Here is one of those 834 sixes...

    Lovely strike from Aaron Finch.

  3. Aus 68-2published at 9 overs

Glenn Maxwell is the new batter for the hosts. Apparently he and Aaron Finch have hit a combined 834 sixes in T20 cricket. Let's hope for a few more today.

Maxwell - obviously, he doesn't know any other way - tries to go big straight away. He doesn't connect cleanly at all, but fortunately for him it lands in between three fielders.

    Eight from the over.

What a time to get a wicket. It was probably a yard outside off stump and shaped away. I'm really surprised the ball is still swinging at this stage of the innings.

    A massive wicket for Ireland.

    Barry McCarthy has two!

Again it definitely isn't the best ball that the Ireland bowler has ever bowled. It's wide and it entices the cut shot from Mitchell Marsh.

He is stretching though and a thick edge is well caught by Lorcan Tucker behind the stumps. Great grab.

Oh, I owe the Gabba crowd an apology. The first Mitchell Marsh six - which went 102m by the way - was actually grabbed a teenage lad. Fair play.

Left-arm spinner George Dockrell concedes seven from his first over. Tidy.

If you want some net run-rate chat, to improve theirs above England's, Australia would need to win by 74 runs today apparently.

    Of course you do.

    Goes again!

Slower ball from Fionn Hand and Mitchell Marsh isn't having that.

It is straight this time, over long-on, but it is massive again.

Dropped in the crowd again too. The crowd catching at the Gabba has been woeful so far.

    Top tier!

Length from Fionn Hand and Mitchell Marsh swings and whacks it an absolute mile over the leg-side.

    Some power that.

Spin to finish the powerplay as Gareth Delany comes into the attack.

Mitchell Marsh creams his first ball down the ground for four. There were shouts of catch but Marsh timed it so well the mid-off fielder had no chance.

Delany comes back well with five dot balls to end the over. There's a small shout for pad-bat, but Ireland quickly skip round and don't even debate the review.

Full from Mark Adair and Aaron Finch just plants him about 10 rows back over long-on.

He treated him with absolute disdain there and it made a wonderful noise off the bat.

Four to finish the over too as Finch plants over mid-off and the ball runs away.

Finch is starting to get going.

That will make Arron Finch feel better. Sometimes it just takes one shot to make things fall back into place again.

    That's an odd one.

Josh Little drops short and Aaron Finch opts to duck, despite being a good player of the shot and fine leg being up.

However, it doesn't get up that high and it ends up hitting him on the back.

That's a shot, though. A bit of width and the Aussie skipper smacks it through the covers for his first boundary.

Aaron Finch would have been out by yards. He'd given up.

  20. Aus 15-1published at 3.1 overs

    Hit em!

Aaron Finch sets off for a quick single but George Dockrell hurries in, gathers, releases but his throw is just wide of the stumps.

Finch gave up about 15 yards down the pitch. A direct hit and he was miles out.
