  1. A first hundred for Montgomery

    Matthew Montgomery is playing in his eighth first-class match and has notched his first hundred today, becoming the second centurion of the innings for Notts.

    The 22-year-old, who was born in South Africa, is playing in his fourth Championship match for the club. Earlier he put on a partnership of 180 for the second wicket with Haseeb Hameed, who made 115.

    Now he has reached three figures too. Getting there in 198 balls and with 14x4s.

    The hosts, who won the toss, are 272-2 and have picked up two batting points so far to help cement their place at the top of the Division Two table.

    Durham will have the new ball available in a couple of overs.

  2. Yorkshire 13-0 v Gloucestershire 190

    The lights are on at Headingley and the skies are becoming darker.

    Not easy for batting for openers Adam Lyth and James Wharton, but they have seen off eight overs.

    Wharton in just his third Championship game of 2022 is yet to score off 20 deliveries.

    Lancashire captain Dane Vilas does not last long.

    He tries to sweep Cameron Steel and succeeds only in top edging a dolly to Ryan Patel at short fine leg.

    Worcs 119-6 v Middx

    Fred Trueman used to call cricket the greatest leveller there is and here is cast iron proof.

    Gareth Roderick was on cloud nine last week with a hundred to save his side and important catches to set up victory against the best side in the division, Notts.

    But a few days on and he collects a five-ball duck.

    He falls into a trap too as he whips a full ball from Tim Murtagh straight into the hands of short square-leg.

    Notts 264-2 v Durham

    A maiden first-class hundred for the 22-year-old South African.

    The talented youngster has taken advantage of the benign conditions at Trent Bridge to raise a maiden ton in his eighth match.

    198 balls and 14 fours.

    Lancashire 291-3 v Surrey

    No third century of the season for Steven Croft.

    He tries to sweep the leg spin of Cameron Steel but gets in a tangle and is trapped plumb in front.

    There ends a third wicket stand of 195 with Keaton Jennings.

    Warwickshire 95-0 v Hampshire

    Rob Yates sees off a maiden from Keith Barker to end an excellent session for Warwickshire.

    They require plenty more this week, but they have started in the right manner.

    Worcestershire, as they were last week, now in big trouble against Middlesex.

    It's a third wicket for Toby Roland-Jones.

    A fullish ball that just moves away a fraction, Ed Barnard drives lustily and edges to first slip.

    Easy catch for Stevie Eskinazi to his right hip.

    up for Glamorgan

    Sussex v Glam 204-3

    Glamorgan's first point notched up and they're in great shape for more.

    41 overs scheduled at Hove but unlikely we'll get those in with the light.

    for Rob Yates

    Warwickshire 89-0 v Hampshire

    Rob Yates whips Keith Barker away through midwicket for four to bring up an excellent half century.

    A tenth handsome boundary, this knock has taken 90 balls.

    Only a second of the summer but just when his team desperately needed a score.

    up for Notts

    Notts 251-2 v Duham

    Joe Clarke has joined Matt Montgomery and the pair take the hosts to their second batting point.

    Maximum points very much in range at this healthy rate of 3.5 an over.

    They only need seven points in total to guarantee promotion.

  12. 'Gill looked classy'

    Sussex v Glamorgan 194-3

    India’s Shubman Gill has picked up the pace for Glamorgan as they scored at six runs an over between the showers.

    Gill looked classy as he raced to 76 not out, finding gaps in the field at will.

    Earlier David Lloyd raced to 56 off 64 balls against a struggling Sussex seam attack as the visitors went all out for bonus points, only Brad Currie looking consistently dangerous.

    The players re-emerged with 43 overs theoretically to bowl if the weather and light hold up.

  13. Northants v Essex 112-4

    Play has resumed at Northants after a hefty rain delay.

    Tom Westley and Feroze Khushi are the batters in the middle for Essex.

  14. Warwickshire 81-0 v Hampshire

    Lots of good intent here from Rob Yates and Dom Sibley.

    No wickets lost and scoring at a good rate at almost 3.5 an over. Just what the Bears want as they take seven off a Keith Barker over.

  15. Tea at Canterbury

    Kent v Somerset 130-6

    Craig Overton has struck a couple of powerful blows, but Kent will go to their cup of tea happy with how things have gone so far.

    Worcs 113-4 v Middx

    Middlesex right on top having won the toss.

    Ed Barnard and Brett D'Oliveira were both set on 23 and 25 respectively as they took tea.

    Two wickets for Toby Roland-Jones earlier in the day.

    Sussex v Glam 194-3

    Sussex may have managed to chip out a couple this afternoon but the scoring rate remains so high.

    Glamorgan barrelling along at 5.5 an over.

    Shubman Gill goes to the break 76 not out from 88 balls.

    David Lloyd with 56 earlier in the day.

    for Lewis Goldsworthy

    Kent v Somerset 121-6

    The rest of the Somerset card has been a bit of a sorry tale, but Lewis Goldsworthy is playing a lone hand.

    He brings up his half century in 97 balls with a lovely cover drive off Nathan Gilchrist. That is the eighth four in his third fifty of the season.

    Matt Potts makes the breakthrough!

    Haseeb Hameed's fine innings comes to an end.

    Potts goes a fraction wider on the bowling crease and gets one to straight just enough to find a thick edge that is really well held down low by Scott Borthwick at second slip.
