  1. Tea at Canterburypublished at 16:09 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Kent 222 v Northamptonshire 117 & 243-7

Hasan Azad's 51 and Rob Keogh's unbeaten 72 have helped Northants to establish a lead of 138.

Three wickets needed for Kent to polish the visitors off and stop that advantage going much higher.

  2. Tea at Cardiffpublished at 16:06 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Glamorgan 404 v Glos 165 & 259-2

Gloucestershire have dominated from the first ball of the day, wiping out Glamorgan's overnight 223-run lead and going 20 runs ahead at tea.

A lot of their success has come down to Marcus Harris' unbeaten 130 but he's had plenty of support from Chris Dent and Miles Hammond.

One session left today for Glamorgan to try to change the momentum which has only been going in one direction.

  3. Tea at Ageas Bowlpublished at 16:05 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Hampshire 231 & 131-2 v Nottinghamshire 185 & 177

The umpires are taking the players off for a cup of tea.

    With the scores LEVEL!!!!

    Cricket, eh?!

  4. Tea at Tauntonpublished at 16:03 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Somerset 284, Warwickshire 211-4 (54 overs)

Warwickshire go to tea still trailing Somerset by 73 runs.

But they still have six wickets remaining - and two of the Midlands' top three Championship run scorers at the crease, Sam Hain (1,137) and Worcestershire old boy Ed Barnard (895).

for Nick Gubbinspublished at 16:01 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Hampshire 231 & 127-2 v Nottinghamshire 185 & 177

A nice way to start the season for the Hampshire number three.

Nick Gubbins will be pleased with this one as he has played the situation very calmly, batting for over two-and-half hours for this.

  6. wicket

WICKET Snater b Helm 19published at 16:00 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Middlesex 170 v Essex 266 & 205-8

Shane Snater had bashed Tom Helm for consecutive fours early in the over but the bowler takes him out with the penultimate ball of the 59th over.

Essex only have two wickets left but their lead is now over 300.

  7. Postpublished at 16:00 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Hampshire 231 & 126-2 v Nottinghamshire 185 & 177

James Vince has come to the crease and is a man in a hurry.

He's already hit two boundaries as Hampshire are down to single figures.

  8. wicket

WICKET - Mousley lbw b Leach 2published at 15:57 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Somerset 284, Warwickshire 205-4 (52.3 overs)

    Jack Leach strikes again.

Wickets in successive overs for the England spinner as he adds Dan Mousley to his earlier scalps of Bears skipper Will Rhodes and Alex Davies.

Just before tea, that might silence the chuntering round the boundary edge at Taunton. The natives had been getting worried that Warwickshire were on their way to building a lead.

Sam Hain is well set on 36, however, as he is joined by Bears debutant Ed Barnard - and the former Worcestershire all-rounder is immediately off the mark with a paddle sweep for four.

  9. Harris shines for Gloucestershirepublished at 15:56 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Glamorgan 404 v Glos 165 & 249-2

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Marcus Harris has been the star of the day as Gloucestershire took just 55 overs to knock off a deficit of 239 runs as the Cardiff pitch eased further on the third day.

Just a fortnight after playing in the Sheffield Shield final, the Australian opener and Ashes candidate hit 16 fours as he reached 100 off only 131 balls.

Glamorgan’s rather uniform medium-fast attack looked fairly innocuous as Harris and Chris Dent (78) opened up with a stand of 161 before Dent played on to Timm van der Gugten.

James Bracey fell to Harry Podmore for 15 but Miles Hammond shared a half-century stand with Harris, and Gloucestershire should now be able to aim for at least a draw- even if they might not be able to risk a final-day declaration.

  10. wicket

    WICKET Middleton b Patterson-White 65published at 15:54 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Hampshire 231 & 117-2 v Nottinghamshire 185 & 177

What a shame Fletcha Middleton can't see it home!

Liam Patterson-White spins one past his defence and the young opener has to go.

But with two of the three half centuries in this match, he is a strong contender for player of the match.

  11. wicket

WICKET Vilas c Croft b Parkinson 13published at 15:53 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Lancashire 291 v Surrey 442 & 166-5

A fourth wicket for Matt Parkinson, and another top edge.

Jamie Smith tries to sweep against the spin and he is taken by Steven Croft at short fine leg.

    Surrey lead by 317.

  12. Tea at Hovepublished at 15:52 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Sussex 335 v Durham 376 & 189

The innings break will coincide with the tea break before Sussex begin their run chase.

  13. wicket

    WICKET - Davies b Leach 118published at 15:50 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Somerset 284, Warwickshire 203-3 (50.4 overs)

Big afternoon breakthrough for Somerset as they remove centurion Alex Davies for 118.

He is clean bowled by England spinner Jack Leach.

  14. wicket

DURHAM ALL OUT FOR 189published at 15:47 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Sussex 335 v Durham 376 & 189

Durham last man Matt Kuhnemann goes for a duck as he is caught fishing his bat at one and Jack Carson takes a sharp catch at a wide third slip.

Four wickets apiece for Crocombe and Fynn Hudson-Prentice.

Sussex will need 231 in the final innings for victory.

  15. wicket

    WICKET - Lyth c Hull b Finan 0published at 15:46 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Yorkshire 517 & 0-1, Leicestershire 415

Great start second time around for the visitors as they bag Adam Lyth second ball.

He mistimes a pull to square leg - and it's another wicket for Mike Finan to add to his first-innings haul of three scalps.

  16. 100 runs

partnership for Middleton and Gubbinspublished at 15:44 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Hampshire 231 & 106-1 v Nottinghamshire 185 & 177

This is music to the ears of any Hampshire fans.

A second wicket partnership of 100 that is taking them to victory and suggesting they may have solved a batting issue.

  17. 100 runs

Century for Alex Daviespublished at 15:41 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Somerset 284, Warwickshire 190-2

    Alex DaviesImage source, Getty Images

Alex Davies has completed only his second century since joining Warwickshire from Lancashire.

With the prolific Sam Hain already on 34, the Bears are moving menacingly towards the Somerset score.

Audible concern from the locals in the BBC commentary box.

  18. wicket

WICKET Harmer lbw Murtagh 26published at 15:40 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Middlesex 170 v Essex 266 & 184-7

Simon Harmer hits Tim Murtagh for four but the bowler gets his revenge with the next ball as he traps the South African lbw.

That's 4-42 for Murtagh and he'll definitely be eyeing a fifth with the lower order to come.

Essex's lead is up to a healthy looking 280.

  19. Robinson resistance endspublished at 15:37 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

Durham 188-8 lead Sussex by 229

Ollie Robinson batted ever so nicely in the afternoon sunshine in Hove and steered Durham towards calmer waters after they lost six quick wickets in their second innings.

He reached his half century with three maximums and four fours - all cheered loudly by a group of pals sitting in the stands.

He also moved Durham from 92-6 to 163-7, as he put together a stand of 71 with Brydon Carse. But then he fell to a cracking slip catch as he edged a ball from Fynn Hudson-Prentice towards Tom Clark at second slip.

Initially it looked to have escaped the fielder but he took a great two-handed catch around his right ankle.

Perhaps Robinson could have left the ball. It was moving away from him at the time and his reaction, as he placed his forehead on the top of his bat handle, suggested so. But it was a great effort in the circumstances.

Sadly Carse has now fallen for 36 and Durham have just two wickets left to defend.

  20. Postpublished at 15:37 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Hampshire 231 & 101-1 v Nottinghamshire 185 & 177

Another single for Hampshire is enough to bring up the 100.

A couple more singles and they only need 30.

It's a matter of time now.
