  1. Rockets 57-1published at 45 balls

    Smith 20, Sciver 7

Bryony Smith is struggling to find the middle and can't get the ball away. She's chewing up deliveries.

But just as I say that she goes for the sweep round the corner and finds the boundary despite Megan Schutt's best efforts.

Momentum can shift so quickly in 100-ball cricket. That's the beauty of it.

We haven't seen much of Scrivens bowling in the tournament so far so it will be interesting to see how she gets on.

Scrivens is a handy player, a clever cricketer for a young player. The game is very much in the balance.

Replay and ultra-edge confirm it was all pad. A really good decision from Mooney not to go for the review. She's cool as a cucumber and unfazed by the enthusiastic appeal from Scrivens. The pressure is starting to build.

  5. Rockets 51-1published at 40 balls

    Smith 16, Sciver 6

Sciver attempts the reverse and Grace Scrivens goes up thinking she's got some bat on it on its way through to Mooney. Umpire unmoved but it was definitely close.

Was there a noise? Was there some glove?

  6. Rockets 50-1published at 35 balls

    Smith 15, Sciver

Sciver is charging and has come out with real intent. Fifty up for the Rockets and children in the crowd are waving happy birthday banners while decked out in full Rockets attire.

It shows just how much this tournament has captured the fans.

  7. Rockets 43-1published at 31 balls

The birthday gift comes in the form of a free hit and overthrows. I think she'll take that.

A really good piece of bowling from Kerr and an important wicket because Villani was just getting going.

Nat Sciver comes to the crease to celebrate her 30th birthday. I wonder what kind of cake she has? Save us a slice please Nat!

    WICKETpublished at 30 balls

    Villani b A Kerr 24 (Rockets 40-1)

The googly confuses Villani who was looking dangerous. Flighted delivery and she looks to go up and over and instead hears the death rattle as it clatters into her middle stump.

  11. Rockets 37-1published at 25 balls

    Smith 11, Villani 23

Bryony Smith in on the action. She takes advantage of the width on offer and reminds London Spirit that there are two openers with the ability to find the boundary.

Elyse Villani continues her aggression and it's dispatched to the leg-side boundary. She backs it up with another four.

The Powerplay has very much been in the favour of the Rockets.

The aggressor has been Villani so far.

  14. Rockets 27-0published at 20 balls

    Smith 2, Villani 22

Villani hogging the strike and Smith is a bit of a bystander at the moment. She's got the best seat in the house for a Villani striking masterclass. Villani has faced 22 of the balls so far.

She'll need to study the laws of getting Villani out if they hope to stem this run flow.

Freya Davies is a trained lawyer.

I wonder if she studies the law of cricket?

  17. Rockets 25-0published at 15 balls

    Smith 1, Villani 21

Villani again with the ramp. She looks in the mood.

The next ball is a little short and wide from Davies and Villani pounces for back-to-back boundaries.

Like I said...she's in the mood. And just like that she finishes the set with a lovely straight drive to make it three boundaries from Davies' set.

An unchanged team for the Trent Rockets. Villani and Smith haven't got going in the tournament yet.

  19. Rockets 13-0published at 10 balls

    Smith 1, Villani 9

Reverse sweep from Villani takes on a bit of extra pace from Dean.

Children in the crowd are rocking those Trent Rockets headbands with blonde hair sticking out of them. Is this the start of a Nottingham-based Villani fan club?

  20. Rockets 6-0published at 5 balls

    Smith 0, Villani 4

Saturday arvo at the cricket? It's a yes from me. The crowd obviously agree and they are flowing into Trent Bridge resplendent in their yellow and blue.

Villani off the mark with the ramp down to fine leg for four. I hear on good authority that she spent two hours in the nets this morning getting her eye in so it's no surprise she's seeing it well. Especially with that swing from Schutt.
