Spirit come flying out of the smoke arch and form a tight huddle. They've been backed by captain Dean to keep a lid on the so far sub-par Rockets battling line-up. Can they vindicate her decision?
Will the Rockets launch? Thumbs up.
Or will London bring their Spirit? Thumbs down.
Rockets captain Nat Sciver: "We have played on this wicket before. It started off tacky but will be pretty good. As batters it is about taking ownership and getting partnerships together. Our bowling has been amazing. If we get a good score on the board we can hopefully defend it."
Trent Rockets: Elyse Villani, Bryony Smith, Nat Sciver (c), Mignon du Preez, Marie Kelly, Abbey Freeborn (wk), Sarah Glenn, Alana King, Kathryn Bryce, Kathryn Bryce, Sophie Munro.
London Spirit: Grace Scrivens, Beth Mooney (wk), Amelia Kerr, Dani Gibson, Sophie Luff, Naomi Dattani, Alice Monaghan, Charlie Dean (c), Nat Wraith, Freya Davies, Megan Schutt.
Charlie Dean calls correctly and backs her bowlers and fielders to give them something chaseable. They've had a few days off and are refreshed and ready to go.
Birthday girl Nat Sciver wanted to bowl but her birthday wish didn't come true. She's aware that they need to build those partnerships better but can't sing high enough praises for her bowlers.
Both teams unchanged.
Today's match-up is an all-Aussie affair. While many of the stars from Down Under couldn't get over for the 2021 competition, they've well and truly announced themselves and made up for it in 2022.
Spirit's opener Beth Mooney has been more than worth her air miles already in this tournament. In their opening game against the Southern Brave, the Australian dispatched the ball to all parts on her way to an unbeaten 97. She was agonisingly close to the first hundred in the women's Hundred and with that innings, set out her intent from the start. She continued this into their match against Superchargers smashing three fours in the first 10 balls and racing to 30 from 20. Had it not have been for some impressive glove work from countrywoman Alyssa Healy, there's no doubt in my mind the Mooney party would have raged on.
Alana King, hopefully decked out in THOSE sunnies will be looking to be the party pooper for the Mooney mania. The young leggie took the first hat-trick of the women's hundred in her first Hundred game and has had batters in all sorts of tangles. She's the coolest customer and seemingly unflappable and I cannot wait to see the game of cat and mouse between her and her fellow Aussie.
It's Aussie v Aussie and it could be blockbuster.
Who will get the bragging rights to take back to the green and gold dressing room?
While the scoresheets don't reflect favourably on the Spirit's endeavours, they look like a side who have a lot to offer and just need that bit of luck, that extra spark, to get them over the line. With both experience and youth in their ranks and a world-class coach in Trevor Griffin, you can be sure this team have more to offer. Could today be the day?
The Rockets started well but have since seen a slump so will be keen to turn the tables back in their favour. They have an in-form Nat Sciver steering their ship, one of the all-time greats in Katherine Brunt and two in-form leggies with Alana King and Sarah Glenn who isn't just getting wickets but also taking speccies.
They pushed the defending champions to the last ball in their previous game and have proved that they have that potential. It's with the bat that they haven't quite clicked but they have the talent in their ranks and need to avoid losing those consistent wickets to post a good score or chase down a total.
Hello and welcome to another Super Saturday with yet more Hundred action.
Oh it really is a mouth-watering double-header in store with the Trent Rockets hosting the London Spirit.
Up first we've got the women in action and it's Nat Sciver's Rockets taking on Charlie Dean's Spirit. The Rockets have played one more game than their opponents but only have one win to show for it beating Manchester Originals in their first game (urm hello thank you Alana King hat-trick for that one.)
The Lord's-based team have only played two but have been on the losing side of both so are looking to get their first win on the board.
Who will come out on top as we get into the meaty part of the tournament?
We all know Trent Bridge can be a haven for run-scoring so I'm all in for a sun drenched run fest.
