Middlesex v Somerset (starts at 18:15)

The next game to get underway is at Lord's, where Somerset skipper Tom Abell has won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Craig Overton has been released by England to play in this round of Blast fixtures, and he will take the new ball.

A win for the visitors will guarantee their spot in the quarter-finals.

A good over by Luke Wells costs Lancashire just six runs at New Road. Worcestershire are 91-2 after 11 with Colin Munro 21 not out and Moeen Ali on nine. They really need to step on the gas pedal now.

  8. 6 runs

Maximum for Mopublished at 18:06 British Summer Time 1 July 2022

Moeen Ali clearly doesn't intend to hang about as he deposits Matt Parkinson into the crowd at long-on for the first six of the game against Lancashire Lightning. Worcestershire are 78-2 after nine overs - Moeen is eight not out and Colin Munro has 11.

  9. Postpublished at 18:02 British Summer Time 1 July 2022

    So what do we know?

Surrey are the only team mathematically certain of a place in the last eight.

Five teams - Durham, Worcestershire Rapids, Sussex Sharks, Middlesex and 2021 winners Kent Spitfires - are already out of the running.

If Hampshire Hawks beat Gloucestershire this evening, they will join Surrey in the quarter-finals, as will Somerset and Essex Eagles.

In North Group, whoever loses between Leicestershire Foxes and Northants Steelbacks will not be able to progress. Notts Outlaws must beat Durham to maintain their slim chances, but they will be eliminated anyway if Yorkshire Vikings beat Birmingham Bears - which would put Yorkshire into the last eight.

  14. Postpublished at 17:33 British Summer Time 1 July 2022

So Jos Buttler plays for Lancashire this evening but it looks very doubtful that he, Phil Salt, Liam Livingstone, Matt Parkinson and Richard Gleeson play any part, should the Lightning reach the quarter-finals.

The quarter-finals take place on 6, 8 and 9 July - but they are all in England's white-ball squad for games against South Africa, which include T20 internationals on 7, 9 and 10.

First up this evening it's the Rapids against the Lightning at New Road.

Victory for Lancashire will make sure of their place in the quarter-finals - and the exciting news is that they have new England white-ball captainJos Buttler in their side for the first time this season.

They have won the toss and chosen to field first against a Worcestershire side that have won only one game out of 12 so far.
