George Hill (Yorks)Image source, Rex Features

Two for the Price of one?

George Hill has dismissed both Ollie and Tom now, with the latter leg before to leave Gloucestershire nine down.

The lead is 234, with last man Ajeet Singh-Dale out in the middle.

  2. wicket

WICKET Holland c Davies b Rhodes 17published at 11:30 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Warwicks 272-4 dec v Hants 36-2

Blinding catch by Alex Davies, leaping away to his left!

The Warwickshire keeper is at full stretch to dismiss Ian Holland, who gets an inside edge to one that nipped back from Will Rhodes.

Hopes raised for the Bears, with both Hampshire openers gone...

  3. wicket

    WICKET O Price b Hill 68published at 11:23 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Yorks 183 v Glos 190 & 226-8

George Hill comes on for his first bowl of the morning - and it takes him only two deliveries to pick up the eighth Gloucestershire wicket.

Hill pierces the defences of Ollie Price, who departs for a career-best 68 as his stumps are splayed.

David Payne comes to the wicket with the visitors leading by 233.

  4. Postpublished at 11:18 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Warwicks 272-4 dec v Hants 32-1

No further success as yet for Warwickshire, but it hasn't been for a lack of trying.

Oliver Hannon-Dalby has beaten the outside edge several times in this opening spell, but without reward.

Joe Weatherley is yet to get off the mark for Hampshire, having faced 19 balls, while Ian Holland has 13.

  5. wicket

WICKET Drissell c Mullaney b Paterson 16published at 11:10 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Notts 662-9d v Durham 80-4

    Dane PatersonImage source, Rex Features

A second wicket of the day for Notts and another giveaway from Durham.

Nightwatchman George Drissell flicks leg side and taps up a catch straight to the waiting Notts captain Steven Mullaney at short mid-wicket.

Durham are effectively five down because David Bedingham will not bat after injuring his left shoulder in the field yesterday.

Notts only need another five wickets to secure promotion.

  6. 50 runs

for Tom Hainespublished at 11:09 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Sussex 116-2 v Glam 533-9d

The Sussex skipper gets to a 62-ball fifty with 10 fours.

It hasn't been as eye-catching a summer for Tom Haines as last season but he's got a chance here to play a defining innings for his side.

  7. wicket

WICKET Gohar lbw b Patterson 11published at 11:00 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Yorks 183 v Glos 190 & 217-7

Steven Patterson (Yorks)Image source, Rex Features

It's the ever-reliable Steven Patterson, playing his last game for Yorkshire, who makes the breakthrough.

Zafar Gohar departs leg before and Tom Price strides out to join his brother Ollie, with Gloucestershire leading by 224.

  8. wicket

WICKET Borthwick c Hameed b Fletcher 27published at 10:59 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Notts 662-9d v Durham 74-3

Big Luke Fletcher gets the breakthrough!

Not exactly a tremendous piece of bowling but he and Notts will take it.

Scott Borthwick crashes a wide delivery straight into the gully where Haseeb Hameed clings on well.

Another point in the bag for Notts.

  9. wicket

WICKET Organ c Sibley b Norwell 8published at 10:57 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Warwicks 272-4 dec v Hants 23-1

OK, Dom Sibley has made amends now!

This time Liam Norwell induces the edge from Felix Organ and Sibley makes no mistake at first slip, diving away to take an arguably harder chance than the one he shelled earlier.

Joe Weatherley comes to the crease for Hampshire.

  10. Postpublished at 10:52 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Yorks 183 v Glos 190 & 216-6

Yorkshire will be pleased by the Bears' failure to take a wicket so far this morning - because they haven't looked liked doing so themselves at Headingley.

Gloucestershire's Ollie Price has advanced to his highest first-class score - 63 not out so far, with Zafar Gohar alongside him on 11 and the visitors now lead by 223.

  11. Godleman goespublished at 10:52 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Derbyshire 369-3 v Leicestershire 249

Derbyshire skipper Billy Godleman was unable to add to his overnight score of 158 as he edged Roman Walker to slip.

The hosts are still in complete control though, with a lead of 120 and seven wickets still in hand.

  12. dropped catch

Dropped catch at Edgbastonpublished at 10:42 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Warwicks 272-4 dec v Hants 6-0

Warwickshire need wickets - they cannot afford to drop catches.

Yet that's what Dom Sibley has just done, spilling what looked a regulation edge off Ian Holland's bat at first slip.

Liam Norwell is the unlucky bowler - and how costly could that drop be for the Bears?

  13. wicket

WICKET Holden c Roderick b Tongue 44published at 10:41 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Worcs 225 v Middx 155-3

And the start to day three gets better for Glamorgan as Middlesex lose an early one.

Max Holden follows one from Josh Tongue pushed across the left-hander and he gets a healthy touch to the wicketkeeper.

  14. wicket

WICKET Alsop c Cooke b Hogan 4published at 10:39 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Sussex 94-2 v Glam 533-9d

Superb start to the day for Glamorgan as Michael Hogan gets one to hold its line just enough from round the wicket.

The left-handed Tom Alsop was trying to defend but got a feather-edge behind.

  17. Notts in command, Middlesex solidpublished at 10:27 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Division Two

Nottinghamshire shrugged off their hiccup at Worcester last week and are steaming towards the Division Two title.

The small matter of 662-5 declared has effectively ensured a minimum of 12 points from their game with Durham - more than enough to seal promotion.

If they can add at least a couple of bowling points today, the title will almost certainly be theirs as well, even if they can't force victory.

Durham resume 53-2 at Trent Bridge.

Middlesex were frustrated by the weather yesterday at New Road but will come back 146-2 in reply to Worcestershire's 225, so a great chance to take control in a game they need to win to ensure promotion.

Glamorgan will hope Middlesex slip up.

The Welsh county have given themselves every chance of claiming second place by taking maximum batting points against Sussex at Hove.

The home side begin day three 88-1 in response to 533-9d.

And at the Racecourse Ground, Derbyshire will pick up 356-2 after Leicestershire were bowled out for 249.

  18. Yorkshire face tough chasepublished at 10:25 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Yorkshire 183 v Gloucestershire 190 & 204-6

Gloucestershire go into day three at Headingley with a lead of 211 and still four wickets in hand.

If Yorkshire fail to chase whatever is eventually set by the visitors, they'll go down if Warwickshire win.

A victory or draw for Yorkshire is enough to keep them up.

  19. Bears must winpublished at 10:21 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Warwickshire 272-4 dec v Hampshire 4-0

Events at Headingley and Canterbury yesterday left Warwickshire knowing only a win would keep them up.

After numerous rain delays at Edgbaston they decided to declare on 272-4 but another shower denied the Bears a chance of late Hampshire wickets.

20 wickets in two days is a tough ask, but thankfully for Warwickshire fans the weather is looking better in Birmingham.

  20. Kent secure survivalpublished at 10:18 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Kent 405-7 v Somerset 202

Kent sealed their place in Division One on Tuesday after they earned maximum bonus points and Warwickshire then declared in their rain-affected game at Edgbaston, leaving some points on the table.

That left a straight shootout between the Bears and Yorkshire for survival.
