  1. Birthday girl Sciver takes Rockets to victory against Spiritpublished at 18:25 British Summer Time 20 August 2022

On her 30th birthday, Nat Sciver inspired Trent Rockets to a comfortable 18-run victory against London Spirit at Trent Bridge.

The England all-rounder and Rockets captain took two wickets in two balls and scored 42 in an impressive display.

She shared a partnership of 97 with opener Bryony Smith, who made 63 from 44 balls, in the Rockets' 142-4.

The Spirit then got off to a good start in the chase hitting 17 off the first 10 balls but Sciver dismissed Australia international Beth Mooney and Alice Monaghan in consecutive deliveries.

Amelia Kerr defended the hat-trick ball but was out for 26, trying to sweep Sarah Glenn and ultimately the Rockets total proved too much for the London outfit.

Rockets now have two wins from four games while the Spirit have three defeats from three.

Smith, who was named Match Hero for her knock said: "We spoke yesterday how partnerships will be the key and we lacked that in the first three games. [Nat Sciver] made it look easy out there and it's her birthday as well so well done!"

    Here's what else happened:

    • Bryony Smith was on 16 off 16 at one stage before ending on 63 off 44. Her knock included eight fours and two sixes - one of which measured a huge 72m.
    • Rockets were 136-1 with ten balls remaining but finished on 142-4 with Megan Schutt’s last five balls going for just one bye.
    • Alana King, the hat trick hero from last weekend, took just two balls to strike, trapping Grace Scrivens plumb.
    • The ice cream kid!

    What's next?

Match Hero Bryony Smith: "We were struggling to time it early but our partnership was going to be key, and we rotated the strike which was better.

"At half time we said we will field exactly the same way.

"[Nat Sciver] made it look easy out there and it's her birthday as well so well done!"

The Spirit have just really missing that edition of Heather Knight. They just struggled early on. They didn't take wickets.

Just a matter of time now.

Sophie Luff tries to go big, but the ball just plops up in the air and Marie Kelly takes a safe catch to hand Brunt her first wicket.

This has been an impressive performance from the Rockets.

Great shot from Dattani, it's just a shame she couldn't find that form earlier in the innings.

What a shot! Naomi Dattani is just going to enjoy herself out there as the win is pretty unlikely.

She smashes Sarah Glenn high over her head for the first six of the Spirit innings.

The best action is currently taking place in the stands, as a young boy is devouring an ice cream that is so precariously balanced on the end of the cone.

It's so tense. Who will win? Boy or ice cream? Rockets or Spirit?

Dani Gibson's fun comes to an end.

She tries to kick things on, rightly, and actually connects well with a sweep shot off the spinner but it ends up straight in Sarah Glenn's hands.

The perfect start after the timeout for Rockets.
