Here is that Danni Wyatt drop in the first over. How costly will that prove for England?

Here is that Danni Wyatt drop in the first over. How costly will that prove for England?
Well that is not as exciting.
There is now a group of people staring in the direction of the stump mic trying to work out what to do.
Gaby Lewis is lying on the floor getting some treatment for what looks like a shoulder issue.
Heather Knight meanwhile is sat on the ground enjoying the sunshine.
More as we get it...

It's not a snake... it's a cable.
So underwhelming. Blame Alex Hartley.

I remember there was a game that Phil Tufnell was involved in that was delayed because of a monitor lizard on the pitch that appeared to be chasing him.
Snake stops play. You don't get that at Old Trafford.

Apparently we've got a delay because there's a snake on the pitch.
That's a first.
And apparently it's gone in the gap where the stump mic is! This is just... bizarre.

Unconfirmed reports that there's a snake on the pitch! Goodness me.
Gaby Lewis is shuffling in and out and up and down her crease to try and unsettle Charlie Dean, but she can only nudge a single with an uppish push in the on-side.
Ireland can be well pleased with the start they have made given they are facing some of the best bowlers in the world.
There is a break in play at the end of the over and drinks are brought on, but it isn't a scheduled drinks break.
Curious.

This really is an impressive start from the Irish.
Ireland continue on the front foot with a lovely reverse-sweep from Gaby Lewis flying down to deep third for four.
There's a huge appeal from Sophie Ecclestone as Amy Hunter misses a sweep and the ball smacks into her pads - but the umpire says no.
'Going down leg' is the cry from wicketkeeper Amy Jones and Heather Knight agrees, declining the review.
Another spinner enters the fray, here is Charlie Dean.
Sophie Ecclestone enters the attack...

Wouldn’t be the a complete disaster if England lost to Ireland today. Last time we were beaten by Ireland I seem to remember that tournament ending quite well for us.

We've seen Danni Wyatt take those catches before, she is England's gun fielder at point.
Ireland certainly look up for this challenge, like they have a few points to prove.
Well Ireland will be delighted with the start they have made. They had a bit of luck with the Danni Wyatt drop but other than that they have been positive and aggressive, taking the game to the England bowlers.

Smashed down the ground for four more by Hunter. This is a really enterprising start from Ireland.
And again!
Amy Hunter has smashed Katherine Sciver-Brunt away through mid-off for another boundary.
This is a brilliant start by Ireland

It's a beautiful shot, absolutely crunched through the off side. Ireland are coming out and playing like a team with something to prove.
Shot!
An absolutely textbook drive from Amy Hunter races through the covers for Ireland's third boundary of the innings already.
Katherine Sciver-Brunt will open at the other end.
