  1. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 51.4 overs

Anderson b Zahid 7 (Eng 281 all out)

That'll do it. Another reverse sweep from Jimmy Anderson but a very different result as the ball crashes into the timbers.

Zahid Mahmood has his third, the leggie has done a good job of mopping up the tail but this innings is all about another leg-spinner.

Abrar Ahmed ends with figures of 7-114 on debut.

Wood is having his way with Abrar so far.

If they get over that 300-run mark, they'll feel like they've gotten out of jail.

  3. Eng 279-9published at 51 overs

    Anderson 6, Wood 31

    Three more boundaries to Wood!

The first is hit back past mid on, in the air but wide of the fielder, before the second is clubbed over extra cover.

Number three is rather less firmly hit with the ball spiralling off the outside edge, hanging in the air to invite Imam-ul-Haq to come in ansd try and take the catch at backward point.

However, it dips and falls short of him before spinning away to the fence.

This pot hole laden cracker of a pitch will be a challenge regardless of the seamer/spinner issue, as Stokes said they’re playing to the light conditions AM and PM, this is great to watch!

Against the run of play but these are valuable runs for England.

This is the right approach from Wood. He can hit a long ball and there's no point in sitting around.

  7. Eng 264-9published at 50 overs

Mark Wood is on the attack! Three boundaries in four balls from the England man.

He was down the track and hitting Zahid Mahmood through extra cover to start, not middled but four.

He then hoicked the ball through mid-wicket, not middled but four. Then he finally does get hold of one a couple of balls later - four more!

    Very useful runs for England.

Perhaps Wood and Anderson had a chat and said they'd rather be batting than bowling right now.

  10. Eng 251-9published at 49 overs

Mark Wood punches the ball through the covers for two, bringing up a couple of milestones.

It's 250 up for England and 100 runs conceded by Abrar - I'm not sure it is that bit of his figures he'll be focusing on later, mind you.

Keir McCumiskey: England too aggressive? Perhaps. But this time last year, England would have needled, nurdled and limped to 147 all out. So the approach is still the right one.

There's the reverse-sweep and he's made excellent contact with it. It's going for four.

  13. Eng 249-9published at 48 overs

Solid block from Jimmy Anderson. No hat-trick for Zahid Mahmood, not this time.

The reverse sweep is out next ball, though. It's Jimmy's favourite shot and he middles it. Behind square for four.

Feels a bit out of character for Jack Leach.

Mahmood is now on a hat-trick. It'll be a redemption from Rawalpindi where he went for over 300 runs.

What was he thinking? He moved way outside the off stump and then tried to reverse-sweep it. There was clearly no planning to it.

  16. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 47.4 overs

    Leach b Zahid 0 (Eng 245-9)

Bowled 'im! Two in two for Zahid Mahmood, he's on a hat-trick!

Jack Leach tries the reverse sweep first up. He misses, the bowler hits and Pakistan are one wicket away from wrapping up the England innings.

Mahmood gets his first wicket. Abrar can't get ten but Pakistan are inching closer to bowling England out.

  18. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 47.3 overs

    Robinson c Nawaz b Zahid 5 (Eng 245-8)

Boooo! No 10-for for Abrar as Zahid Mahmood has Robinson caught at mid on.

The England man had nailed a slog sweep for four the previous ball, tried to repeat it but is done by the bounce and sends the ball skywards.

Mohammad Nawaz gets underneath it at mid on and takes the catch with ease. England eight down and still shy of 250 after opting to bat first.

More leg spin now, Zahid Mahmood is back into the attack after going for 40 in his five overs in the morning session.
