  1. wicket

WICKET Price c Northeast b van der Gugten 31published at 18:20 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Glamorgan 404 v Glos 165 & 371-5

    Great catch!

Sam Northeast gets down very well to grab a sharp chance at second slip.

Oliver Price looked to the umpire and his team-mate seemingly unsure of whether the catch had been taken cleanly or not, but he has to walk.

A good contribution from Price is brought to an end by Timm van der Gugten's second wicket.

  2. Postpublished at 18:18 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Lancashire 291 & 18-0 v Surrey 442 & 292-6 dec

Leg-spinner Cameron Steel has bene thrown the ball to see if he can winkle out a wicket before the close.

He has four close catchers and the wicketkeeper round the bat bowling to Luke Wells.

  3. Pujara in a hurrypublished at 18:16 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Sussex 335 & 134-3 v Durham 376 & 189

Now if Durham could get Cheteshwar Pujara, they would have a chance.

But the Sussex skipper has moved to 18 off 17 balls and the target is down to less than 100.

  4. Stumps at Canterburypublished at 18:10 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Kent 222 v Northamptonshire 117 & 300-7

The players will not return from that break for bad light as the umpires have decided that's enough for today.

Northants started the day on 47-2 so will be pleased with how the day has gone.

They take a lead of 195 into the final day which is now set up nicely with plenty of cricket still to be played.

Centurion Rob Keogh will still be there in the morning and batting partner Gareth Berg will hope to turn his unbeaten 49 into a half-century on Easter Sunday.

A largely frustrating day for Kent but they're still in a decent position and will hope to grab early wickets tomorrow.

  5. 50 runs

    Shai Hope's half-centurypublished at 18:04 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Yorkshire 517 & 145-4, Leicestershire 415

For man who has hit two tons in the same game at Headingley (for the West Indies against England in 2017), Shai Hope's half-century might not seem much.

But it is still a big deal - as it's his first fifty for Yorkshire.

In Yorkshire, they'd say that's a bigger deal, in fact.

The Tykes now lead Leicestershire by 247 runs.

  6. Postpublished at 18:04 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Lancashire 291 & 10-0 v Surrey 442 & 292-6 dec

Luke Wells pushes through for a couple off Kemar Roach to get the scoreboard moving after two maiden overs.

He then ends the fifth over with a glorious drive off the West Indies bowler for the first boundary of the innings

    Six overs left this evening.

  7. wicket

WICKET Holden lbw Harmer 25published at 18:03 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Middlesex 170 & 41-4 v Essex 266 & 211 (Middlesex require 267 runs to win)

Another one ticked off the list for Essex.

Simon Harmer gets in on the act, trapping Max Holden lbw as he tried to send the South African's delivery around the corner.

Lbw has been Essex's preferred form of dismissal with all four of the second innings wickets falling that way.

Essex have totally taken control of this game in the latter part of the day and Middlesex have a mountain to climb.

  8. wicket

    WICKET - Wharton c & b Ahmed 52published at 17:56 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Yorkshire 517 & 125-4, Leicestershire 415

James Wharton departs just after completing his 50 - within four runs of a century stand with Shai Hope.

It is a first wicket of the second innings for England's new spinner Rehan Ahmed.

New man in is George Hill.

  9. Bad light stops playpublished at 17:55 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Kent 222 v Northamptonshire 117 & 300-7

It's been mainly a beautiful day across the country today so it's a surprise we're looking at a delay for bad light.

Let's hope the gloom lifts soon - there are 15 scheduled overs left to play.

  10. wicket

WICKET Haines c Clark b Carse 64published at 17:48 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Sussex 335 & 109-3 v Durham 376 & 189

    Now then!

Wickets in successive overs as Sussex lose both their set batters.

Tom Haines takes on a short ball from Brydon Carse but top edges it down to deep midwicket.

Live by the sword and all that, but it's about reading the game situation.

  11. 100 runs

for Rob Keoghpublished at 17:43 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Kent 222 v Northamptonshire 117 & 299-7

He was stuck in the nervous 90s for a while but Rob Keogh has now safely found his way to a century!

