Yorkshire 134 & 252, Essex 225 & 1-0

The Essex reply is under way.

Absolutely no rush, of course - they have a day and a half, weather permitting, to attain the 162 runs needed for victory.

Nick Browne gets them on their way with a solitary single from the opening over.

Inspection at Hove at 3.00published at 14:33 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Sussex 220, Worcestershire 289-2 (80 overs)

    Better news from Hove.

Umpires Nigel Llong and Muhammad Syed will make an inspection at 3, which presumably means that the rain has now stopped at least.

  17. Postpublished at 14:29 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Northants 339 & 29-1, Surrey 421

Big roar from Kemar Roach as he raps Northants opener Emilio Gay on the side of the knee.

But it was probably just going down the leg side. Close, though, and worth the shout.

The blow sends Gay down on his haunches for a few seconds but he's OK.

  18. wicket

    WICKET - Ackermann b Potts 12published at 14:25 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Leicestershire 202 & 66-4, Durham 296

A fourth wicket for Durham - and a ninth in the match for England paceman Matty Potts, who took 6-52 in the Foxes first innings.

After bowling opener Sol Budinger for a sixth-ball duck and getting Hassan Azad caught at short leg, Colin Ackermann is the latest to go for Leicestershire, who still trail Durham by 28 runs with only six wickets remaining.

Potts is just one scalp short of the second 10-wicket match haul of his career, having taken 11-101 against Glamorgan in May, in the game prior to his first Test call.

ESSEX NEED 162 TO WINpublished at 14:22 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Yorkshire 134 & 252, Essex 225 (Yorkshire lead by 161)

Steven Patterson is unimpressed with the decision, standing still at his crease for a few moments after being adjudged to have feathered Jamie Porter to Essex wicketkeeper Adam Rossington.

But there's no changing the umpire's mind, of course. Patterson goes for nine and Yorkshire are all out for 252.

Fin Bean's 53 and Ben Coad's quickfire 69 have given the White Rose some hope but Essex, for whom Porter took 4-64, need just 162 to wrap up victory.

  20. Postpublished at 14:16 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Glamorgan 214 & 46-0, Middlesex 390

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Middlesex piled up a substantial first-innings lead of 176 against Glamorgan to take seven bonus points, to four for their promotion rivals.

All-rounder Luke Hollman, batting at eight, made the main contribution with 58, doing his best to shepherd the tailenders as he played intelligently after the early loss of John Simpson (76) and Ryan Higgins (40).

Glamorgan's James Harris claimed his first five-wicket haul since 2018 against his former team-mates, while Kiwi spinner Ajaz Patel bowled tightly, taking the ninth wicket to claim maximum bowling points with just two balls to spare of the 110 overs.

Starting after lunch with a mountain to climb, out-of-form Glamorgan captain David Lloyd punched a couple of early boundaries on the short Mound Stand side of the ground to get himself off to a start, while Eddie Byrom was dropped first ball at slip off Toby Roland-Jones.

Fourth-placed Middlesex remain favourites to move ahead in the promotion race. Second-placed Glamorgan probably have to survive four sessions to salvage a draw.
