    Kapp c Cross b Sciver 12 (SA 73-4)

    The pressure tells again!

Marizanne Kapp again feels like she needs to go for the big shot as a result of runs not flowing freely and she plinks a drive straight to Kate Cross at mid-on, who takes a good low catch.

Kapp used up 27 balls for her 12. She wasn't anywhere near her fluent best.

A change for England as Nat Sciver replaces Sophie Ecclestone.

Here's how Ecclestone picked up the wicket of captain Sune Luus.

You feel that these two - Kapp and Wolvaardt - are the key for South Africa now.

  4. SA 69-3published at 22 overs

Three singles from Charlie Dean's latest over.

It feels like a good pitch and the outfield is rapid so South Africa will need to get at least 250 to challenge England, you'd think.

They are some way off that right now.

Kapp is trying to force some boundaries and England are looking to put on the squeeze.

You felt like that was coming. Kapp feeling the pressure after 12 successive dots against Ecclestone. It was quite safe with mid-off and mid-on up, though.

  7. SA 66-3published at 21 overs

The pressure on Marizanne Kapp releases a little bit. She'd played out 12 successive dot balls from Sophie Ecclestone before the all-rounder goes big and hits over mid-on for a one-bounce for.

It feels like Kapp is a bit shot or block at the moment. South Africa need her to get a significant score.

That is the first boundary since the last over of the powerplay.

Finally, Marizanne Kapp has got off the mark. The shackles have been broken.

  10. SA 62-3published at 20 overs

    Wolvaardt 28, Kapp 6

    Oh, shot!

Marizanne Kapp gets off the mark with a big crashing drive down the ground for four. Lovely timing and placement from the all-rounder.

A much better over from South Africa, picking up eight runs.

Since Lydia Greenway retired in 2016, there have only been three innings by an England left-hander. It's Tash Farrant. That means that in that time, only 0.27% of England's runs have come from left-handers.

  12. SA 54-3published at 19 overs

Another tidy over from Sophie Ecclestone, conceding just one single.

The run-rate at the moment is a miserly 2.84. It's, erm, all a bit flat.

Brunt fumbles and then looks suspiciously at the ground because, of course, if she has misfielded, it can't have been her fault. I like that in a cricketer.

  14. SA 53-3published at 18 overs

Double spin for England as off-spinner Charlie Dean comes into the attack for the first time today.

She concedes just one from the over.

The pressure is building on Marizanne Kapp. She's still to get off the mark after eight deliveries. She's played some lovely shots but she's hit the fielders.

  15. SA 52-3published at 17 overs

    Wolvaardt 24, Kapp 0

Oh! A big appeal from Sophie Ecclestone for an lbw shout against new batter Marizanne Kapp but in the end England opt against the review.

Kapp will be key for the remainder of this innings. She made 150 in the Test so she's a big scalp.

This is a key partnership to be fair.

The pressure was beginning to tell on the South Africa captain. It was almost a yorker from Ecclestone, very full anyway and Luus tried to make something of it and was bowled.

Luus just getting into a tangle. She felt she had to get on with it and be more aggressive. Ecclestone gets her first wicket.

  18. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 16.2 overs

    Luus b Ecclestone 7 (SA 52-3)

    The pressure tells!

This is a really good piece of bowling from Sophie Ecclestone. She knew the pressure was building on South Africa captain Sune Luus and knew that a big shot was needed.

She throws it up above the eyeline and Luus goes for the big shot and the ball sneaks under her bat and cannons into leg stump.

Just to clear up the mystery of the object on the outfield. It is being taken off now, it's just a carrier bag. Very disappointing.

Umpire Lloyd has pointed out something on the outfield. It is hard to see from here without binoculars - it could be a sheep? Or just a fleece?