That's his 15th first-class ton - no mean feat - and a good return to form after failing to fine in the first innings.

He's helped nudge the Northants lead up to six shy of 200.

  12. wicket

WICKET Alsop c Potts b Kuhnemann 29published at 17:41 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Sussex 335 & 107-2 v Durham 376 & 189

My goodness, Durham needed this wicket!

Sussex had been threatening to take this away from them, but Tom Alsop is out to a reverse sweep.

He gets in a tangle and it's taken by Matt Potts at slip as the ball loops up.

A partnership of 77 between him and Tom Haines.

  13. SURREY DECLARE ON 292-6published at 17:31 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Lancashire 291 v Surrey 442 & 292-6 dec

Just four balls after Ben Foakes reaches his hundred and Rory Burns calls his batters in.

Foakes finishes unbeaten on 103. Matt Parkinson claims 5-120 for his efforts.

Lancashire have been set a nominal 444 to win.

  14. Sussex making runs in the sunshinepublished at 17:30 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Durham 376 & 189, Sussex 335 & 97-1 (chasing 134 to win)

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Just like Durham, Sussex lost their first wicket on 30 runs this afternoon.

But, while that sparked a Durham collapse this morning, Tom Haines and Tom Alsop have kept things going nicely for the hosts.

They have now pushed the score along to 97-1, with Haines on 55.

It is sunny as well and batting looks straightforward.

Durham turned to spinner Matt Kuhnemann fairly early in the innings and he's gone for 26 runs in his first five overs, including a six.

  15. 100 runs

for Ben Foakespublished at 17:29 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Lancashire 291 v Surrey 442 & 284-6

A superb sweep shot from Ben Foakes perfectly splits two deep fielders to get four and bring up his hundred.

He has got there off 93 balls with 12 fours and a six.

Another excellent knock to follow on from his 76 on day one.

  16. 50 runs

for Tom Hainespublished at 17:19 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Sussex 335 & 89-1 v Durham 376 & 189

Great stuff from England Lions player Tom Haines.

He has thumped his way to 50 off 51 balls to really propel Sussex's chase of 231.

Haines is certainly promoting Bazball with this approach in the fourth innings with eight fours and a six.

  17. 50 runs

Sam Hain's half centurypublished at 17:17 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Somerset 284, Warwickshire 244-5 (68 overs)

Sam Hain completes the 49th half-century of his career.

This one has been one of the England Lions man's more painstaking ones.

Just six fours in his three-hour-plus 142-ball knock. Not an innings to turn Bazball-obsessed heads, but very important for the Bears.

Just six runs away from a first Warwickshire batting point.

"Much better from Somerset post-tea, " says BBC Radio Somerset's Anthony Gibson. "They’ve stemmed the flow of runs and taken the wicket of Ed Barnard. But the remorseless Hain is still there."

  18. wicket

WICKET Malan lbw Cook 4published at 17:16 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Middlesex 170 & 15-3 v Essex 266 & 211 (Middlesex require 293 runs to win)

It goes from bad to worse for Middlesex.

Their top three batters have scored seven between them and are all back in the changing rooms within about half-an-hour of the innings starting.

All have fallen lbw, with the latest being Pieter Malan to Sam Cook - who has two.

Middlesex really need Stevie Eskinazi to steady things up now or what looked like being an interesting contest could be over before the final day.

  19. wicket

    WICKET - Barnard b Siddle 19published at 17:11 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Somerset 284, Warwickshire 236-5 (66 overs)

Just 25 runs in 14 overs since tea - and that has an effect as Somerset make a breakthrough.

Pear-turned-Bear Ed Barnard is bowled by Peter Siddle for 19, on his debut.

The Bears still trail Somerset by 48 runs as Michael Burgess arrives in the middle.

32 overs left in the day if the light holds?

  20. When will Surrey declare?published at 17:08 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Lancashire 291 v Surrey 442 & 245-6

Ben Foakes is going along really nicely moving to 78 not out.

Surrey lead by 396 and we have 20 overs left tonight, and the full 96 tomorrow.

A declaration would lose two of those, so the question is amount of runs versus time.

We can't be far away from Rory Burns calling his players in.
