    Worcs 39-3 v Middx

First point of the round for the promotion contenders goes to Middlesex.

Jack Haynes pokes at an ordinary length ball a foot outside off from Toby Roland-Jones and steers it into the hands of second slip.

Solid catch down low from Sam Robson.

for Haseeb Hameedpublished at 13:18 British Summer Time 26 September 2022

    Notts 101-1 v Durham

Haseeb Hameed was 44 at lunch and hasn't taken much time in going past fifty for the 11th time this season.

89 balls and nine fours - the latest of them driven very smartly past cover off left-arm spinner Liam Trevaskis.

It's been a very productive summer for the opener as he looks to get back into the England side, averaging 55.

  3. County caps for skipper and England bowlerpublished at 13:15 British Summer Time 26 September 2022

    Yorkshire v Gloucestershire 90-4

Ben Coad opens the afternoon session with a maiden to Gloucestershire captain Graeme van Buuren.

Matt Fisher was the star this morning with his four wickets on the day he was awarded his county cap, along with Jonny Tattersall.

It feels strange that a player with an England cap and the captain of the side had not received their Yorkshire caps before now.

    Kent v Somerset 33-3

George Bartlett and Lewis Goldworthy have a rebuilding job on their hands for Somerset after the loss of those three quick wickets.

    Their partnership is worth 24.

  11. England duo working on fitnesspublished at 12:52 British Summer Time 26 September 2022

    Lancashire 103-2 v Surrey

Saqib Mahmood and Liam Livingstone have been working on their fitness during the lunch break at Old Trafford.

Mahmood has not played since April due to a back problem and the 25-year-old has been doing some light bowling practise on a different wicket on the square.

Livingstone was undergoing some stretching work as he picks up his recovery from an ankle injury.

That kept him out of the T20 matches in Pakistan, but he has been named in the squad for the T20 World Cup in Australia next month.

  12. Lunch at Northantspublished at 12:50 British Summer Time 26 September 2022

    Northants v Essex 107-4

A good fightback by Northants' bowlers in that session saw them reduce Essex from 76-0 to 96-4.

A bit of a rebuilding job needed by Essex after lunch.

  13. 'Notts going along nicely'published at 12:38 British Summer Time 26 September 2022

    Notts 94-1 v Durham

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Notts chose to bat on day one at Trent Bridge, on what looks like a good track. They had 49 runs on the board before Ben Slater was caught behind on 23 off the bowling of Ben Raine. He'd been earlier dropped in the slips on 18 off Ollie Gibson's bowling.

But as we reach lunch they are going along nicely with Haseeb Hameed on 44 and Matthew Montgomery on 20.

The lights are on. We have had dark skies, drizzle and bright sunshine but the players have stayed on the field throughout.

Durham lost the services of fast bowler Paul Coughlin in the run up to the start of play. He was out there warming up and due to feature against his former club but was then replaced by George Drissell.

The official word is he has left the ground for personal reasons. We wish him well.

  14. Lunch at Hovepublished at 12:35 British Summer Time 26 September 2022

    Sussex v Glam 66-1

Lunch at Hove after only an hour - the start was delayed due to rain.

David Lloyd has given his side an excellent start, getting to 40 in 43 balls.

Eddie Byrom, for 21, Sussex's only success.

    Lancashire 103-2 v Surrey

Keaton Jennings goes to lunch 40 not out with Steven Croft the new batter alongside him.

  16. Lunch at Headingleypublished at 12:33 British Summer Time 26 September 2022

    Yorkshire v Gloucestershire 90-4

A recovery of sorts for Gloucestershire from James Bracey and captain Graeme van Buuren.

They have added 43 after Matt Fisher's four-wicket burst earlier in the session.

  17. Lunch at Trent Bridgepublished at 12:33 British Summer Time 26 September 2022

    Notts 94-1 v Durham

Notts won the toss and chose to bat on the flattest pitch their groundstaff could provide.

Ben Slater the only wicket to fall in an excellent morning for the Division Two champions-elect.

Haseeb Hameed has impressed with eight fours and takes lunch 44 not out.

Matt Montgomery alongside him on 20.

WICKET Umeed lbw b Quinn 4published at 12:29 British Summer Time 26 September 2022

    Kent v Somerset 9-3

A penny for Tom Abell's thoughts now!

Andy Umeed offers no stroke to a ball from Matt Quinn that nips back off the seam and there are no doubts about that howzat cry.

A bowling point for Kent in just the seventh over of the innings.

  19. wicket

WICKET Abell c Leaning b Gilchrist 5published at 12:27 British Summer Time 26 September 2022

    Kent v Somerset 9-2

Somerset captain Tom Abell is on his way.

He is drawn into an edge by Nathan Gilchrist and Jack Leaning has his second catch at second slip.

Abell may be questioning his own call to bat first at Canterbury.

  20. Umeed returns to Championship cricketpublished at 12:24 British Summer Time 26 September 2022

    Kent v Somerset 5-1

A nice tale as Andy Umeed returns to Championship cricket for his first game since 2017.

Released by Warwickshire, the 26-year-old was playing club cricket until Somerset gave him a chance in their Second XI earlier in the summer before he was handed a first-team deal in July.
