  2. Lunch at Derbypublished at 13:23 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Derbyshire 321, Worcestershire 473

Worcestershire are bowled out on the stroke of lunch for 473, to earn a now commanding first-innings lead of 151.

All thanks largely to a century from winter signing Matthew Waite.

Skipper Brett D'Oliveira was denied his own chance of a ton when he was run out by a direct hit from Anuj Dal on 89.

But Waite, who also did well with the ball, taking four wickets, ploughed on to finish unbeaten on 109, having enjoyed a glorious last-wicket stand with Ben Gibbon (30).

Derbyshire also contributed generously, with 60 extras (26 of them no-balls), fourth top scorer behind Waite, Dolly and Jack Haynes (62).

  3. Lunch at Cardiffpublished at 13:21 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Glamorgan 404 v Glos 165 & 133-0

Gloucestershire's morning no doubt as they quickly ended Glamorgan's first innings inside half-an-hour before openers Chris Dent and Marcus Harris batted brilliantly to remain unbeaten at the break.

Glamorgan's lead is down to 106.

  4. Lunchtime at Tauntonpublished at 13:18 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Somerset 284, Warwickshire 108-2

Warwickshire go to lunch with Alex Davies on 51 and Sam Hain on 10, still trailing Somerset by 176 runs.

The all-northern attack of the ageless Chris Rushworth and OHD earlier wrapped up the hosts' first innings with a wicket each, limiting Somerset to just one batting point.

  5. Lunch at Canterburypublished at 13:17 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Kent 222 v Northamptonshire 117 & 137-5

    Hasan Azad's half-century and Luke Procter's 38 have given Northants a lead of 32.

Daniel Bell-Drummond took the final two wickets before the break and Matthew Quinn also has a couple.

  6. Lunchtime in Leedspublished at 13:15 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Yorkshire 517, Leicestershire 332-6

Leicestershire still trail Yorkshire by 185 runs with four wickets remaining.

But it has been the Foxes' morning.

131 runs in the session for the loss of just one wicket, thanks to that 121-run stand between Peter Handscomb (112) and Rehan Ahmed (85*).

Just another 36 needed to avoid any threat of a follow-on.

  7. Lunch at Lord'spublished at 13:15 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Middlesex 170 v Essex 266 & 103-3

Essex have built their lead up to 199 at the interval.

They started well but had to steady themselves after a bit of a wobble where they lost three quick wickets including openers Alastair Cook and Nick Browne.

  8. Lunch at Hovepublished at 13:13 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Sussex 335 v Durham 376 & 70-5

What a morning session for the home team.

After giving up a lead of 41, Sussex have ripped through half of Durham's batting.

Luke Fletcher has taken the first wicket of Felix Organ - he is fired up!

Debutant Fletcha Middleton, who top scored for Hampshire in the first innings, is at the crease alongside the experienced Nick Gubbins.

Hampshire require a further 118 runs to win. Nottinghamshire require 9 wickets.

This promises to be a fantastic session up next.

  10. 50 runs

    WICKET Cobb c Billings b Bell-Drummond 12published at 13:09 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Kent 222 v Northamptonshire 117 & 135-5

Daniel Bell-Drummond is making the difference and has himself a wicket maiden as we approach the lunch break.

Josh Cobb had seen out five balls but with the final delivery of the 47th over he edges one behind to the waiting Sam Billings.

Northants have a lead of 30, with Lewis McManus the new man in.

  12. Lunch at Ageas Bowlpublished at 13:06 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Hampshire 231 & 14-1 v Nottinghamshire 185 & 177

Hampshire's morning as they took the last four wickets for just 31 runs.

Nottinghamshire need a HUGE afternoon as they defend a target of only 132.

  13. wicket

WICKET - Handscomb lbw b Coad 112published at 13:04 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Yorkshire 517, Leicestershire 328-6

A wicket just before the delayed lunch at Headingley as Ben Coad traps Peter Handscomb. Most on the ground thought it was caught behind. But it says LBW in the book!

But the Foxes are within 40 of the follow-on target, with Rehan Ahmed looking good on 83.

When he hit his only previous half-century, he went on to make three figures - and he is looking good for another as Chris Wright comes out to bat.

  14. Lunch at Old Traffordpublished at 13:00 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Lancashire 291 v Surrey 442 & 24-1

And with the fall of that wicket, the players head off for lunch.

  15. wicket

WICKET Sibley lbw b Williams 6published at 12:59 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Lancashire 291 v Surrey 442 & 24-1

Dom Sibley is pinned on the crease, playing around one from Will Williams and he goes for six (off 24 balls).

Surrey lose their first wicket with a lead of 175.

  16. Postpublished at 12:58 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Hampshire 231 & 11-1 v Nottinghamshire 185 & 177

    Shot!

That's a nice way to get off the mark for Nick Gubbins as he drives Olly Stone down the ground for four.

A few more of those should provide reassurance for Hampshire.

  17. 50 runs

50s for Dent and Harrispublished at 12:55 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Glamorgan 404 v Glos 165 & 110-0

It's been a great morning for Gloucestershire.

Openers Chris Dent and Marcus Harris are both unbeaten and have both reached half-centuries.

When we started this morning they still needed to bowl Glamorgan out, which they did swiftly, and have since motored away with the bat.

They still trail by a not insignificant 129, but they couldn't have hoped for a much better start to Saturday.

  18. wicket

    WICKET - Rhodes c Overton b Leach 39published at 12:52 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Somerset 284, Warwickshire 70-2

The introduction of spin at Taunton does the trick for Somerset.

England's Jack Leach strikes in only his second over as he bags Warwickshire captain Will Rhodes for 39.

Rhodes lofts one to Craig Overton at mid off.

  19. wicket

    WICKET Procter c Denly b Bell-Drummond 38published at 12:52 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Kent 222 v Northamptonshire 117 & 109-4

Daniel Bell-Drummond does for Northants skipper Luke Procter with only his second delivery!

Procter skies his shot and Joe Denly makes no mistake in pouching it.

Northants have edged their noses in front but Kent have put the brakes on their scoring in recent overs.

  20. wicket

WICKET Organ c Duckett b Fletcher 0published at 12:50 British Summer Time 8 April 2023

    Hampshire 231 & 6-1 v Nottinghamshire 185 & 177

    That's the first one!!

Luke Fletcher does what Luke Fletcher. He puts it in the right area, just short of a length and Felix Organ edges tentatively to Ben Duckett at second slip.

He goes for a duck as Hampshire's opening partnership fails again.
