What a remarkable hour. Babar Azam is looking for options out there but he's used most of them.

Pakistan are without Shaheen Shah Afridi, who has just had an operation to have his appendix removed.
He would have been on the frontline of bowlers. He's a deadly bowler.
Advent calendar update: I've given in and opened the first window, and it was lovely.
Now to test my willpower and try not to eat the whole thing on day one. Wish me luck.
Spare a thought for Pakistan's fielders.
They'll have covered the distance of a marathon by the end of the day if England keep going at this rate.
Eng 94-0
Carnage. Absolute carnage.
Zak Crawley sweeps for four to bring up a wonderful half-century from a rather pedestrian... 38 balls.

Re the Postman Pat lunchbox: That's perfect for early in the morning, just as day is dawning.

That ball was so fast from Rauf and Crawley played that like he was in the nets!
Zak Crawley looks in wonderful form with consecutive back-foot pulls for four as Haris Rauf drops too short.
That's dismissive.
Imagine if England's players were at full health. They'd have declared by now.
Before this match started, England had struck a boundary once every 13 balls in men’s Tests since the beginning of 2022, only India of all teams have a better such rate in the format (12).
Pakistan are, meanwhile, at the bottom of the list having averaged one boundary every 22 deliveries.

It's the first time we've seen Ben Duckett in an England Test shirt in six years and he looks really comfortable out there.
Wow.
Ben Duckett greets the spinner with a crunching reverse sweep that absolutely races away to the boundary, followed by a deft paddle over his shoulder for four more.
Talk about a statement.

It's quite a remarkable start from England. They haven't really taken any chances.
10 overs into the game we're going to see the spinners being introduced.
Me with my advent calendar, Stephan with a Postman Pat lunchbox.
We're really mature here at BBC Sport.

Just to add to the chaos I mentioned earlier, this ground is next to a poultry research institute, so each morning we are greeted by the chooks.
Two days ago, as we went to leave the ground, we discovered Sky had pinched our bus. Nasser Hussain and Michael Atherton had to turn around, halfway back to the hotel, in order to collect us.
Finally, to err on the side of caution, I'm bringing my own food to the ground in my son's Postman Pat lunchbox. It was opened and searched on the way into the ground this morning.
Back-to-back boundaries from Zak Crawley, driving perfectly through the covers before clipping one off his legs through mid-wicket.
This is lovely viewing.
The first loose shot from Ben Duckett, slashing at one wide outside off stump.
But you can guess the result, and Naseem Shah can only laugh in frustration. He's actually bowled really well but has rather unflattering figures of 0-30 from five overs.

24 off 24 balls. That's Crawley selected for the rest of the series no matter what happens next. Untouchable.

Crawley has played beautifully so far. Pakistan might be the few places in the world where opening the batting is a nice option and not a burden.
Haris Rauf completes a tidy first over in Test cricket, just three from it.
He's got plenty of experience in the shorter formats, and can bowl rapid, but a pitch this flat in these conditions is going to be a tough challenge.
That's the kind of encouragement I need at this time of the morning, Angus.
Thank you.
