How fantastic is this Pakistan crowd? Some lovely banners of welcome. They are a credit to Pakistan and cricket sportsmanship.

Another reading is taken but it's OK for now. On we go.

Batting at number seven is never easy because if you lose your partner you have to bat with tailenders. Some are good at it and others aren't.

English hands are going into the air after Zahid Mahmood lurches forward to every ball. Bafflingly he takes a single at the end of the over to keep the strike but will the umpires allow another over?

Zahid Mahmood has come out to bat. England are rushing through as the floodlights taken more and more of an effect. We're going to have at least one more over.

I told you, us tailenders can't really help ourselves. It was a slower bowl and Leach grabs it beautifully.

England have got another right at the death! The fielders all rush to Jack Leach who has taken a very good diving catch out at deep mid-wicket. Naseem Shah can't believe what he's done. He's bent over his bat at the middle of the pitch. There can only be 10 minutes left in the day at most.

    Will Jacks has three!

I recall reading a Russian hotel brochure in Vladivostok in the early 1990s that began: Welcome to our city. If you don't like our hotel, you should know all the others are worse.

These two have just halted England's momentum. There's not the excitement there was 10 minutes ago. The light is just about holding.

    Sensational.

Agha Salman does well to defend an over of Robinson. England would love to throw the ball to Liam Livingstone for a bit of leg-spin but he's still off the field with an injury.

    What have I done?

Naseem Shah plants Jack Leach back over long-on for six. I think we have seen the tailender turning into world beater against England script before.

England would love to stay out there for longer and get a few more wickets.

Ben Stokes is all action, sensing the moment. He frantically waves his arms to move a fielder. Salman defends to Anderson as the floodlights flicker into action.

My fault. Naseem Shah gets off the mark with a textbook cover drive where he looks like Younis Khan.

That short mid-wicket position has finally worked for England. Rizwan looking to flick the ball onto the on-side and Stokes takes the catch at knee height.

And another! England have the two big wickets late in the day and you can see what it means in Ben Stokes' celebration. He has almost tossed the ball to the moon after taking a catch at mid-wicket.

Jimmy Anderson has his first Test wicket in Pakistan at the age of 40.
