    Warwickshire v Hampshire 124-8 (Target 139)

The new ball works first delivery!!!

Nick Gubbins is hit on the pads by Liam Norwell and the umpire's finger goes up very slowly. Great sense of theatre there, umps!

Seven wickets for the Dorset destroyer Norwell!

Debatable whether that was outside the line, but it doesn't matter now.

  2. Change of ballpublished at 16:29 British Summer Time 29 September 2022

    Warwickshire v Hampshire 124-7 (Target 139)

Has Liam Norwell got something left for Warwickshire?

He caught prevent Nick Gubbins from getting one from his first ball.

James Fuller is hit on the pad but that was going down leg and they run a leg bye.

  3. SUSSEX DRAW WITH GLAMORGANpublished at 16:28 British Summer Time 29 September 2022

    Sussex 258 & 554-8d v Glam 533-9d

And with Dan Ibrahim’s century comes the shake of hands on a draw.

Glamorgan have given it their all for the past two days in the field but they’ve been superbly repelled in this second innings for 139 overs.

What a comeback it’s been from Sussex having followed on 275 behind.

Ali Orr played a superb innings, 198 from 174 balls, and the captain Tom Haines made his second hundred in two days, this time 177.

The visitors chipped away but Dan Ibrahim’s unbeaten 100 has steered Sussex to safety.

Victory wouldn’t have been enough for Glamorgan to get promoted anyway but it would have been a nice send off for Michael Hogan, the 41-year-old Australian who is retiring.

    Sussex 258 & 554-8 v Glam 533-9d

A maiden first-class hundred for 18-year-old Dan Ibrahim!

What a lovely moment for the young lad, who made his debut last summer as a 16-year-old.

    194 balls, 11 fours and a six.

The third century of this unbelievable second innings and the knock that has finally killed off Glamorgan’s victory push.

    Warwickshire v Hampshire 117-7 (Target 139)

James Fuller turns the first ball of Liam Norwell's opening over away for one.

Big appeal for a caught-behind against Nick Gubbins, but the umpire is not interested. Correct call.

He takes on Will Rhodes' throw at mid-on for a quick single off the last ball. Rhodes misses but Gubbins was home.

He now has 40 and Hampshire need just 22 runs.

Matthew Hibbert: Yorkshire won one game in the County Championship. The first one. What a joke it’s been. Nowhere near deserve to stay up. But where was Root when we needed him? We lose him for 90% of the season and don’t get him when he’s not playing for England.

  10. Only 26 runs neededpublished at 16:11 British Summer Time 29 September 2022

    Warwickshire v Hampshire 113-7 (Target 139)

That is a super shot from James Fuller through the covers off Liam Norwell for four.

Fuller is not one for hanging about blocking. He would have four off the next ball but for a fine stop from Warwickshire captain Will Rhodes.

He gets another one, before Nick Gubbins grabs three.

Fuller then squirts one down to third for another single.

A really positive shot through the covers from Gubbins brings up three from the last ball.

12 off the over. Only 26 more runs needed.

Two off the last ball. The target is down to 42 runs.

    Warwickshire v Hampshire 91-7 (Target 139)

Liam Norwell is a one-man wrecking ball!!!

No messing about here as he absolutely flattens Keith Barker's off stump.

A crackerjack of a ball as Barker is beaten by one that straightens as he tries to hit to leg.

Six in the innings for Norwell - 10 in the match.

Warwickshire only need THREE wickets. Hampshire still need 48 runs.

Paul Cotterill: Mixed emotion for a Lancastrian. Runner up spot and the extra prize money would be v nice, but missing the Roses match(es) for at least a year would be a downside both in terms of excitement and gate revenue.

  16. Five-wicket haul for Simon Harmerpublished at 15:53 British Summer Time 29 September 2022

With him and Nick Gubbins, there are two lefties out in the middle.

Gubbins takes a quick single out to Henry Brookes in the covers, but he can't take the ball cleanly and a possible run-out chance has gone.

Two off Norwell's 13th over. He has 5-34.

    Warwickshire v Hampshire 85-6 (Target 131)

    Take a bow Liam Norwell!

Aneurin Donald had got a boundary off the first ball and two off the next, but his luck runs out as he fences one to short extra cover and Jacob Bethell makes ground diving forward to take the catch.

Norwell has 5-31 and is playing a great hand in trying to save his team.

He now has ex-Warwickshire man Keith Barker in his sights.
