Olly Stone went for the short ball but it didn't get up high enough to trouble Travis Head at all.

Head is a local boy so he knows this ground so well. It's his backyard.

  2. 6 runs

    Aus 19-0published at 3.5 overs

    Target 288

After 10 dot balls in a row, Stone tests Head with a bouncer but the Australia left-hander swivels on it and pulls it away - all the way for six!

    Nicely played.

  3. Aus 15-0published at 3.3 overs

Nine balls bowled, no runs conceded from Olly Stone and his pace is looking good, too.

    Great start.

There is some swing for David Willey but that's just too full. Warner gets it perfectly in the gap between point and cover.

  6. Aus 15-0published at 3 overs

Warner quickly puts that run out scare behind him and thumps the next ball through the covers for four. Too full from Willey.

A couple of singles - including another that gave England hope of a run out - complete the scoring for the over.

Oh, David. Never run on a misfield!

  8. Aus 9-0published at 2.2 overs

    Target 288

A mix up between the Aussie openers and nearly a run out! Warner punched the ball into the covers and shouted 'no run!' However, a misfield makes him change his mind.

Travis Head had already turned his back, though, and Warner had to scramble back. A better throw and he might have been struggling.

  9. Aus 8-0published at 2 overs

    Target 288

It's a maiden to start for Stone, very good from the England fast bowler. That should help him settle into his spell.

Warner was content to have a look early in the over but did try to get after the last ball but clothed it to mid-off.

This is the first 50 over game Olly Stone has played in four years!

  11. Aus 8-0published at 1.4 overs

    Warner 1, Head 5

Good start from Olly Stone, he's digging a trench just outside Warner's off stump. Four dot balls to start his spell.

This series is a huge opportunity for players like Luke Wood, Olly Stone and Liam Dawson to prove what they are about.

It's a score that England are capable of defending but it did look a good pitch to bat on. Dawid Malan showed that if you get yourself in, you can score freely.

It's anybody's game to win from here.

  14. Aus 8-0published at 1 over

    Target 288

A bit of swing for Willey late in the over and he squares Head up with the penultimate ball, finds the edge but it goes wide of second slip and down to the boundary at deep third.

Olly Stone will bowl the next over. Let's see if he can hit those 90mph-plus speeds we've seen from him in the past.

  15. Aus 3-0published at 0.3 overs

    Target 288

A relatively steady start from David Willey. After a leg bye from the first ball and then a leg-side wide, Travis Head nudges the ball square for the first run off the bat.

England are out in the middle and here come the Australia openers, we're ready for the start of the chase.

David Willey will bowl the first over, David Warner is on strike. Australia need 288 to win.

A World Cup is a climax but you've got to play these games so you can make sure the pieces fit in the right places, such as who is going to bowl at the death.

Luke Wood and Olly Stone can bowl with express pace and we know there is enough in this surface with your variations,

It will be so good to see Stone in an England shirt. He has been plagued by injuries.

Wood has only played four List A games before today so he's got a lot to prove, but he's got his opportunity because he's done so well in the shorter formats.

I would still rather be in the Australia camp, particularly seeing how easy the pitch is playing.

Australia are ahead of the game.

In hindsight 320 is probably the order of the day but Dawid Malan has got them in the game.

Right then, this Australia chase. The home side would expect to chase knock off the 288 needed for victory but a couple of early wickets and England will fancy their chances.

It'll be a good chance for some of the England bowlers, who aren't necessarily first choice, to show what they can do.
