A bit of luck goes Sri Lanka's way. Sam Curran did nothing wrong there.
More of Sam Curran's adventures around the off-side acceptability.
Wanindu Hasaranga takes a big step across his stumps and then turns him around his legs for a much-needed four. Two more off the final ball off the over - just six from it. Excellent from Curran.

They just haven't played with any urgency at all. The innings completely stalled when Nissanka got out.

Richard Marc: England’s death bowling so far in this tournament has been phenomenal.
Wanindu Hasaranga is in at seven. He takes a single off the final ball of the over - just four from it.
Shanaka c Buttler b Wood 3 (SL 127-5)
A wicket is what he can do!
With this Sri Lankan innings slowly grinding to a halt, Shanaka feels the frustration - he steps back and has a big waft at a short ball from Wood. He's feathered it and it's an easy take for Jos Buttler.

There was no intent in that over from Sri Lanka at all. It was a bit odd.
Here's Mark Wood. His single over went for 17 runs and he's been off the field since with an injury.
What can he do here?

Top class from Curran, mixing up his pace well.
Sam Curran returns - he's hanging it wide of the off stump to limit the Sri Lankan scoring.
These are verging on wides here - a plaintive look from Shanaka to the umpire but he's having not of it.
Are Sri Lanka stalling at the vital moment?

It's obviously a very good thing that Adil Rashid has bowled so well but it's also a bit of a warning sign for England.
Captain Dasun Shanaka is the next man in.
Just a couple more singles off the over - Rashid finishes with figures of 4-0-16-1, and he's been vital in dragging England back into the match.

Pathum Nissanka certainly gave Sri Lanka an astonishing start. He was just trying to hit another one out of the ground.
It's nice to see some of England's players going up to say well played and I'm sure his own dressing room will be very appreciative.

He has set things up beautifully for Sri Lanka with that innings.
They will be really disappointed if they can't reach 170 from here - there are big hitters to come and this is Adil's last over.
Nissanka c Jordan b Rashid 67 (SL 118-4)
Rashid has his wicket!
His first of the tournament. Nissanka goes to clobber him down the ground and it's taken by Chris Jordan, on as a sub, coming in from the boundary.
A fantastic innings from Nissanka to put his team in an excellent position.
Thanks Tim.
The sun has set in Sydney and we're due a fantastic end to this Sri Lanka innings under the lights.
Here's Adil Rashid to finish his allotted overs.
Chris Woakes is taken for two fours by Pathum Nissanka as a slower ball and short one are punished. Five overs to go.
This is an impressive knock from Nissanka, but will it be a match-defining one? Mike Peter is on hand to see if he will carry his bat through for the rest of Sri Lanka's innings.
