Derbys 57-0 v Leics 249
Three overs before the scheduled the close, the light looms over the Racecourse Ground.
Leicestershire can't avoid the wooden spoon this season but they can at least avoid a winless campaign this week.
But it's not a great day for them.
Sent in, five players made it to 20 but there was only one half-century and one batting point.
The hosts have navigated safely through 16 overs to reach the close in good shape.
Northants v Essex 220-8
Essex have rallied late in the day to close in an okay position at Northants.
Tom Westley and Ben Allison's unbroken stand of 68 has taken the visitors from 152-8 past 200.
Derbys 50-0 v Leics 249
Still going at, er, sunny Derby!
And certainly sunny for the home side with a strong opening stand after bowling Leicestershire out for 249 earlier today with Sam Conners taking 5-51.
Worcs 167-8 v Middx
An excellent day for Middlesex.
They won the toss, shoved Worcestershire in and have chipped away throughout the day.
The wickets all shared around as the visitors' attack allowed no partnerships of note.
Worcestershire were in trouble last week before recovering remarkably but to even reach 200 from here would be a good effort.
Middlesex have a chance to take control of the game tomorrow but expect Worcestershire's seamers to have their say too.
Northants v Essex 200-8
Tom Westley goes to fifty as Essex bring up their 200.
His stand with number 10 Ben Allison is now worth 48. Frustrating times for Northants after they had Essex 152-8.
Yorkshire 80-3 v Gloucestershire 190
New batter Jonny Tattersall comes out, but he will not face a ball as the players come off for bad light.
How frustrated will Adam Lyth be now?
Warwickshire 138-2 v Hampshire
Only 41 overs possible in Birmingham for Warwickshire's must-win match.
But thanks to a season's best of 77 not out from Rob Yates, they have done well in the time available.
Northants v Essex 187-8
This is a really handy ninth-wicket partnership between Tom Westley and Ben Allison.
The Essex pair have put on 35 with Westley approaching his half-century.
Northants will want to wrap this first innings up before stumps - nine overs remain.
Yorkshire 80-3 v Gloucestershire 190
Adam Lyth is squared up by Tom Price and the ball flies to third slip.
Lyth had batted well but he can't quite make it to the close, so he will be a frustrated man at dinner tonight.
Kent v Somerset 195-9
Nathan Gilchrist will have his hat-trick attempt with the first ball tomorrow as stumps are called.
Yorkshire 78-2 v Gloucestershire 190
The spin of Zafar Gohar has increased the intent from the Yorkshire batters.
Tom Kohler-Cadmore struck him for six in his previous over and now gets four more at the start of the over and one at the end.
23 runs off Gohar's two overs and the deficit down to 112.
Lancashire 414-5 v Surrey
It is Lancashire and Keaton Jennings' day at Old Trafford.
Jennings ends on a brilliant 190 not out and he has accelerated as the day has gone on.
He and George Balderson have added 110 for this sixth wicket at close to a run-a-ball.
Champions Surrey have been a little off it and punished heavily.
Lancashire 403-5 v Surrey
George Balderson takes three off Cameron Steel to bring up a very breezy half century, his first of the summer in red-ball cricket.
Next ball, Keaton Jennings bashes another four and that brings up the 400 to achieve maximum batting points for Lancashire with 16 overs to spare.
Notts 276-2 v Durham
No improvement in the light at Trent Bridge either so we chalk off the final 11 overs.
But a wonderful day for Notts.
Needing a maximum of seven points to confirm their promotion, they won the toss on a pitch ordered to negate Durham's fine seam attack and have taken full advantage.
Haseeb Hameed made his fourth century of an excellent summer, eventually falling for 115.
Matt Montgomery followed with a maiden first-class ton and will resume tomorrow 101 not out.
Two points already in the bag for Notts and at least two more are definitely achievable.
And regardless of bonus points, a total that takes defeat out of the equation is certainly there for the taking and a draw is pretty much good enough for them to claim the title.
Sussex v Glam 221-3
The light isn't getting any better at Hove so that's it for day one.
Very frustrating for Glamorgan to only have 41 overs - but they have made tremendous progress having scored at 5.3 an over after winning the toss.
David Lloyd got them off to a great start with a brisk 56.
And Shubman Gill, the India Test batsman, has strolled to 91.
The visitors in an excellent position but will hope for better weather on the morrow.
Warwickshire 138-2 v Hampshire
The players are coming off at Edgbaston where the light has deteriorated.
Rob Yates has 77 and is doing his best to get Warwickshire the first innings total they want.
Yorkshire 45-2 v Gloucestershire 190
Yorkshire opener Adam Lyth will know the importance of getting to the close tonight.
He's on 28 off 74 balls as his side inches towards that Gloucestershire total.
If they come back tomorrow with eight wickets in hand, Yorkshire will hope for a sizeable first innings lead.
Worcs 167-8 v Middx
Middlesex may not get the chance to finish Worcestershire off tonight.
Kent v Somerset 195-9
Nathan Gilchrist must wait for his hat-trick ball as rain starts to fall at Canterbury.
