Dom Sibley and Surrey will be hoping to restrict Hampshire's lead and then chase victory at The Oval on the final day.

  2. Close of play at Trent Bridgepublished at 19:28 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Notts 256 & 187-6 v Somerset 173

And that's stumps... the final action of the day is over.

Notts will resume in the morning with a 270-run advantage, but a few quick wickets from Somerset and it's all up for grabs.

  3. Bad light stops playpublished at 19:25 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Notts 256 & 187-6 v Soms 173

The shadows have stretched across the wicket, the umpires check the meters and the players are off. Notts are well ahead with a lead of 270 but Somerset have given themselves a slim chance.

  4. Postpublished at 19:22 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Notts 256 & 186-6 v Soms 173

Just the one off Peter Siddle's latest over as Nottinghamshire batten down the hatches with two overs to go tonight.

  5. Close of play at Wantage Roadpublished at 19:21 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Northants 198 & 30-1 v Middlesex 149 & 167

Northamptonshire get through to the close without any further loss. Hassan Azad is 14 not out while nighwatcher Chris Tremain is unbeaten on three not out.

A late wicket for Middlesex does not take the gloss of what has largely been Northants' day. They need 89 runs to win with nine wickets in hand.

Free entry for fans at the ground tomorrow. Get yourself along!

  6. Postpublished at 19:19 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Notts 256 & 185-6 v Soms 173

Craig Overton sends down a maiden, and we have three overs still to go.

This day has gone on and on, but it's a bit like The Godfather Part II is a long film - but you never notice because it's so good.

    Vasconcelos b Higgins 13 (Northants 198 & 27-1 v Middlesex 149 & 167)

    A late boost for Middlesex!

Northants opener Ricardo Vasconcelos had played watchfully for 11.4 overs but walked across his stumps and is bowled behind his legs by Ryan Higgins. A lapse in concentration has cost the left-hander his wicket.

Chris Tremain has come out for nightwatcher duties.

  8. Postpublished at 19:13 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Notts 256 & 185-6 v Soms 173

Peter Siddle is back on for one last burst with four overs left in the day. The veteran Australian was excellent earlier on, but he goes for three on his return.

It'll be all pace at the end of the day as Craig Overton returns at the Radcliffe Road End.

  9. Close of play at CLSpublished at 19:12 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Durham 425-9 dec & 96-2 v Worcestershire 366-5 dec

That's stumps after a long day at the Riverside.

Durham will go into the final day of their Division Two match with a lead of 155 and eight wickets in hand.

Scott Borthwick and Daniel Bedingham will resume on 39 and 21 respectively in the morning.

Foregone conclusion? You never know in cricket.

  10. Postpublished at 19:09 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Notts 256 & 182-6 v Soms 173

    Ooooh!

Jack Leach rips one from outside leg stump, past Brett Hutton's outside edge and into Tom Kohler-Cadmore's hands at slip.

That prompts Cameron Bancroft into moving from second slip to silly point.

  11. Postpublished at 19:03 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Northants 198 & 20-0 v Middlesex 149 & 167

The shadows are stretching across the pitch at Northampton now as we edge closer to stumps. Northants openers Ricardo Vasconcelos (12) and Hassan Azad (8) have blunted the Middlesex attack thus far.

  12. Postpublished at 19:00 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Notts 256 & 177-6 v Soms 173

Nottinghamshire's lead is up to 260 after Brett Hutton swipes six off the latest over. Will that be enough? Leicestershire chased much more than that at Leeds last week, don't forget.

There are two slips to Jack Leach as he comes in from over the wicket.

  13. Close of play at The Ovalpublished at 18:57 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Surrey 270 v Hampshire 254 & 198-5

As we feared, that's stumps on another entertaining day's cricket.

The Hampshire lead is 182 with five wickets in hand. How many do they need to feel comfortable... against Surrey... at The Oval... on the final day?

  14. Close of play at Edgbastonpublished at 18:52 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Warwickshire 453-4 dec v Kent 158 & 27-1

    That's all she wrote.

Kent trail by 268 runs with nine second innings wickets remaining.

Forecast is good for a full day's play on Sunday. It's going to take some effort from the visitors to save the game.

  15. Postpublished at 18:51 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Durham 425-9 dec & 71-2 v Worcs 366-5 dec

Borthwick and Bedingham - sounds like a law firm - are digging in and extending Durham's lead to 130.

It's a gorgeous evening at Chester-le-Street, which played host to a one-day international last year on the hottest day ever - a tad cooler tonight.

  16. Bad light stops playpublished at 18:49 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Warwickshire 453-4 dec v Kent 158 & 27-1

'Get on with it...' comes the cry from the stands. Not from the Kent balcony, I can assure you.

There are four overs left, in theory, and we could get back out if things improve. Even if we do not then Warwickshire have had an incredible day.

They reached maximum batting bonus points, bowled Kent out for 158, enforced the follow on and need nine wickets to record a thumping win.

  17. Postpublished at 18:47 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Warwickshire 453-4 dec v Kent 158 & 27-1

Rob Yates doesn't need much of a warm-up to get into the zone, clearly.

Warwickshire throw in a suffocating field and Yates caused some problems.

We have a light reading. Kent are desperate to get off.

  18. Postpublished at 18:44 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Warwickshire 453-4 dec v Kent 158 & 22-1

We have five overs remaining today and the umpires have conferred and told Warwickshire they may no longer bowl pace.

Rob Yates is warming his shoulder up to take the ball at the Pavilion End having been stood at slip all afternoon. Life comes at you fast.

  19. Postpublished at 18:43 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Northants 198 & 12-0 v Middlesex 149 & 167

Northants have made a solid start to their second innings chase against Middlesex at Wantage Road. Openers Ricardo Vasconcelos and Hassan Azad are watchful on seven and five respectively. Seven overs left in the day.

  20. Postpublished at 18:42 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Notts 256 & 165-6 v Soms 173

Jack Leach is hitting a nice groove at Trent Bridge, Mullaney and Hutton have slowed right down since the last wicket fell.

The lights are on in the bright evening sunshine, there are 13 overs at least to bowl tonight.
