It's a lovely day here in Multan. The best we've had in terms of weather and the crowd. Cricket wise, it's very balanced.

mb: This game needs "one of those magical spells" from Stuart Broad...ah!
Target 355
England have got three fielders in catching in front of square now. Pretty much point (just in front of square), cover and mid-off but about 10-20 yards closer to the bat than regulation.
Meanwhile, Shakeel drops his bat at the non-striker's end just as Robinson delivers the ball and then has to set off for two after Imam turns the ball around the corner. Good job it was a pretty comfortable two!

When the seamers are on, England have had a measure of threat. Not so when the spinners have been on.
Target 355
The seamers have at least managed to slow the scoring rate. Just one from Wood's latest.
He did manage to extract a bit of extra bounce with one shorter delivery, too. No mean feat on this surface.
True, Tony. After a good showing in the first innings, Leach hasn't found any sort of rhythm yet in the second. Still plenty of time for that to change, mind.

You write that the England spinners are leaking runs but it is really just one of them. Leach 18 overs but no maidens.

England need a magic ball again.
Target 355
Three singles from Robinson's over. The pitch is holding up perfectly well, the way Imam and Shakeel are batting makes it look like it might even have flattened out.
I think it is safe to say we will be back tomorrow anyway given the light is sure to prevent a full evening session again.

Something's exciting the crowd out there. Is Simon Mann doing a round around the ground? No, Imam has got to fifty.
Pak 173-3
Imam-ul-Haq dabs the ball behind square on the off side and jogs through to reach his fifth Test half-century.
He's batted very nicely and this partnership with Shakeel has given Pakistan a real chance in Multan.
Double change for England. Ollie Robinson is back as well.
Target 355
We're at the stage where England want to get the ball changed, it goes through the rings just fine though so the umpire just tosses it back to Wood.
The ball might not be doing anything but Wood still concedes just one from his first over back. Imam moves to 49.

Coming down the pitch and using his feet, that was really well played by Imam.
Target 355
Another boundary for Pakistan as Imam drives elegantly through the covers, expertly finding the gap to move to within touching distance of a half-century.
It looks like Stokes has had enough of seeing his spinners played with such ease, Mark Wood is set to bowl the next over.

Jack Leach's last four overs have gone for eight, eight, nine and eight with at least one boundary in each.
Target 355
Really good footwork from Imam to take advantage of another ball that is just too short from Leach.
It's probably on a middle or middle and off line, but Imam is still able to go back and create the room to hit through to that unprotected cover boundary.
The England spinners are struggling to keep a lid on the run rate.

Feels like the game is in a slight holding pattern. England run the risk of giving away a few easy runs to Pakistan.

It's a lovely afternoon. It's the clearest we've had. Just uninterrupted sunshine with not a cloud in sight and a gentle breeze.
Target 355
Root really doesn't mess around. He's great for the over rate and is through another one in no time.
The Pakistan batters don't look rushed, though. They're quite settled at the crease so England will be pleased to see Jimmy Anderson sauntering back out.
