    The two Ws (Weatherley and Whiteley) work nine from the over with a mix of ones and twos - that will be a feature of the rest of the innings.

    A single by new batter Tim David takes the total to 100 but Phil Salt goes from the next delivery, bowled by Brett D'Oliveira for 44 from 27 balls as he attempts a big hit over the leg-side.

    Dane Vilas is lbw to the next delivery and D'Oliveira is on a hat-trick.

    This feels like a one-day game from years gone by where the batting team won't go big until the last few overs.

    Sussex v Essex 94-4

    Ravi Bopara strikes with the last ball of the eleventh over against his former employers to leave them 94-4.

    The four out batters have struggled, taking just 21 runs from 24 balls between them.

    No such trouble for Adam Rossington - the Essex opener has just gone four, four, six against young Archie Lenham, and moves to 86 from just 45 balls.

    We've now beyond the halfway mark in the Hampshire innings.

    It's a used pitch and a big ground so the batters are going to have to do some very good running for twos and threes as boundaries may be harder to come by than normal.

    Big hitter Ross Whiteley is tied up by Glenn Phillips with one from four balls before Joe Weatherley's reverse sweep off the final delivery relieves a bit of pressure.

    Reaching a total of around 140 will be a good effort from this position.

    But it's not making for a great spectacle so far as ball contains bat.

    Benny Howell into the attack with some medium pace but Tom Prest has seen enough and sends one over the rope for the first six of the night.

    More like it for Hampshire with 12 scored.
