Before the game started, Ben Stokes said England would be flexible around Ollie Pope's keeping and batting commitments. I don't think anyone had this in mind...

Abrar's loosening up already by the looks of it. Is he coming on already? He's a very scholarly looking fellow with those glasses.
Lead by 90
Interesting. A change in the order for England with Will Jacks coming on at number three. Is that to give Ollie Pope a bit more of a break after keeping? Or sending Jacks out to pinch hit?
Anyway, it's another maiden from Faheem, who has started well.

That's frustrating for England because there was no real need for that. It was a straightforward piece of fielding for Abrar and Crawley was out by a yard.

Abrar is celebrating like an aeroplane with his arms out.
Crawley run out (Abrar) 3 (Eng 11-1)
Needless from Zak Crawley but you can't keep Abrar Ahmed out of the game!
Crawley pushes the ball back towards mid-on and calls for the quick single, Abrar comes in and has a straightforward underarm throw at the stumps.
He hits and Crawley is well short of his ground. A gift for Pakistan.

Wonderful shot. Very full, bit of width and Duckett, who's not a very tall man, sort of crouched as he played that. It was a squatting sort of cover drive.
Lead by 90
Ali overcorrects with his length next ball but it is still too wide and this time Duckett drills the ball through extra cover for four more.
England are up and running.
Lead by 86
Short, wide and Duckett clobbers the ball over point for the first boundary of the innings.
That was a really freebie from Mohammad Ali.
Lead by 82
Faheem Ashraf bowls the second over and he starts with a maiden.
Crawley unfurls a handsome cover drive but the off-side field is packed and the ball goes straight to the man set back slightly deeper in the ring.

Ben in Hove: (07:24) Kallis and S Waugh.
Digger in sunny Dagenham
It's too late now, Digger, I've given you the answer...
Lead by 82
It's Mohammad Ali bowling the first over and Zak Crawley is able to guide the first ball past gully for two.
A punch to the fielder halfway back at point gives Crawley another single and that is it for the scoring in the over.
There is a hint of swing for Ali, though. We didn't see that with the new ball in either side's first innings.

It's a murky day. There's a darker feel to the clouds. I don't know if it's smog.
Anyway, we've got a couple more modes of transport to add.
Right then, the players are back out. It's Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett in the middle for England as they aim to build another match-winning lead.
Here we go...
All smiles for England after that session. The morning went as well as they could possibly have hoped for.
Will they cement their strong position in the match in the afternoon session?
Funny you should mention that, Wallace. We have the answer right here. Plenty of people got one or the other, this is the only one I could find to guess both correctly and it's anonymous!
Anyway, well done whoever you are and great question Ben! It was indeed Jacques Kallis (13,289 runs and 292 wickets) and Steve Waugh (10,927 runs and 92 wickets).
Plenty mentioned Sachin Tendulkar but he only took 46 wickets...
Jacques Kallis will be one, any question about top Test all-rounders then he's always a safe answer! Steve Waugh for the other?

Wallace Poulter: Can we get an update on Ben in Hove (07:24) concerning Joe Root on his way to being third to 10k runs and 50 wickets in Tests. Steve Waugh is one, but who on earth is the second?
Robinson got things started and then it was over to Jack Leach to really press home England's advantage.
