  1. 50 runs

Half-century stand for Godleman and Haiderpublished at 14:45 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Derbyshire 321 & 58-0, Worcestershire 473

Derbyshire openers Billy Godleman and Haider Ali have racked up their second and biggest half-century stand of the game - and that has reduced Worcestershire's 152-run first-innings advantage back from treble into double figures.

They shared 54 runs together in the first innings. Another 58 and counting now, in just 12 overs.

    Just 94 behind now.

  2. wicket

WICKET Patel b Parkinson 0published at 14:39 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Lancashire 291 v Surrey 442 & 89-3

A beauty from Matt Parkinson! And he's on a hat-trick...

    But Ben Foakes survives.

Parkinson pitched one in the footholes outside Ryan Patel's off-stump and sees it turn and crash into the stumps.

A miserable game for Patel with three and now a first-baller.

  3. Postpublished at 14:36 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Hampshire 231 & 51-1 v Nottinghamshire 185 & 177

Nick Gubbins tucks one away off Dane Paterson and that brings up the 50.

Hampshire are slowly sucking the life out of these Notts bowlers with the target down to 82.

  4. wicket

WICKET Pope c de Grandhomme b Parkinson 38published at 14:33 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Lancashire 291 v Surrey 442 & 85-2

But now Ollie Pope's stay at the crease is over!

He tries to slog sweep Matt Parkinson for six but he doesn't get all of it.

He would have been alright though, if not for a brilliant diving catch from Colin de Grandhomme coming in from the boundary.

He almost lost his trousers in the process, but the big Kiwi just about keeps hold of the ball, and his dignity!

  5. Postpublished at 14:31 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Lancashire 291 v Surrey 442 & 85-1

Ollie Pope moves through the gears as he hits four, four and a lovely six off Will Williams' latest over.

That is enough to bring up the 50 stand between him and Rory Burns.

  6. wicket

WICKET Dent b van der Gugten 78published at 14:27 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Glamorgan 404 v Glos 165 & 168-1

Glamorgan have finally made the breakthrough and taken a Gloucestershire wicket!

The Flying Dutchman Timm van der Gugten gets all the high fives as he bowls Chris Dent for 78.

Important intervention by the big man with Dent and Marcus Harris (89*) looking in fine fettle.

The first real negative on what has been a very positive Glos performance today - how will they react to that?

  7. 50 runs

Half-century stand for Davies & Hainpublished at 14:21 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Somerset 284, Warwickshire 132-2 (30 overs)

Alex Davies is now nicely into his groove, having hit 13 fours and six to reach 73.

He has made the lion's share of a half-century stand with Sam Hain (12).

  8. wicket

WICKET Rossington c Eskinazi b Hollman 0published at 14:21 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Middlesex 170 v Essex 266 & 123-5

Adam Rossington was the new man in after Dan Lawrence's departure a few moments ago, but he's now going to join him in the pavilion!

He lasted only two balls before edging Luke Hollman to Stevie Eskinazi at first slip.

Great few minutes for Middlesex and Simon Harmer is the next batter in their crosshairs.

Essex's lead is now 220 and they have five wickets remaining.

  9. Postpublished at 14:20 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Hampshire 231 & 33-1 v Nottinghamshire 185 & 177

Hampshire have taken 17 overs to get to their score of 33.

They are inching towards this target of 132 with some very accurate bowling.

Luke Fletcher has given up just three runs from nine overs so far.

  10. wicket

WICKET Lawrence c Simpson b Higgins 37published at 14:16 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Middlesex 170 v Essex 266 & 122-4

No sooner had Dan Lawrence and Matthew Critchley brought up the 50 partnership then it was promptly broken up!

Lawrence, who struck a century in the first innings, only makes it to 37 in the second as he feathers one behind to John Simpson.

  12. Target down to exactly 100published at 14:11 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Hampshire 231 & 32-1 v Nottinghamshire 185 & 177

Fletcha Middleton guides one down to a vacant third area for four more.

The 21-year-old has 25 to go with his 59 in the first innings. He's playing a dab hand for his team.

    Hampshire now need exactly 100.

  13. Postpublished at 14:10 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Lancashire 291 v Surrey 442 & 51-1

Matt Parkinson is thrown the ball and Ollie Pope dances down the track to hit a lovely lofted one-bounce four.

Parkinson is probably set for a long spell this afternoon.

  14. wicket

WICKET - Finan lbw b Thompson 0published at 13:58 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Yorkshire 517 v Leicestershire 332-8

Two wickets in three balls for Jordan Thompson!

Right on the money, and Mike Finan is pinned in front for a second ball duck.

What a start to the afternoon session for Yorkshire!

  15. wicket

    WICKET - Ahmed c Hill b Thompson 85published at 13:54 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Yorkshire 517 v Leicestershire 332-7

What a pity! There will be no hundred for Rehan Ahmed.

First ball after lunch and the England teenager plays a slightly loose shot to Jordan Thompson and is snaffled at first slip.

  16. Postpublished at 13:49 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Hampshire 231 & 24-1 v Nottinghamshire 185 & 177

Two welcome boundaries in an over for opener Fletcha Middleton.

Two bad ones from a Notts perspective. They cannot afford too many like that.

  17. Watch out Dave!published at 13:47 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Hampshire 231 & 18-1 v Nottinghamshire 185 & 177

BBC Radio Nottingham's Dave Bracegirdle has just revealed on air that during the lunchbreak, he nearly bumped into Manchester City footballer Kevin De Bruyne.

City are staying at the hotel on site at the Ageas Bowl ahead of their Premier League game at Southampton today (ko: 17:30 BST).

Injuring their star Belgian would not have made Dave too popular in the blue half of Manchester!

  18. Postpublished at 13:43 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Lancashire 291 v Surrey 442 & 29-1

From the fourth ball he faces, Ollie Pope caresses one through the covers for four.

    That shot oozed class!

He will naturally score quickly as Surrey look to push on towards a declaration.

  19. A three-day win not out of the questionpublished at 13:37 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Durham 376 & 70-5, Sussex 335

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

Sussex have turned this game on its head taking 5 wickets for 33 in a spell before lunch.

Henry Crocombe has led the way, taking three of the wickets to fall, as the Sussex attack bowled a far better line and length than they did in a disappointing display on the first day.

The pitch is still a very good one, but the slightly overcast conditions may have helped the Sussex seamers.

There are still 74 overs to be bowled today and a result either way in three days isn’t out of the question.

  20. Brisk scoring by Warwickshirepublished at 13:30 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Somerset 284 Warwickshire 108-2

    Clive Eakin
    BBC CWR Sport

Warwickshire's brisk progress made it their session at Taunton this morning. They've been scoring at more than 4 and a half an over despite losing Rob Yates third ball to Josh Davey.

They have been keen to take on England spinner Jack Leach, although Will Rhodes paid the price for that, holing out to Craig Overton at mid off.

With the Somerset attack looking a little rusty Alex Davies has grown in confidence as the day has gone on.

Resuming on 51, he'll be hoping to start the season with a century, something he only managed once in his debut summer for Warwickshire.
