  1. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 11.2 overs

    Buttler c Richardson b Ellis 68 (Eng 132-1)

The end of a superb innings and a brilliant partnership.

Breakthrough at last for Australia as Buttler tries to muscle the ball over mid-off, doesn't get enough on it and Kane Richardson comes round to take a straightforward catch.

    Australia really needed that.

Sublime batting from England. As a bowler you wonder where you are supposed to bowl to.

  3. Eng 128-0published at 11 overs

A pair of singles to finish another productive over for England.

Buttler end up on the deck after running the second of them as his bat gets caught in the turf but there's no lasting damage.

  4. Eng 126-0published at 10.3 overs

The second half of the innings continues in the same manner as the first. Boundaries.

Two of them for Hales but Sams can feel a little hard done by for both. The first is a top-edged pull and gets over Wade, the next is an inside edge that goes fine of short fine leg and trickles away.

    They all count.

Too short from Swepson and Buttler punishes him. The England man finds the gap at deep mid-wicket and that boundary takes us to the halfway point of the innings.

The players will take a drink and Australia have plenty to ponder as they do. This has been fantastic from Buttler and Hales.

It's fair to say England's opening pair look in here.

  7. 6 runs

    Eng 112-0published at 9.3 overs

Six more! Jos Buttler heaves the ball over the leg side. He didn't get all of that but he still got more than enough to ensure it carried safely over the rope.

Brilliant stuff from the England openers.

  8. 50 runs

50 for Alex Halespublished at 9.1 overs

    Eng 105-0

Alex Hales joins his skipper in reaching a half-century. He gets there from 29 balls with his fifth four - to go with three sixes - as he pulls Swepson away behind square.

That's the way to justify your selection at the top of the order.

They have tried to make the pitches here the same or as close to the same as the WACA. Clay was used from the WACA trying to emulate the pitches. It was a bit of a process to get it all in. I remember playing in some early games here they were fresh and spicy wickets, and it slowly started to come out and they got better. They are now true and fast. A great place to play as quick bowler but if you get yourself in with the bat too you can have a good day.

  10. 100 runs

    Eng 101-0published at 9 overs

The 100 partnership is up now with a couple of singles to end the Green over. We've not even reached the halfway stage of the innings yet...

  13. 50 runs

50 for Jos Buttlerpublished at 8.3 overs

    Eng 99-0

This won't help Aaron Finch's mood! Next ball and Buttler gets the ball up and over short third for four to bring up a 25-ball half-century.

What a return to the side it has been for the England skipper. A 16th T20 international for him and England will hope he is a long way from done today!

Did that carry? Aaron Finch is asking the umpire. But it's academic as the time ran out for a review.

  15. Eng 95-0published at 8.3 overs

Aaron Finch is not happy as feels he misses the chance of a review for caught behind after Buttler misses a ramp shot.

He wanted to know if the ball carried to Matthew Wade but didn't get an answer from the umpire. Not sure why he didn't just ask the wicketkeeper?

  17. Eng 93-0published at 8 overs

    Buttler 46, Hales 45

That is a big over for England - 21 from it - and it's a race to fifty between Buttler and Hales.

    The skipper is on strike...

That was one of the cleanest hits of a cricket ball you will see from Alex Hales. We know as a bowling unit from the Big Bash he can really get on top of you.

  19. 6 runs

    Eng 89-0published at 7.3 overs

That one is out of the middle! Hales gets a big stride and uses his long levers to hammer the ball back over Stoinis' head and into the sightscreen.

Comfortably the best shot of Hales' innings so far.

The rub of the green is definitely going with England today. It's a miscue from Alex Hales and it's gone for six.
