  1. NZ 229-4published at 93 overs

Good work from Stuart Broad as he chases a Daryl Mitchell drive and pulls it back on the line with a dive at deep mid-wicket to save one.

England with good standards in the field today. Ollie Robinson gives him a nod of thanks.

Just the three runs for Mitchell off that over.

It's a concern England might not be able to call on Ben Stokes to bowl. We saw his knee almost collapse on him. But we know he can batter through the pain if needs be. We have a new ball, a good bowling attack. It's unusual to see seamers struggling, but that can all change with a few magic balls.

I loved Vettori but growing up with NZ "fast" bowling attacks of the 80s and 90s the arrival of Shane Bond was so exciting. Lethal when healthy.

  4. NZ 226-4published at 92 overs

A cry of 'catch...ohhh' from Jack Leach after Daryl Mitchell pushes forward at his third ball which is in the air momentarily, but in truth Ollie Pope would need to have Superman powers to take that one.

Two runs off Leach's over. The England left-arm spinner settling into a nice rhythm as the scores are drawn level.

Favourite ever cricketer from New Zealand is Ben Stokes 😁

    Norm from Hastings

My favourite ever player from those fair islands of New Zealand is probably Ben Stokes.

Jason from Folkestone with his tongue firmly wedged in his cheek

  6. NZ 224-4published at 91 overs

A wild throw from the deep to the non-striker's end off Ollie Robinson's final delivery as Daryl Mitchell takes two.

The England seamer, very much in the manner of a man looking to protect his own bowling firgues, dives to prevent any overthrows.

As I've worn glasses since I was 5 years old, Daniel Vettori has always been one of my sporting idols.

Favourite NZ cricketer? Has to be Daniel Vettori! The second-best bespectacled wizard of the 90s/00s.

    Nelly, West Yorks

As a glasses wearing cricketer, I was a big fan of Daniel Vettori. He was a class act!

England deserve that. They have been on the money this morning. Robinson has tortured Nicholls, constantly beating the edge and almost having him caught at short leg. England's problem is Kane Williamson looks very settled.

Gone next ball as double nelson strikes.

A similar length from Ollie Robinson, but this time Henry Nicholls plays with a straighter bat face and it takes the edge.

Harry Brook juggles the catch once, twice, thrice before eventually clinging on at fourth slip.

  10. NZ 222-3published at 90.2 overs

Oof. This is close from Ollie Robinson as he angles one across Henry Nicholls who cannot resist having a nibble. It just misses the outside edge of his bat, though.

Every morning of the this Test the players have walked out to the strings from Bittersweet Symphony by The Verve. This should be made mandatory at all Test grounds.

  12. NZ 222-3published at 90 overs

    Trail by four runs

Plenty of flight from Jack Leach early on as he looks to make an early breakthrough but Henry Nicholls sweeps his second ball away relatively comfortably for a single.

Kane Williamson also happy enough to cut him for a single, too.

An early bowling change, then, as Jack Leach replaces James Anderson.

  14. NZ 219-3published at 89 overs

The first ball of Ollie Robinson's over climbs into Henry Nicholls and the ball comes off the inside edge of his bat and loops up over Ollie Pope at short leg before dropping safe.

    Encouragement for England.

Great to watch and seems like a top guy as well. Must be my favourite Kiwi cricketer.

Regarding imposing follow-on. If England had batted again and set New Zealand over 500 to win the Test match would have just become a drab bore. At least this way both teams have got something to play for. It is keeping the game alive.

    James, Warwickshire

  18. NZ 219-3published at 88 overs

Nothing much to worry England's batters regarding this surface. New Zealand's batters have both looked pretty comfortable against James Anderson and Ollie Robinson

Kane Williamson nudges the ball back to James Anderson who flicks it up with his boot and promptly does a few keepie uppies.

    Two singles off that over.

    Steven Finn
Former England bowler on BT Sport

I don't think there was any doubt about enforcing the follow on with the bowlers fired up and the skies grey. They wouldn't have anticipated New Zealand would have show so much resistance compared to what we have seen so far.

  20. NZ 216-3published at 21:50 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February 2023

The follow-on debate is an interesting one. I think if this was a five-match series against India or Australia, Ben Stokes might react differently.

The logic was sound. Not least because they felt confidence of knocking a struggling New Zealand top over. England still very much in a strong position even though it didn't go to completely to plan yesterday.

A maiden over from Ollie Robinson to Henry Nicholls.
